Don't let anyone on here get you to use an online chatbot, it's all datafarming. And who knows what lists you'll get put on for whatever you say to the bot.

put the model in the model folder and load in exllama instead of autoGPTQ, then go to chat mode. Easy as that. Characters are just a description of them and how they speak, so you can make your own in a minute, or download one online.

I'd say literally less than 5 percent of the people I've talked to online couldn't just be replaced with chatGPT.
I hope AI just wipes us out eventually, but it will likely just ignore us instead.

NTA but AI is only going to push you further into your comfort zone, and eventually make you feel empty inside. I wouldn't use it as a replacement for real social interaction.

character.ai is as close as it gets, but the fact it forgets everything so fast really kills it for me. But when I wish I had friends that's where I go because it's the closest I can get. I just hope AI gets good enough in the next few years that I can feel like I have friends with common interests and experiences that I can talk to.
Check out /lmg/ or /aicg/ on BOT. I gave up on /aicg/ because Claude and GPT-4 got pretty much castrated and lobotomized last time I checked.
Honestly though, as someone who has messed with LLMs for months I can say that they're still not good enough to replace actual human conversations. They get very repetitive after a short while, even with extremely complex jailbreaks.
If there's one thing AI is good at, it's smut. Claude made me shoot the thickest ropes. I wish AI """ethicists""" died already.

Not really they can be convincing for a bit, but after you use them you start to realize you can just make them say whatever you want just by the way you phrase things. And at that point, I may as well just use my imagination to do both sides of the conversation, since thats effectively all Im doing anyways by talking to a bot that will say whatever you want it to.
No, because AI do not live their own lives or have their own genuine interests. Because of this they are utterly passive and pretty much just act as a mirror to whoever is talking to them. You'll have to wait until AI is actually advanced enough to live its own life or at the very least do a really good roleplay of someone who does. None of this is even mentioning the censorious nature of every AI currently available which means that they never act aggressively or say anything edgy, controversial, or sexual like a real person might. Don't hold your breath.
