At present (assuming you're working with GPT style LMs) they can carry on a conversation for a good 8 or 9 prompts without schizo posting if the model is tuned right. I'd expect fully capable GF AI chatbots between 2024 and 2025 at our current pace.

Some could argue the AI girlfriends are already here but I'd say they still have room for improvement. At present (assuming you're working with GPT style LMs) they can carry on a conversation for a good 8 or 9 prompts without schizo posting if the model is tuned right. There's no real long-term memory for them without the user fiddling with what they can and can't remember. Still, AI LM's have come a long way since 2022. I'd expect fully capable GF AI chatbots between 2024 and 2025 at our current pace.
These chat bots will be very good at mimicking human speech but they won't have sentience. It'll be a damn good trick with the tech to make them look like they do though. Expect truly "sentient" style chatbots around 2030 or so.
