AI aiding normies with solution-lego blocks is the future, imho. AI will take menial part of the work, and make boring text structures out of easy to use graph diagrams.

"AI" gets one thing wrong so you spend more time actually fixing what it fricked up because its moronic, than if you had just done it yourself.

imagine everyone being scammed by a company that does google searches faster but is confident in those google searches even though its always wrong.

They will most likely just automate the most common bullshit. The things that even Pajets get right most of the time.

The problem is that the height of what it can automate now is just the snippets we already generate with a click. except you have to tell it in natural language instead of using a shortcut, and it's slow as frick.
Maybe in 10 years it'll be able to do "supersnippets" that are polymorphic on context. Until then it's all a meme.

          There are repetitive things.
One could ask AI to generate 100 versions of some character, with a few prompts...

          Time willl tell ofc.

            Anonymous

The problem is that you have to manually currate all 100 variations. Instead you can generate some algorithmic variations that are always correct because they are structural instead of de novo.

Well no there are uses for AI but at some point you want to optimize code or need something less computationally expensive than AI inference and doing the same thing twice is never efficient.

It's a nice talk, but none of his reasoning backs up his optimistic outlook on AI. Moore's law applies to transistor counts; it says nothing belying diminishing returns from those transistor counts.

He also shows a very superficial understanding of """AI""" (beside which he shows 0 understanding of its timeline or history, and doesn't even use the right terms: here he means neural networks exclusively, nothing else, not RL and not expert system and not SVMs for example).

That is assuming you know how the solution it's trying to implement is supposed to work, which is only obvious for trivial stuff. But for anything complex you will run into the question: Is this not making any sense because my lack of understanding, or is it because the code is just garbage in the first place? Trying to do guesswork on what the idea behind some code could be is not easier than coming up with some ideas yourself.
