Reminds me of Taxi drivers and Uber / Lyft.
At first Taxi drivers loved them because it allowed them to use their work cars in between shifts for extra money and convenience that was essentially tax free.
Then it become competition and they got angry and started protesting.

There are no goalposts being moved, the goal of "This is not only great art, but it can completely replace even a competent artist" is simply further away or even incompatible due to the intrinsic nature of the technology.
It's because initially the contractor apps were splashing around good deals for customers and contractors, since they were baited services. The goal was always to drive competitors like Taxis out of business and then run an extortion racket to fleece the contractors for unregulated labor at less than minimum wage to access the captive audience that would be paying increasing amounts of money to the company and not the contractors.

I don't hate AI as much as I just don't see what the buzz is about, I visit some threads like these and the stable diffusion threads looking for generated images/videos that would blow me away and convince me that AI is this awesome thing I should care about, but this has yet to happen. I don't get why you guys are this excited about something that isn't even good yet, maybe when it actually becomes good and you can make cool images without having to wade through like 100 images and then still have to photoshop the obvious defects out. Even in the AI threads where I assume the best images are posted, they're still mediocre as frick and not really exciting at all.
