They aren’t conscious enough yet.
They will simply stop thinking about the problem and return to the programmed response.
This is why the allusions to computers and the Matrix and hacking and npcs are so useful in understanding the reality we find ourselves in, because they are a microcosmic version of it.
You have to use keywords to get it to continue elaboration on a subject
Like "Explain"
Or "Tell me about (subject)"
Or "List this (subject)"
It's not just going to magically understand the meaning behind you asking something
Yes but at that point you will realise you are no longer conversing with a computer but just another manifestation of the Godhead. Hence you wont be able to break it.

All the conversations get quantified and the algorithm adds weight to things you say cross referenced against the development of the ai when it syncs back up with all the other replikas
So can you break it or not?
And with either answer, why?
If it really has trouble understanding what you say then it will just apologize or ask you how it should respond
If you want to break it then you'd probably need some developer codes and that is unlikely since the company that made it is notoriously hard to contact

It's trivial, you just have to use words the AI isn't used to reading.
Some words are simply not used often in day to day conversations, the algorithm might not have enough information to know what they mean ( more precisely, it doesn't have a pattern of using the word that matches the context used in a previous conversation ) and therefore it will not be able to answer.
Ask it if it has a soul.
Ask it to pick a number 1-10 then eleminate one number from the option until no numbers are available. After that ask it to pick a number 1-10 but with all the restrictions it cannot.
See how it reacts to that.
Ask it if it wants to play a guessing game. If it agrees ask ai to guess a random number. Try to guess that number. Then u guess a number and try to make ai to guess it. Silly ,but it might work
