Is there anything AI created that I care for?
Knowledge, inventions, discoveries... food, music, video, photos?
This thing keeps regurgitating same old garbage over and over again. And I should care... why? Sure, random chatbots can answer some questions it picked up from websites not protected with a proper robots.txt, but without careful feeding of information in it, it can't do much. It only takes a few years of everyone denying OpenAI and Microsoft the ability to ingest training data by virtue of litigation threats, and I have a feeling this thing will stop generating anything useful at all.

The only thing ChatGPT is good for these days is boomers thinking they've beat a Google search and zoomers thinking they'll build TikTok 2.0 via prompt engineering. That, and scams. Same goes for dall-e.

      >Is there anything AI created that I care for?
Unemployment. And even if that doesn't worry you, it should worry you that a large amount of the population will be unemployed in the next decade. And if that doesn't worry you, it should worry you that (they) know a large amount of the population will be unemployed in the next decade.

        Unemployment based on... what?
You do realize most of the "shedding" these days is due to overhiring during covid? "Herp derp here's a ton of low interest loan money, let's just hire anyone with a pulse!"
Sure, there's a lot of jobs out there which will be lost due to automated moderation. But, frankly, most of these jobs can be replaced with wordfilters anyway. And AI is worse at determining the context of a text. Try telling ChatGPT to generate something even remotely controversial, or to determine whether something's good or bad... good luck!

Content moderation jobs came with the overproduction of garbage content on the internet. They'll leave at some point, and no one will care.

This t b h. Anyone who can program and tried using ChatGPT knows it makes coding HARDER because it just generates garbage you spend more time fixing than if you'd write it yourself from scratch.

The best it can do is (imprecise) stackoverflow copypasta or just reciting outdated official docs. Thanks ChatGPT.

      >Is there anything AI created that I care for?
Unemployment. And even if that doesn't worry you, it should worry you that a large amount of the population will be unemployed in the next decade. And if that doesn't worry you, it should worry you that (they) know a large amount of the population will be unemployed in the next decade.

Name one person who lost their job to "AI". Immovable goalpost: their job must be real, aka producing something of value. And no, social media slop is not valuable.

        Anonymous

We're in the initial phases. Big companies won't adopt AI yet. They will let smaller companies innovate, buy up the best ideas then integrate them. If you can't see how this will eventually replace at least 50% of jobs in the next decade, you are frankly, moronic.

          >Immovable goalpost: their job must be real, aka producing something of value

Would be a shame if the vast majority of jobs out there are pointless make work where they shuffle around files on computers and fiddle with spreadsheets+documents

Question not answered. Call me when 1 single person producing anything of value will lose their job to "AI".

People will continue to lose their jobs to _automation_ but that is entirely different topic. It has nothing to to with the technology broadly called AI.

And I must repeat: rule34, tiktoks and reels, minecraft letsplays are not valuable. It's slop for sub 80IQs.
AI can't design machinery and infrastructure. It can't even make a shoe. It can't write a worthy story or a screenplay. It can't do shit.
All real work is done by humans with help of complex non-AI algorithms aka traditional software.

              Anonymous

Only true for software slop industry. 90% of real world jobs do produce value. Even fast food servers and street sweepers produce more value than the entire historical output of OpenAI algos.

Restaurants are dying, fast food is increasingly automated. Who the frick is even going to have money to go there? Sweeping streets can be done cheaply and effectively by machines. Future survival will just be based on inheriting wealth, kissing rich people's boots, or being euthanized probably.

Restaurants are dying all the time, it what the restaurant industry is like. Real restaurant experience will never die because it's great and inherently human.
                >fast food is increasingly automated
Sure McDonald's and the likes might get automated. And that's a good thing. The authentic places like cool oldschool bars, speakeasy types, vibey coffee shops, ethnic places, real kitchens will stay. People pay for the experience. People even travel to get to a specific place.
                >Who the frick is even going to have money to go there?
                Literally millions of people.
                >Sweeping streets can be done cheaply and effectively by machines
It would be done by machines already if it was cheaper and more effective. It still isn't done by machines because machines are expensive, break, require maintenance and replacements, get stolen, and computer vision is still bad. Even the latest robot vacuums barely see shit.
