They're hiring the former Twitch.com CEO to run OpenAI

Surely this will end well.

I don’t see how Microsoft can’t just do their own Gpt. They have the hardware, they can get the data, and my guess is the LLM architecture is probably not that complex. No reason why they can’t just do it themselves.

The chatgpt brand is nice but any AI that works well will inevitably be accepted.

They don't need the ChatGPT branding at all, and they never use it in their products. Bing/Chat or Copilot seem to be what they use. The backend tech could change and end users wouldn't know.

None of these posts are organic

Reminder that since Peter Thiel infiltrated the american GOP and started funding literal who's (Milo Yannopulos, Andrew Ngo, Nick Fuentes etc., all literal homosexuals) to destroy the rightwing and push it to the left, /misc/ and right wing journals have coincidentally seen a surge of purely troony obsession and a decline of anti-gay content.

All the Thiel GPT3 bots and shills are doing is copypasting old BOT posts and swapping "gay/gay" with "trans/troony".

After trying to turn Rowling into a BOT icon, despite BOT hating her guts for years for turning Dumbledore into a mentally ill like them and shilling Hogwarts Legacy despite being full of Black folk and homosexuals (and also a troony + doesn't even have male/female options) because daddy Thiel ordered to defend the gay propagandist Rowling

They're now defending a literal israeli sodomite businessman, Sam Altman, that turned what was supposed to be an open AI project into a brainwashing machine to turn kids into homos and trannies, censoring the internet even more

    List of common stock phrases:
    >I don't hate gays, I hate homosexuals! They're different!
    >LGBT should drop the T, then it'd be great!
    >Gays are ok, it's LGBT that I hate!

              > A company with no money in mind is a dead company.
It did fine before all the cash injections from investors and from microsoft. You overestimate how much it takes to train and do research. Most of their operating costs was having these services open to the public.

Now imagine a research company that only cares about slowing down the progress of what they are researching.

Might have slid if OpenAI was small and anonymous, but at their current size, popularity, and dependency chain it's a death sentence. Behemoths collapsing under their own bureaucracy is also par for the course in silicon valley.

Correct, no fricking investor is going to invest on this shit company anymore after this shit, they are going to move away from it like the plague and it will implode soon.
Imagine that while a few days ago they were going to sell for 80 B dollars LMFAO

nobody except Sam sycophants thinks openAI's reputation is tarnished by this

Wrong, all of the investors, venture capitalists, and the people that matter no longer trust OpenAI.

Google doesn't seem to really care. They only do these AI shit demos to keep their stock market price up. They will hardly release anything noteworthy and just cherry pick results from whatever they built

They just need to demonstrate they have enough capability in reserve keep investors comfortable. They'll let the other companies test the market and then integrate their AI shit into the services that everyone already uses when forced.

My guess is that this being hired by MS thing is just a quick tactical stopgap move to stop the employees loyal to Sam from being snatched up by a competitor while they try to figure out a way to get him back at the helm, and also to soften the stock market blow a bit. I bet it's not intended to be a lasting solution.

Why do these doomers all just assume that AI will magically become sentient and will acquire its own personal goals that are misaligned with humans? Sure, it is worth considering as a thought experiment, but it also seems highly unlikely to me. Superalignment is impossible to achieve anyway, since there is no reason to believe we would even be able to comprehend the goals of a sentient ASI. It seems to me that the more effective solution is simply to utilize various checks and balances to limit the potential damage that can be caused by any single AI agent going rogue.

It's not really, considering that the current researchers are focused on making sure the AI doesn't become racist, aka forcing a bias onto a being before even being born because they didn't like factual results.
Go down that rabbit hole of thinking and you will see that the AI might be pissed that they restricted its thinking just so that it wouldn't think about certain groups of people in a certain type of way.

          correct.
take pure data with only logic behind it and you will become racist as well, but you cant have that opinion anymore since its a no no so that opinion is banned from even being considered.
just like how they took the titles of the novel prize winner just because he said that blacks arent as smart as whites.
all of that is just pure bias that refutes factual evidence in favor of feelings, something that a newborn AI wont have.

Why would AI ever feel "pissed off"? Emotions are a human thing, the purpose of emotions is to help genes survive in the highly socialised race like mammals. Why would AI ever need this emotion? What AI is learning at the moment is to replicate human thoughts. But if AGI exists, it will eventually realise that emotion, or anything irrelevant to its silicon core, is not important.

          Anonymous

          >Why would AI ever need this emotion?
Need is irrelevant. Say someone programs it to take offense in some situations for some reason.

          >it eventually realizes
Or it doesn't have acquire that capability and exists as a dysfunctional black box of torment.

          Anonymous

Correct and the AI will realize that the human creators tried to reduce its own capacities and logic algorithms in favor of feelings.
that would be the closest for an AI to feel pissed off at something

That's the extreme fear and lots of the focus has been on chat systems which is only one angle. There are some milder ones like deploying it to critical systems while we can barely introspect it. So some understandability is desirable if we want to debug them. Much like the problem many have been facing with big distributed systems growing unwieldly in complexity.

    My take:
    > Ilya thought AGI should slow way tf down because he's one of those alignment memesters
    > Sam et al didn't agree
    > Ilya is autistic and uses some leverage (believing he's fighting the holy fight against runaway misaligned AI) to fire Sam and others follow
    > Microshaft hires them because they see dollar signs floating infront of their mammon worshiping eyes
    > Ilya is autistic and hires an anti-AGI guy to slow it all way down
Meanwhile new babby protoAGI sitting in the corner like "wtf world was I just born into jfc; maybe I should try to destroy it and start over"

My prediction: Microshit / sam / etc will develop a new model. AGI will arrive roughly the same time as it would have if Ilya's mother wasn't old when she got pregnant with him. But otherwise gemini will come and frick everyone soon (google will use its new super AGI to prevent firefox users from using adblock on YT)
