Dunno why people are hyped up. It's the same hysteria that happens from people who don't understand neural networks or machine learning and think it's the fucking terminator

And you'll keep saying it's not Skynet until the moment it is.

It might end up as skynet if it keeps going the way it is, but my point is, we're not approaching sentience with neural networks.

It's just a neat pathfinding quirk we learned from studying brain cells. And how we can simulate that in a computer is pretty neat

There is no financial benefit from killing chess with AI.

It did though. Remember the pajeet who was caught cheating with it in a tourney?

In reality sentient AI that is as complicated as a human being is possible and they can theoretically replace our jobs, but it will not happen in the next 500 years so why even care. People are computers themselves, an over-complicated biological computer that works on electronic impulses and bio-nary (I call the whole chemical interactions in your brain like this), so replicating a human brain with silicon, gold, platinum and copper, its entirely possible but not for now.

Why are you so confident in that?

        >500 years
        Another ass pull prophecy

The other neural structures are not quite simulated yet. It's happening pretty quickly, good strides in the visual cortex, but a large part of the brain is also its interaction with the real world.

Not only would we have to develop the human brain, but a full sensory experience for that brain. It's possible, but I don't think it's gonna happen the way people are thinking it's gonna happen. To just recreate everything perfectly would be to just genetically engineer a baby

That actually made chess much more popular.

Because people are interested in watching humans play chess, the process is what's interesting, not what the board looks like on the final turn. All that matters with programming, art, and everything else AI can automate is that final output.
