No but it did plateau in a way I wasn't expecting.
Probably the cause is lack of immediate practicality. SD and MJ can produce amazing images but you still need lots of practice to make anything good, plus the backlash against AI art is pretty strong still so people are afraid to use it commercially, twitter cancel mobs are still a thing. Also, it tends to make what it feels like making, rather than exactly what you want. Adds up to slow, rather than explosive, adoption and growth.
AI textbots have their hallucination problems, so you really need to double check things, even if they have better accuracy than a human on average, sometimes they'll make weird errors that a human wouldn't (like just making up legal casefiles) and also local models suck ass still so it's really just ChatGPT we're talking about here. OpenAI may have no moat, but no one seems to be storming the walls at the moment.
I use MJ all the time for my 3D art commercially and don't get any backlash. people just don't realize 3D art is being used if they creator doesn't out right say Ai used. Independent artists that aren't incorporating 3D art into their art are idiots. There's plenty of ways to use 3d art besides directly using just the 3D art image created. Like concepts, background stuff, graphics on shirts or other clothing.
3D art's always had unique use for "a bunch of noise that kind of looks like something." A lot of manipulated photos of real things. A lot of perlin noise algorithms. Not really in the spirit of "AI's gonna replace artists." CG artists use computers to help generate graphics.
it mainly plateau'd because the garden gnomes at "open" AI aren't letting everyone use GPT-4 for free. 99% of people are not paying extra to use GPT-4. And also people want to use it to make deepfakes and generate music and other shit with it. As soon as people started crying about copyright and ethics and started preventing people from making NSFW content with it, people stopped caring about it as much. Yeah, you can use stable diffusion, but you have to build it. Yeah you can use DALLE2, but it hasn't been updated in months, the quality is mediocre, and once you run out of credits you have to buy more. And everything else is very niche and gatekept almost. It was cool to everyone when they let everyone try out all these tools for free for a short time, but after that ended people just stopped caring. Now all this AI shit just going to be stuff that happens in the background that nobody will ever get to interact with.
if it's a man it doesn't matter
Im shooting a hot load inside. I don't have AIDS but I'd wish for AIDS to magically manifest in the massive warm load I shoot up his ass while I rape him
It moved from normie media publications up through american aristocracy media publications and now OpenAI is going to get the government to help create and defend their business model against upstart competitors.
AI hype was there to pump tech stocks up and stop them from cratering. It's nowhere near "actual AI" and is basically a marginally better autocomplete than your iOS messaging app.
ChatGPT is still used a lot, it's currently the go-to experimental technology for a lot of companies like how cloud computing was 10 years ago. As for the image rendering ones, I still see renders here and there, but the public largely rejected them for anything serious so the only applications I've seen that stuck have been people using them for placeholder art.
>WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! >installs stable diffusion plugin to gimp >DEATH IS IMMINENT >another news story about people btfo using chatgpt for their grading college papers, lawyer work, etc
>backlash >scrape vulnerable artists collections >train loras/hypernetworks on it >scrape their followers >game algorithms >never label as AI >decimate twitter art market
AI will always be relevant to somebody
Hype always dies, doesn't mean the AI communities aren't still booming. Do you really expect normie gays to talk about anything for more than a month? They don't even know the Russian and Ukraine war is still going on. lmao
not really. The only time there really is coverage is when something big happens. When it first started, there was coverage nearly if not every day and people would post about it constantly. Now, there's just too much other shit going on for people to care as much as they pretended to at the time.
nevertheless, the big money will be made in the future, so no the hype is not over - it's just that those who have no idea now shut up because they do not know how to continue ^^
did it, though?

Bard is pretty useful for getting quick summaries, but you're not wrong.
