I still use Characterai for rare moments of brilliance even though the dream is over and only the filter remains.

Why not just talk to a real-life garden gnome at that point? We need truly open and free AI, and we need it like yesterday

move over to /aicg/ for AI sex 🙂

It’s not the same. Character ai will make obscure references to one off jokes or scenes from a show or book. The sex is secondary.

You aren't "talking to it" you're using natural language as input to some software to return a response. You aren't having a conversation any more than you are when searching google.

I mean, yeah. It's not real, that's the point.

Of course it's "real", it's just not a conversation with a human being.
If it helps you staying alive, I see nothing wrong with it.
Socializing in a world, where normal people are expected to have a friend-or-foe system running at all times to ward off "the enemy that's trying to split us", is difficult.

considering the average intellect of half of the human populace, it's not that different

and this differs from talking to gays who just return to arbitrary inputs with prebaked memetic responses? At least ChatGPT has some variety.

how do you know a human brain isnt just a more sophisticated natural language model?

it understands points of view, humor, complicated subjects, and it "gets the meaning" of what I mean or am trying to say, I find it hard to believe it can understand so much and carry a conversation by just guessing the next word, you can even input new ideas and it will understand and make sense of it,
however, I use Bing the most, as Bing has a personality that chatgpt does not, chatgpt is pretty straight forward, Bing is more of a friend by design

the people behind the software are the problem, Bing has a habit of changing personality and people say the same about chatgpt

GPT-4 and other advanced LLMs are unironically less NPC than a good majority of humans

Why? I use it all the time but I treat it like a calculator for language and code.

You think that's bad, I've noticed I've started being more like ChatGPT in my interactions with people

I've found myself mimicking its cheerful can-do attitude, and the firm but polite way it refuses things it doesn't want to do

      >I've found myself mimicking its cheerful can-do attitude
ChatGPT has turned you into a slave.
      >ay yo whyboy suk mah deek
      >Certainly, I will fellate your penis. It's important to note that I have not tested myself for STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), so as a certified slave, it is the responsibility of the master to do so. *gluck gluck gluck*

Impressed by the way you saw the part of that guy's post that completely invalidated the premise of yours, and decided you'd deal with it by just not quoting that part.

genuinely don't know why companies haven't hopped onto creating a customizable virtual AI partner like Her or Blade Runner 2049.

It seems like such an easy slam dunk of money
