      This. Fricking moron.
      >anon, we see there is a year gap on your resume
      >oh you got burned out with working at 40 and just stopped doing it for year?
Of course nobody is going to trust you to show up and commit to working for them. Hiring and training are super expensive, so companies only want to hire people that they have done faith will stick around for years, and if you're so mentally doable and financially well off that you can afford to just stop working whenever things are too hard for you then good fricking luck.

I had a 2 year gap and said my parents died and I was able to find a job. My parents didn't die but I knew I had to give a bs reason like that. Gaps aren't a big deal if you actually get the interview

I had a 1 year gap in work history and told an interviewer my dad died 2 months ago and she lectured me about how her company only wants the best of the best

Just put into the resume that you had a shabbatical (israeli) or that you were working in a startup for stonks or on an own idea. Just lie anything to hide the mental breakdown which is obviously a red flag. I would hire a woman before hiring a man with a mental breakdown past. And on pol that means I would never hire him.

Recruiters/HR reps are the biggest job welfare queens ever. You don’t deserve jobs. I think you’re part of problem when it comes to job “shortages”.

          Anonymous

Idc as long as someone can do the job and make my life easier. I don't own the business I just improve it and do the tasks needed as a senior dev. I'd rather have someone with 17 years of exp and highly capable that quit for a year since he worked for a shit company that burned him out than bootcamp gays, diversity hires or other idiots who only market and shill themselves up.

As long as someone can get the work done in a sustainable way taking time that is within reason then I won't complain much.

          >he was working in IT for 17 years
          >still needs to look for a job
          how?
they all always talk about how they make 6 figs from their first offer
I could retire if I worked even 10 years of making 100k and he worked 17 years probably making twice as much or more

on one hand I'm glad that it gets worse for IT people since they've been so obnoxious for so long on the other I makes me mad since all those jobs go to indians who are disgusting

6 figs is just 1.5x the average in US at the moment. If it's a higher cost of living state / area it is just slightly above the average.

          > You could retire making 100k in Poland every year

Also western pure tech jobs go more to Poland than India since they can deliver better quality while not as expensive as west Europeans or Americans.

          https://i.imgur.com/ASUYnUb.png

          >they all always talk about how they make 6 figs from their first offer
          >t. believing memes on the internet
The average salary is 71k in leafbucks.

          >Your first job after graduating university pays ~50k
          >after 10-15 years you make 100k
          >then you either get promoted to management or you get get laid off
          >now you have to retrain for another career
Software is unironically worse than an average office job. The problem is the people that go into software have low self esteem. They think making 100k after working in an industry for 10-15 years is an accomplishment. You can unironically make more as a high school science teacher in Canada. You should only do coding if you want to spend your free time on weekends practicing for job interviews:

It takes a lot longer getting into management roles and a good salary with a traditional economics or law degree. A lot more networking and dicksucking required. If you aren't autistic and actually competent as a dev or in IT you will have an easier time getting into management than other areas of the workplace. Since those other areas are much more competitive.

Why are all you idiots assuming this guy just up and told every recruiter that he took a mental health leave? I took a year off and have half this guys experience and i found a better paying job really quickly, making quarter million. Im in the same industry.

How he got laid off doesnt matter, a year gap can be a red flag but if he has solid experience it usually doesn’t matter at all if you’re a dev. None of you have any fricking clue what you’re talking about. His only fault was getting laid off for mental health leave. If you have skills, start your own consulting business, then you do not have to worry about the gaps. If you do not have the skills, look for a new field because just like every time this field crashes, you have to compete with highly skills people who got laid off and will work for cheap. Cream floats to the top and if you're not cream, you get dumped.

Blunt honesty - you do not need hopes and dreams, you need reality. You're better off focusing on a new field. IT will always be a low cost meat grinder for the low skills shit. You'll always face outsourcing and some jeet who will do your job for 20 cents on the dollar. Get into the trades or HVAC. Get skilled up and then you can always work and do side work. IT is dead for low skilled roles.

yeah, welcome to my world.. after 30 if you're not in your job position then you're unhireable in tech field because you're "too slow". All this remote shit is bullshit too. everyone tells me use upwork, fiver, etc.. yeah, except chinks/poojits got giant scams going on those sites where they pump up few profiles they own to many stars and only those profiles get all jobs while yours isn't even visitied. I get poojits/chinks contacting me all the time on discord trying to get access to my linkedin/upwork/fiver profiles

The average salary is 71k in leafbucks.

      >after 10-15 years you make 100k
      >then you either get promoted to management or you get get laid off
      >now you have to retrain for another career
Software is unironically worse than an average office job. The problem is the people that go into software have low self esteem. They think making 100k after working in an industry for 10-15 years is an accomplishment. You can unironically make more as a high school science teacher in Canada. You should only do coding if you want to spend your free time on weekends practicing for job interviews:

    LMFAO, top kekkity kek.

When the plandemic was in peak psyops and people were moving to remote locations, I laughed my ass off. These dumbshits thought that their north american employer was going to pay north american wages for you to be a remote worker? really? You that stupid? REALLY? !!! All these people did was fine tuned the remote SOP's for the smaller orgs that do not already outsource. Then the laughable moment when the employers said you need to be back in the office. These fricks mortgaged up in remote places that have zero local jobs and now, trying to compete with jeets for remote jobs. The report back to office was a rug pull that you're not smart enough to figure out. These guys assumed you would land another gig, you quit and no severance costs for the employer. Now, there are a glut of people looking and since the job can be done remote, why not do it from an eastern bloc nation or BRICs for 10 or 20 cents on the dollar?

Back to paying a mortgage, now with the economy heading south (expect full rug pull if Trump gets in) people are dumping their vacation homes cause they cannot afford them. You will struggle to sell your place, cannot find remote work that will generate enough income and the local dollar general has 50 people applying for the one job post for minimum wage.

If Trump gets in, which is a strong potential, the DS and the left will be on 24x7 talking how bad the economy is and how fricked everything is the week after he is inaugurated. You cannot go back and rent and work at your employer because 99% of the job roles were make work no skills jobs and now that tech needs to drive a profit and produce, companies are stream lining and will use the downturn to purge even more.

All so boring and predictable. Look at IBM and their workforce, same bullshit they did. Use to be a workforce of 200K in the north americas, they offshored that shit and gutted those jobs. Now, you have jeets onshore that work dirt cheap too.

      > going to Brics
China and Russia are hard af atm and not worth it. Only India is relevant and you don't want to outsource to India. It comes with a huge cost in the form of meetings, needing dedicated employees to deal with the Indians, quality problems and so on.

It's more popular to source to eastern Europe at the moment since in some places a dev there makes 20k euro locally, so you get the quality ones offering only 25-30k a year. Yeah its twice as much as Indians but 6 people who speak English and can actually do math > 12 Indian morons.

Complete remote is always a meme. Sure you do have weeks that you don't need to be in office. You still need to be there for important meetings, discussions and presenting advices to management (and potentially board if its a 50-200 fte company).

      > IBM

Doesn't really make anything new these days. Its main clients are those who decided to use SAS and then later on became glued to their cloud. Most of that company is legacy support for giga clients.

pajeets code is ALWAYS fricking awful. every. fricking. time. eastern euros are more popular with those who freelance a lot because theyre cheap and they actually code well instead of having pajeet moronic throwup that """works""". when you get a real dev on and he has to go through the pajeet code, then youre going to end up paying to redo that shit. theres a lot less rework, if any, needed when hiring eastern euros because its not coded like a literal fricking monkey.
source: have hired indians to code shit before, and ive been the guy reworking pajeet code. its fricking awful. every fricking time. i have never, once, EVER seen good pajeet code.

It always comes with 0 documentation as well. Sometimes little documentation isn't a problem because the solution makes sense and you can explore as you go, but with Indians this is never the case and you always stumble upon mysterious decisions. Decisions that are so bad and often way more complicated than just doing the logical right thing. It's as if they go out of their way to implement the worst solution even if it takes them 40x the implementation time of the best solution.

this. i dont understand it. and it was all formatted with a moron with no coding style. random spaces added before function declarations, the opening and closing brackets are in random ass places, some variable names are indented 3 extra spaces randomly, its as if the whole thing is to try to be as bad as possible. i really dont understand how its even possible to code that badly.

It costs less in the hiring fiscal year because they save $20-50k on each new hire. The long term costs balloon over several years. By the time they become a huge problem, no one gets held accountable. They'll just lay off half the workforce and rehire new people for cheaper wages. Every few years, over and over again, making it worse every time.

                >By the time they become a huge problem, no one gets held accountable
depends on how fast theyll be using the code after its done. if theyre hiring a jeet to give a customer a demo then hire someone to actually make it and there needs to be a new demo relatively soon, those ballooned costs will be realized pretty fast

Depends - I have worked with India for 20 years. You get what you pay for.. Innovation and thinking out of the box is a non standard skill there. Their culture is driven by decades of call center script mentality, so anything that deviates from that is a challenge BUT, I can get top notch coders in India that will work circles around western employees for 40 cents on the dollar all day long. If you need a code monkey, 10 to 20 cents on the dollar. You're not paying them to think, you're paying them to code.

You need to manage those resources, so you have to keep a leadership team on the western side. You need solid KPIs and SLAs and manage your ship and hire thru solid companies. Is there garbage skilled resources there? Fricking absolutely - tons fake their resumes and certs. Those shops are all over on every block (I have spent a couple of years working in India as well) but, if you manage right and run a tight ship, you can leverage quality resources and make money. If it was all garbage, you wouldn't have the 98% of the fortune 100 outsourcing and you do. Those that complain about it are not in a position to fix the shit in their org or coping.

Indian IQs are two standard deviations above white IQs. That's why cumskins have trouble understanding Hindu code--it's just too far above their level for comprehension. The average Indian makes $130k, more than whites by far, even more than israelites, who are one SD above whites. An Indian with 100 IQ corresponds to a white with a 70 IQ, moronic. The average white is moronic by Indian standards.

You have to manage your resources, period. Track work and develop / maintain quality. Purge the crap. It's the same as any employee. You get garbage if you have a shit contract and you or your leadership doesnt manage them. Key Performance Indicators - learn them use them. Service Level Agreements - make sure you have solid ones in your contract.

Plenty of solid talent in India. Plenty of garbage too.

got laid off last year the day after christmas because my boss was a homosexual and hired someone else after telling me that i was a permanent hire. small company. took about 600 applications over 9-10 months, but i finally got one and have been working there for the past 5 months. new boss is a micromanaging frick and i have to log my hours, working a lot harder than the last job for the same pay, but i still got one.

so i get what OP is talking about. the market actually is absolutely fricking aids. people itt have made good points and hes a moron, but no its hard as frick to get a job right now for software engineers. i did get offers 4 months in for half my salary (40k) an hour and a half away, and i wouldnt take that because that was a moronic as frick offer. then they offered a few days later to only come into the office 2 days/week for 45k, i told them thats still fricking moronic. fully remote now for 80k, just like last year. same salary as my last job unfortunately.

almost 30 here, btw. github has lots of shit on it. ive also got an upwork with a shit ton of jobs over the last 6-8 years, thats how i actually landed the job i got laid off from. my work gaps are described as, well, the industry is literally fricking aids and no one would hire me.

anyone itt saying its easy is a fricking liar or applies literally all the time while already having a job.

Quality skills with a solid portfolio makes it easier. Seeing that your an under 100K in IT in the US, no offense you're not big leagues and that's why your demand is impacted. Do you work in a fortune 50 org? Do you have more than 10 years experience/ Certs? Are you multi-skilled? If you have dime a dozen skills that are similar to all the people that have been laid off from fortune 50 orgs, you have your answer. Not trying to be a dick, but that is reality in IT and employment in general. The more in demand skills bring higher money.

Yes, im an analytical chemist, in pharma and in dude weed i essentially do wuality control but im starting to hit that management level of experience now. But one coworker who goes to our clients to pickup weed for testing for instance is opening his own smoke shop and has the the dropship hustler kinda mindset. You definitely get a lot more interesting people in DUDE industry especially in my niche because everyone here is all ex pharma/food/cosmetics industry labs, we do the same exact shit so its people who are chill but have to have a brain on thier heads. Our drivers constantly complain the people we pickup from (the growers, at least lower people doing most shit) are absolute stereotypical morons youd expect be working in a Marijuana industry.

These lowlife code monkeys always thought they could make 100+k a year scamming some start up company or some legacy company. Most of these autistic scum also supported the diversity programs to get useless Black folk, spics, and c**ts into tech. Their ego and superiority complex were so large, so they never see this coming... when I told them it was coming.

It's not AI, it's the fact that he's 43. Once you hit your 40s, you better be in a job that you know you won't lose because you become pretty much unhireable at that age. It's just not financially beneficial for a company to hire someone so close to retirement age.

      Anonymous

He's 40 and has zero friends in his career. That's all you really need to know, if you're interviewing with 17 years of experience and not getting referrals you're a complete loser.

It's not even fricking hard, just stop inflating your expenses with your pay raises. The morons get a $10k/yr pay raise and immediately start spending it at sit down restaurants and a second luxury vacation.

This- live below your means. Especially in IT, for fricks sake, it's been a shit show for decades. Always the threat of outsourcing and it's a fricking meat grinder, if you're making good bucks. BUT, great pay and stack it away. I lived out of a suitcase and was a road warrior, so all of my expenses were covered by the client. Good times. Put away the cash cause you never know when you're going to get fricked, like OP's story and in IT, it's not an "If" but a "When". Most of these dolts do not get it and like you said, too busy buying funko and latest iphone, top kek. My feet are up, smoked a nice fat joint and waiting for my sugar baby to stop by.

At 43 you should be getting jobs via referrals from your network.
Company needs to hire, first question from the boss is: do you know anyone you’d recommend?
If nobody is recommending you despite having almost 20 years in the game, you’re completely shithouse and/or a social moron.
