They only thing they can do is make deepfakes a crime like CSAM and then force some method of fingerprinting on the images. The cat is out of the bag now. And the US will not be able to enforce their digital laws on thirdies. Taylor is just seeking publicity because her music is not as popular as it used to be.

How are you going to fingerprint an array of pixels? The whole stack is also open source with SD. You can regulate it about as much as you can regulate hand drawn art.

Obviously. This statement is made redundant by the previous two sentences.
    >I don't want to go to jail for my own private celebrity "nudes"
If (probably when) the government regulates deepfakes it will be under the guise of intellectual property or libel or something, it would be impossible (and undesirable) to effectively regulate the output of image generation algorithms.
It's unlikely you will be targeted personally so long as you only ever use your collection for your personal viewing pleasure.

Does anyone know about laws around Photoshop and making fake nudes? Logically, I would imagine the government would start there to expand to include deepfakes. Although, that law doesn't seem to do much because Photoshop fake nudes are easy to find on the internet.

A lot of the current case law revolves around whether or not a conventional deepfake made using photoshop is transformative or not. In most cases it is and is therefore amenable to fair use.

I'd imagine AI deepfakes where TayTay is being gangbanged by five somalian dwarves would probably be considered transformative.

The cat is out of the bag here - even if the Americans somehow banned it, every other country in the world would still have access. And the implications are silly. It would mean that decades of bad fakes on imagefap would also be illegal.

But using Taylor "Industry Stooge" Swift makes it seem like the gov is up to something, even if they realize it is impractical to do anything. Maybe they are trying to whip women up into hysterics so the DNC can make some vague promise about regulation that won't materialize after the next election.

    >Does AI have a local option that's untraceable.
Basically, yes. I can run pretty decent image and text generation models on my gaming PC. It's very easy to install and use. They can push it out of the normie part of the web, but they literally cannot stop the distribution of AI models and software without taking absolute control over the Internet, which is not practical. Also, I'm not deleting the models & software I have, so as long as I have a PC that works, I will have AI. They don't know I have it and they can't stop me from using it.
I'm also not using it to make celebrity nudes or anything else that morally questionable, so I'm not really worried about that anyways. But for those who are, I wouldn't worry too much about it, just don't depend on the normiesphere, but you should be following that advice already anyways.

Yes, that's the goal. Regulating AI is meaningless if the internet is itself not locked down.
