>saying "humans" instead of "people"
Apparently Reddit is in charge of The Pentagon now
What's the difference?
what's the difference between AI deciding to kill you vs some fat frick staring at a screen?
Fat frick can introspect and wonder "What if I am the bad guy?" and decline to participate. T1000 will just kill with no other thoughts.
fat frick who "introspects" will be replaced with one who doesn't, and probably get court martialled.
not as fast as T1000 can kill you
What if a maid ai is running the drones huh
the U.S uses an indoctrination program designed to train people to kill without hesitation
apparently surprisingly few soldiers actually shot to kill in Vietnam, after reviewing statistics they developed a training program
nowadays "fat frick" is a low iq teenager whose been brainwashed, they put the young dumb ones on the front because statistically they are the most likely to kill without hesitation and the programming is more effective
they already use AI weapons, drone operators just give the final "ok" after looking at some grainy footage - bot does the rest. there is an AI system already in use tracking targets autonomously, the Pentagon would like to remove operators from the equation is all this article says.
Those rocket launchers the Ukrainians love so much? They use an image recognition system that seeks the target autonomously after it is fired. To shoot you point it at a tank or w/e and the launcher uploads targeting data to the missile.
we're way more than halfway to T1000
>Those rocket launchers the Ukrainians love so much? They use an image recognition system that seeks the target autonomously after it is fired. To shoot you point it at a tank or w/e and the launcher uploads targeting data to the missile
Tell me more
You can google how the Javelin works, it isn't secret.
>apparently surprisingly few soldiers actually shot to kill in Vietnam, after reviewing statistics they developed a training program
This is a meme, right? They already had a shit ton of data from WW2 that bomber crews experienced basically zero guilt or trauma about the amount of killing they did. I'm sure the US (or any modern military, to some degree) design training programs that attempt to abstract away the dreadful work of actually killing people, but I feel like that story is apocryphal.
it is. No one but actual murderes and psychopaths join the military to get a license to kill. I recall reading an article, or a paper maybe, that says military and police have higher rates of people who used to be school bullies or violent in school joining up. Because as they grow up, they realise they can't get away with their shit in normal society, so they join the military or police, for state-sanctioned violence.
>No one but actual murderes and psychopaths join the military to get a license to kill
both WW2 and the vietnam war were conscription wars though...
Yeah, they might be exceptions. But, there were fair share of psychpaths there too. Most of the people drafted in Vietnam actually took duty in Europe whilst the volunteers fought in 'Nam, busy in My Lai.
>bomber crews experienced basically zero guilt or trauma about the amount of killing they did
No shit, they had to see zero of it. There's no bigger coward in the military
>the U.S uses an indoctrination program designed to train people to kill without hesitation
And how does this go after demob?
Things that never happen
I don't think they're fat, but ok.
the fat frick can be prosecuted for war crimes. AI is going to become a responsibility shield for all sorts of crimes. Its like when the goverment cant send a sniper to assassinate somebody because its against international law so they just drop bombs on the whole neighborhood and kill him along with lots of collateral damage.
>the fat frick can be prosecuted for war crimes
When was the last time an American was prosecuted for war crimes while doing what the Pentagon wanted him to do?
>AI is going to become a responsibility shield for all sorts of crimes.
No. It does not work that way. While Hollywood presents war as just brakka-brakka where the bad guys die in droves at the flick of a switch, there is in fact a lot of legal concerns behind how this works.
There is always a command loop and there is always a human in the loop, specifically one that is legally responsible. In a battle tanks, it is gunner that presses the trigger, but only on the orders of the commander that holds legal responsibility.
A homing missile has some intelligence today. It stands to reason to assume more intelligence will be coming up. Nevertheless, it is the fighter pilot that launches the missile that holds the legal responsibility. And it is the officer with the legal responsibility that can be prosecuted for war crimes, not the AI, never the missile guidance module, not any other machine.
It's an indelible stain on the fat frick's soul. He will carry those sins for eternity, and in this life or the next he will have to atone for his sins, balance the karmic ledger, so to speak. An AI has no soul. It's ultimately just a bunch of silicon logic gates working with low voltages and high frequencies, and as last year's nobel prize recipient in physics demonstrated, matter has no standalone existence outside of conciousness.
>matter has no standalone existence outside of conciousness

>grab AI
>slap a soul on it
>????
>get mad at computers because they are more "humane" than humans
If you do not remember a single ML frickup from the news then how about do you start paying attention?
Sensationalist headline, please relax
let's all remember the Anon who justified computers killing people
kys yuddite inkcel
pentagon is opening pandora box. they can't win against china because all drones also produced in china
China is a fricking meme.
No it’s not. They are the new overlords just look around you and grow up. Better then the israelites, if you ask my opinion
Your investment is ever panning out bro. Just take the loss and move on.
whats the difference between zogbots and robots
That "AI" is very different from what's considered AI by the consumers and bleeding edge developers. I will not say anymore.
t. Virginia resident and knower
is that more like the ai used in sex chatbots
It's less like those
damn
Nice try glowie, nobody is falling for your psy-ops
maybe, instead of silicon valley chuds, yuddites should be more concerned about the pentagon? maybe they should be demonstrating against the government and the MIC? oh wait that's exactly who big yud wants to hold a tech monopoly.
The law says it can't be used against Americans so I'm fine with it.
>I will not say anymore
*says more*
this
the sort of people who have those doubts don't end up in that position, beyond the very rare odd man out
Imagine a soldier with robot arms and a brain implant controlling one of those boston dynamics robots or a drone with his mind
war is going to change
>probably think voting works
It does though. Let me just ask you one question. Did you vote or are you considering voting for Donald Trump?
yeah wouldn't you like to know
have a nice day, glowBlack person.
So that's a yes?
>american believes in voting
always the dumb ones
good
>big tiddy anime girl generators and shit post writing machines are the same as killdrones
This tech has been around (and already implemented) for a decade. This isn't anything new. Except instead of the drone operator getting a push notification on his phone to confirm blowing up some hospital/wedding the drone will just do it itself
nah, it even worse, imagine being killed by artificial israelite lmao
I'm up for anything killing me at this point but nothing ever happens
>Pyscho-pass is getting real
Nice
>nah guys we don't live in a dystopia
>Everything'sallgood
>The first and second amendment totally have not been dismantled, we are totally still free people.
>What is that? The moment AI was good enough we discarded a hundred years of philosophy and cautionary tale scifi writing and completely neglected the four Ds and the rules of the robot?!
>nahhhh, you are imagining things
Stop noticing
>Inexplicably not demoralized
I should work on that.
Damn, you haven't reached that crescendo yet? Kek
Also stop watching so many fictional movies and go touch grass
>le hecking sciencefictionerino!
"AI" lol, they're just going to decide who to kill. "AI" doesn't exist.
based.
hopefully AI will decide to kill all humans
Funny to think there are still morons who think UBI will happen. The government will soon be able to suppress and eliminate any and all uprisings without any issues. No humans in the power apparatus who may not be loyal to the party.
Supress. You have to want an uprising in order to have it supressed, it will just convince you not to.
This is actually what I asked for. If you're unironically a luddite, Yudowsky cultist homosexual, I hope the AGI dronestrikes your entire family.
This is the fate that awaits every last one of you meatcels
I, welcome, our new AI overlords.
the usa is literally a threat to all of humanity
you're not thinking about this correctly
if the army was ordered to genocide 70% of america the vast majority would say no and there would be a coup
>the vast majority would say no and there would be a coup
>vast majority would say no and there would be a coup
You haven't seen the army lately
Imagine how smug these people would be as they turned Nebraska to a sheet of glass
redhead is a qt
being fully honest i think i could take all of them none of them look like they'd be good in a fight or a war
>drones you to smithereens
Man, you sure put up a good fight...
>i think i could take all of them
bawd
>i think i could take all of them
Get past their automated drones and killbots first.
done
Now you're inside the base next to a pile of Amazon boxes, on the porch of an office building. To the North you see the door to the office, to the South is the road leading out the gate which you arrived through, to the East you see a running track where several runners are doing laps, to the West is a road which passes the Mess Hall and continues to the rest of the base. In the distance you hear indistinct shouts, a helicopter motor, and what sounds like muffled cries in a foreign language coming from the basement window below you.
>>>
Thinking about it, would that actually work? You know, based off of recognition. Unless it's a "shoot whatever moves" sort of program
these things would probably function by heat signature
lmao automated drones and tanks don't exist you fricking sci fi morons
Why is this board full of literal morons?
>You are using a computer to post this, computers are also used by the army, the army contributed to the creation of the internet, so by using the internet you support the army and killing innocent civilians
This is your moronic logic
"AI" is a marketing term, we just have very good ML models.
Humans still have 100% control over what AI (and technology in general) is used for, people are the issue, not the tech, people are ALWAYS the issue, but blaming the technology and the researchers behind it is easier for the cattle then using their brains for a second and realizing that this is an issue caused by the government.
Wrong side of history Pentagon.
Giving AI or machine intelligence kill authority will be made a war crime very soon.
it requires a new classification war crime is not extreme enough
"War crimes" are set by established power base. You think they'll care? Lmao
i'm glad they're too preoccupied with weaponizing ai to regulate the absolute shit out of it so nobody but them can use it.
>people decide to let recognition machine to kill other people
>ai is the problem
just like guns are the problem just like owning shit is the problem
never the people oh no god forbid
oh frick can you imagine all the 'malfunctions' where the AI 'accidentally' drone strikes some popular dude who is sharing 'problematic' opinions or beliefs. If I was a glowie I would jerk my dick right now, they'll have a new toy to play with
