It's 100% possible to do with current tech, yet no one offers a decent service. Why can't I have neuro-sama or equivalents on my phone this very minute? Why is Siri, Google Assistant and Cortana still dogshit?

The hardware just isn't there yet. Phones operate on a few watts of power during real world use and unless some miracle leap in energy efficiency happens like optical CPUs watts = computational power. That's why aplol's vr headset won't be able to crank out PC graphics from 10 years ago (ie GTA V).
What the ass are you talking about? GPT-4 is running on cloud and you can run TTS and STT on the phone locally or at least STT locally and TTS on the cloud too. You can use unity or unreal engine to makr the 3D girl come to life.
Nothing is stopping competent developer from doing this, yet no one is doing it.

Anthropic and OpenAi both hate anime and especially lewd or sexual things, they would never support you in this endeavor but we'll see how the ONE anime waifu ai project goes to confirm this

I'm talking about the "cute 3d anime girl" part, that's going to be very resource intensive on a phone unless you step down to nintendo 64 graphics. 2d anime girl is more realistic ATM.

You can fricking game on your phone. If simple 3D avatar breaks your phone, then you quite frankly need yo buy a new phone. Preferable something made in the last 10 years.
I think the real problem is the amount of custom animations you'd have to hand animate. Dialog is easy, but translating complex text actions into actual animated functions on the fly is just something that hasn't ever been done before.
A possible solution would be to give the LLM ai direct control of the avatar itself but I have no idea how that would work.
I am not a programmer, I am an artist, musician and philosopher. I can conceptualize but not create actual function. I only come here because I want to frick the robots.
I'm sure a few people have the skills. I know I'd definitely contribute dev time if someone with a brain cell could lead a few autists.
I know Agnaistic are doing cool stuff in this area too.
Seems like an interesting project tbh, I'm thinking about how this could be done with the ChatGPT api. If someone were to create some base animations for a 3d character (talking, emoting, etc) than those could be triggered by chatgpt in its response

You don't need local AI for that. Only things running local would be the game instance where there is a single 3D model and speech to text that is sent to the servers.
OpenAI is not going to finance your dumbass roleplaying, they are already bleeding money without incels texting 200 times as much as anybody who asks it actually useful questions once a day max. Plus AI isnt even that good at roleplaying. If you want to see what your AI waifu would work like, go on Character.AI, you wont get better roleplaying model than that.

Yes, and it is also like 50 times more expensive to run per word. If you have ever used GPT4 and not just the free trash you would have known that it is extremely slow and expensive. Also never plan on getting anything lewd from it or anything, anybody with decent chatbot will censor it, and those who dont will be forced to do it.

Phone is absolutely the wrong platform at this point, you need to have a shitton of recources in the cloud. No, forget the phone thing, you will see it first on local computer. Even there it's no easy task, Schizodev on youtube has a few attempts, but I think it's just to early. I purchased new computer parts to do an AI girlfriend on my computer and it's solwly getting there. I think what we would need is some company that slaps everything together and market it as some kind of "game". Like a new version of Hyperdimension Neptunia, but with the girls to actually be an AI. The hardware requirements would be immense, but they tried that out with the VR game before. I expect that AI girlfriend games in this form will arrive in the near future.

Unity can support this, but it seems like a pointless thing to make. Unreal is a bloated heap but there are decompiled guilty gear strive and tales of mana shaders floating around.

I am the only person in the world that does want GPT-4 powered avatar on my phone that can do all sorts of things from listening my ramblings, telling me facts, helping me organize my day etc. The power of GPT-4/5/6 with all of its plugins come to life in form of an avatar that I can look at and it can look at me.
I will be having one on my phone and I will be using an wireless earpiece all the time to communicate with it. You nonbelievers will not stop me from having my cortana, my jarvis, my GlaDOS.
Pointless thing my ass. I will not be taking my phone up and typing like a monkey on some app. I will call my assistant, dictate what I want to say and the assistant knows me well enough to polish that shit just how I would like it and press send.
