Style cannot be protected by copyright.
The character you make fanart of is still copyrighted, companies like Disney can definitely sue you if you sell fanart of their characters.
AI doesn't "use" the original image it was trained on, it doesn't photobash pictures together. The entire process is transformative and there's no portion of the original piece.

NTA, but what this mentality means is that you'll basically never get any really great artists again. Because no one can fully dedicate themselves to art, they need to have a job besides that and only do art on the side. Basically all great artists have historically done art for money. Some of them made their best works for money. Others made their best works for themselves, but they made other art for money to fund that.

It's the autistic consoomer way of looking at creative media, such as drawn artwork, as some kind of problem to be solved. No different styles allowed, the only art that can be consoomed is what appears to be "high quality" or "masterpiece quality", and creativity must be punished for not fitting in with the accepted template. Perform hundreds of image generations with trial-and-error and get that "perfect masterpiece" image to coom to, until you get bored of it and try again.

Is a photo that you carelessly take with your smartphone, with no real care for detailed settings, proper framing, and setting up a scene, art? Probably not; most would just call that having fun. It becomes art, "photography", in the eyes of most when you put in the effort to learn the settings, find your style, and spend hours editing in photoshop after.

Clicking a button to generate some art from a few words you like /probably/ isn't art. Spending the time to learn settings like denoising strength, CFG, clip skip, etc., merging and training models, finding your style, and spending hours with inpainting, img2img, and manual postprocessing in pursuit of your perfect image is.

That's only the entry-level users. Plenty of people are already deep-diving and improving their skills with it substantially past the surface level. It's not just inputs, it's choosing/making a model and getting practice with all the different settings.

        Such is life.
If someone wants a real human to draw something for that added subjective value, they'll seek it out. I dunno why, but some people prefer things done a specific way even if the result is indistinguishable. Artists can and will survive on this base.

Some people value the labor, others don't. That how it be. Even when AI becomes widespread, at least one gay will go commission from a real person.
AI will cull a lot of artists and force them to get a job, but the practice itself won't go extinct.

And even if you then train a model of your cat, you're still not going to be able to separate the noise from what you actually want in your image. It's great being able to make random images better than a deviantart user, but you nigs could already do that if you knuckled down and spent a few hours studying instead of playing the prompt slot machine

There are even tards hyping up ai code generation

It is. It's mostly envy and people using it for things where the just specific enough generations are good enough. That's never been worth anything - before this, they were using Google Images, and somehow the artgays scraped by as they always have. Some gay being able to generate pictures of his fat mother as a boss for a DnD campaign isn't economically relevant, even if the pictures appeal to my inner architect

Proof of what? Creativity being more than just combining things you've seen? Someone could think of a way that a creature could fly in the air, without having seen anything that flies or has wings in his life. That's creativity. I guess the 'adding more to it' part is called innovation.

NTA but that's still just combining concepts. Flight is just "moving, but in the air". Also, someone who had somehow never been exposed to something that flies would be very, very unlikely to come up with the concept of it all on their own.
Just think about literally any artwork, character, fictional world, etc. You can always decompose it into simpler things, most of which come from nature or the work of someone else. Sonic is:
        >a hedgehog (nature)
        >that moves very fast (inspired by modern vehicles/planes)
        >and is blue (comes from an effect you see when planes break the sound barrier, though could also have been a decent random choice)
        >and is anthropomorphic (well-established concept in other franchises, but not particularly special either - it's just adding the "human" concept to the mix in a fairly sensible way)

Art is a legitimate trade and anything that obsoletes and therefore kills off all artists is bad. That perspective exists in a consumerist framework but is not itself consumerism. Sometimes there doesn't have to be. The entire "can't put the genie back in the bottle" argument implies an element of might makes right, as if the apparent irreversibility of progress makes it intrinsically moral, regardless of practical implications. Suppose, then, that we find a way to put the genie back in the bottle, no matter how violent that way may be. How do you then justify defending progress in the face of its obstruction and/or erasure? Might made right when might was on the side of progress, so if might suddenly sides against progress, why is it suddenly wrong?

Ai art does nothing to your ability to make and enjoy art as an artist.
What ai imagery does is take away your monopoly on online galleries.
I do not see any reason to hinder ai on the bases that human made art have a right to monopolize online galleries.
That is up to you and site owners to decide.

Soon enough vast majority of images created will be of ai origin and most being photographic in nature, ie stock art.
I suggest you create human art exclusive site to cater to your interests like everyone else as there is still time yet before synthetic imagery becomes impossible to tell from man made ones.

                Anonymous

Yes, human artists should monopolize the art market, and I can explain why.
Market share is a scarce resource.
The art market is, by definition, the market where artists' skill has value.
Competition for that market space is zero-sum. If ML bros claim it, that displaces artists.
Artists can't occupy a different market space because art is a hard-earned skill whose development is a massive time commitment. Meaning, if artists are displaced from the art market, they're excluded from the economy.
Exclusion from the economy is a death sentence.
All of this reasoning falls apart under communism. But like I said, we aren't there yet.

                Why?

Continuing your analogies, they are easy targets.

It turns out that digging a hole is actually a fairly complex task, and that arranging pixels according to keywords is simpler.

                >Why?
                Because we're the civilians.
                >easy targets
                Yeah. Like civilians.
Displacing artists from their only market space to protest capitalism and consumerism is no different from shooting your chill brother to protest your abusive dad.
You're supposed to shoot the dad, idiot. What's doing his job for him supposed to accomplish?

We don't have to win anyone over. That's only if we want to keep you from kicking us out of our own market in the first place, but keeping it from happening in the first place isn't the only way to stop it. There are at least two solutions to economic marginalization: negotiation before the fact, OR, uprising after the fact. We don't have to win you over because there are enough of us to *run* you over if you refuse to understand and insist on starting this war.

                No, it's competition.
You may call it unfair competition.
There is nobody stopping you from creating human made art only spaces online, where patrons can support you.

1st you presume ai art will never advance, now you presume death of all art.
                Hyperbole.

                Completely wrong, retard.
When there's an increase in prosperity due to cheaper goods, consumers can get more of them. Artists won't get excluded from the economy, they'll be pushed into a specific niche. The same thing happened with every craft that was automated in the past. People still make candles, even though we use lightbulbs. People still sew clothing by hand, even though we have factories. People still do traditional art, even though digital art is easier and cheaper to get into.

          To all AI bros:
          >But muh intellectual property isn't real!
          >Buh muh it's the same thing as a human learning art!
These points are too salient for your own good.
Reminder that Socrates was killed for being right.
Because he was wrong in spirit.
But too smart for anyone to tell him that without getting owned.
And people were sick of it.
Sick of him fucking everything over by being clever.
          So they just killed him.
That's what's gonna happen to you and your fancy GPU ghosts, do you understand?
You can outsmart and outargue artists all you want, but you can't outsmart hemlock.
This is what happens when you find an apparently rational excuse to exploit people and let them starve.
They get sick of starving, but your rational arguments hold them back.
Then they get too sick of starving to listen to reason.
And decide to eat the pigs no matter what sophistry they squeal.
You're a couple wrong moves from the grill

The same fate awaits them. Not only are ideas legitimate property no matter how much you cry about it, but also, by subjecting their workers to contracts, corporations privatize, subsidize, and monopolize ideas just like they do to all other kinds of property. Artists need to seize the means of intellectual production. Our minds are ours, not theirs.

      No, there is no "because."
Photography is art for a lot of reasons.
Many if not all of those reasons also apply to AI art, but AI art is still theft and not art, because it just is.
It's really that simple and I mean it completely sincerely.

      >AI ART IS SOULESS AND CAN ONLY MAKE ONE ARTSTYLE

      Pic rel

No, AI is genuinely starting to approach sentience, and it can make plenty of art styles.
      Don't care. Still theft

Being inspired by any other art is theft too if we're using your definition

          What definition?
No, being inspired by other art isn't theft if it's a human.
If it's an AI it's theft, because it just is.
          It's really that simple

          >photography is art but ai art is not
Art is literally just a meaningful human journey. If a human enjoys AI art and finds it meaningful, it is art.

          >Art is literally just a meaningful human journey.
          Sure.
          >If a human enjoys AI art and finds it meaningful, it is art.
          No because it's AI.
It doesn't matter how many definitions for art AI meets, it's still not art because it just isn't.

A post-scarcity society would be extremely dangerous. It would be the first time ever that the leaders did not need the population.

Luxury communism is too optimistic a prediction. We already live in a world where the many suffer needlessly because the few would rather hoard everything than help them. Do you really think that would change with unlimited resources? The one percent would just hoard the sources of the resources too.
Luxury communism will be achievable but it won't come naturally, we'll have to work for it. The road there will be the same as it is now and always has been: kill the rich.

Stealing data without consent is totally bad. And earning profits from them is so bad
Signatures watermark and game logos are there its paper dolled all together.

It is theft, it is anti human it is useless!

Ai coders should drop ai art and move on to other ai industry.

Or they cant because they are just puny losers who just steal images data without consent.

    They cant do medicine?
    They cant solve world hunger?

    It stupppiiiid as fuccccckkkkkkk
    Stupid stupid stupid

Meanwhile the court law will be balling in terms of copyright. And all these ai art profiters will easily get sued. Just try it and you'll see how difficult to sell legit products. Even fake market in india gets raided by police. But thats a different story, they are stealing it from unknown starving artist not prada.

self-identified velociraptor helicopter more like it
I'm talking about the majority of artists with any form of a digital footprint on the internet, most notably the e-beggars and the commission people. No, better yet, I'm talking about anyone who decided to start making money off of the internet and turn it into a social buygay shithole by being a complete sellout. I'm not worried about ai art. I just avoid it because looking at it for a while feels like showcrash. I also avoid the mediocre art it's about to replace, but only because it's too mass-appeal for my tastes.
If the artist wouldn't have drawn the picture without the promise of money, his art is unnecessary spam, clogging up the internet.
