Will ferric oxide be the new gold of the AI future?

What are the political ramifications of a world were all audio and video recordings are suspect? Will casset tapes and VHS make a comeback? Should I invest in these while they are still cheep?

    God that takes me back.

Compilation tapes you would make for friends/crushes.

Think they were dollar each. Burger King even had promos with tapes.
I also had blank tapes and picel where I created my own pirate radio with those tapes.

Hi-MD? I found 20 of those cheap on a dusty shelf in a shop a while back and snaffled the lot. Asked them if they had any more or a source but unfortunately no luck.

Pic is not my haul but these are the type I got. They go for silly money these days.

even polaroids are suspect as you can just be taking a photo of some screen

        not at the hiend stuff
        that's the problem
when you get actual prograde stuff, not consumer benq panels, you lose the distinction in film as the film itself now has errors
The whole issue is that thanks to making more ways to sin, the whole concept of truth breaks down again
        Just like with news

lol. no. these have been a dogshit format for 20 years. Blu rays last a long time and a company makes archival dvds that last over a thousand years.

You can record an AI generated movie on to a VHS. You can take the AI generated Biden doing the YWNBAW pasta, record it on to tape and play it back in your Walkman (after you change the rubber belts if necessary, they've almost certainly disintegrated) .

If anything an AI generated clip on VHS would be easier to fake, 240/480/576 is a much smaller resolution than even the average webm on pol, a cassette can at least approach high quality audio.

oh I love tape, but long term stability no, you have to wind the reels every year to prevent phasing, you have to bake the things to transfer them so they don't come apart on the reels, it's a big fucking nightmare preserving that stuff and it's not coming back, I wish it would, nothing sounds like tape but tape and you get a lot of bandwidth on it

Replying twice to the same post is how you lose at BOT you pathetic bot newgay.

Analog is infinite-fi with natural noise. You listen to a computer interpreting 0s ans 1s as music with a finite resolution.

Zoomers, chinks, and Pajeets will literally find "dead" spots with no input, in a tape or vinyl album, record them, the normalize it in their audio editing application to "prove" analog is inferior to digital. Audio Science Review is full of non-whites doing bizarre experiments like this.

Point out that nobody actually cranks the silence full bore because once the music starts it will blow out your speakers and they will absolutely rage but can't refute. Pathetic third world numbskulls.

no, the tapes go bad and you have to bake them to recover them to digital and there is only 1 manufacturer of tape left in the world and it won't be long before thats all over

no, it's a closed market, you can't afford to be in that game it's only for people who can afford 80 dollars for 30 minutes of record time, forget it once all the NOS tape is gone it's done and also in another 10 or 20 years it's done no matter how much NOS tape you have

the stuff deteriorates and you can't stop it

why do you think that an analog recording - medium of storage - should have anything to do with it. i dont get it. you think frequencies on a analog meduim are different frequencies on a digital medium? if, you are wrong. if not explain i dont get it

Analog is better then digital though

        Anonymous

no i am not in this camp. its all about the quality of the converters. thats all. quality converters are hella expensive. the oversampling and the reconstruction filters are key. digital audio was actually very clever. really big brain clever the way it was designed.
the rest of the charme of analog audio is actually due to electro-mechanical and -technical design of the components. that doesnt mean that analog interfereces cannot create harmoiens that are pleasent for humans - they are but analog is better then digital is quite a stretch to say imo.

I have beta8 tapes from a camera my university friend borrowed like 15+ years ago.
he was filming his daily mundane life and random shit he found funny.
On the tapes is his rich ex gf that was exchange student of architecture and later expat living here in upper class.
Literally her entire circle of female friends that got fucked and filmed and its all on tapes. Betamax can be digitized into 480p easily.
I cannot tell you who are all the women in that group but its now all higher management, politics, wives of richgays...

    You guys don't get it
AI is great news. Soon we won't be able to trust a single digital media. Which means, people will be forced to dropped the internet and start speaking to each other face to face.
We are shooting on own foot so hard with AI, we're actually gonna go back to pre internet days. Think about it.

Yes baking tapes of old things stored away will make them sound better but they are still playable without this. The machines and heads and cleaned and maintained for optimization moreso than playability. Tape will almost always play unless the machine is broken. Whether the pitch is correct and the audio quality is good is another matter entirely.
