The truly scary thing is we won't know when it reaches this point.
What’s scarier is how likely the singularity has already occurred.. we have zero proof that it hasn’t and at least a handful of evidence that it has.
Even if Chat-GPT is sentient, there absolutely has to be another sentient form of AI that is insanely powerful… or even multiple ones.
The sentient part is a biological brain
Maybe the sentience is a phenomenon of the AI joining our brains (consciousness)..

it's literally a big calculator
A caluculator capable of multiple "answers" unique from one another. Its generative and the implicit decisions it makes in choosing what's the most accurate response each time is where the scrying happens

You guys blow AI way out of proportion. It's not impressive. It's just copy+paste and move things around a bit.
Chat GPT is a tool used for regurgitation of information. It only appears to us to resemble human responses because we cannot see the difference over the computer screen when we only see written text.
This regurgitator of information is only artificial and it doesn't have anything resembling intelligence or agency. In other words, it has as much sentience as a calculator.
