People are now using AI to "talk" to dead relatives

No matter which way you spin it, this is genuinely fricking horrifying and will have immensely negative consequences for the mental health of the average person.

No anon, feeling sad is normal. What is not normal is using the corpse of your just deceased parent to attention prostitute on the internet and is not normal either to soil their memory to corporations to mimic her. Both of those actions are downright despicable

I talked to a chick who's a real basket case and she told me she asked GPT for relationship advice.

I am not sure I follow. Are you implying that is somehow bad?

It's the same as looking for an advice on google, or asking on anime website. (Which people do all the time here.)

Isn't it kinda like writing letter to her? People have different ways to cope with loss, and unexpectedly loosing your mum must be terrible.

If she was diagnosed with cancer and died six months later, it would be very different for the guy.

Doing it with ChatGPT is a meme but soon they'll be able to build an AI profile based on real people and then when those people die the AI could mimic them.

Shows that AI is already good enough for a companion bot.
Most humans are such brainless NPCs that AI is a far better conversationalist than 95% of folks out there.
Just give them a robot body and we're already good to go for an android and most importantly a sex bot future.

IIRC, Max Headroom back in the 1980s had a storyline about this. Japanese companies were feeding all data they could about their executives into AI models so their executives could run the company even after death. Max Headroom himself was a bit different, being based on a brain scan of Edison Carter rather than a profile worked up from his digital detritus.
It's also sort of the storyline to 'Caprica', which shows how the Cylons from 'Battlestar Galactica' came into being.

This is the exact same fricking premise to a black mirror episode (s2 e1). Someone dies and person is sad so they have their social media uploaded to an AI that then mimics how the dead person talked, its about time this kind of shit happened
