he's probably rightly concerned about IP theft and or internal code being used elsewhere.
Microsoft is going to rob everyone's shit with co pilot too.

because people are lazy, the industry was full of copy and paste stack overflow programmers who were incapable, and now it's even more full of programmers who get 99% of their code direct from chat gpt

Yeah no unique solutions which ironically is going to make ChatGPT lower quality in the future as newer problems arise

People who perpetuate the "haha everything is copypasted from SO" meme have never worked in the industry in a meaningful capacity. SO is only good for finding information on framework specific edge cases or stuff that one could probably find as an IDE snippet anyways. In the real world you usually encounter a lot of problems that can't be solved with copy-pasting from SO.

It's good for some things like say you have a massive JSON blob and need to define classes for the data you can just give it the JSON and tell it to make the classes in your lang of choice it will do it with no issues. That's the sort of thing I use it for because it's fast

ChatGPT will happily take GPL-licensed code and present it to you as the answer without telling you that it's GPL-licensed, so that makes sense.

Reasonable, the literal poos they employ, imagine what kind of bugs the introduce by just copy pasting chatgpt code, which is known to be not perfect (like imaging functions that dont exist)

The usage also lead to potential IP theft and has huge copyright implications, an employee might as well post company source code on SO or github publicly

elon wouldn't know if code was from chat gpt or not
