How long before AI can do animation?

The stills are cool and all, but I want to see this shit move.

It can be done but is a lot of work and the quality is not great as of yet.
    But soon.

If it's a lot of work then it's not AI actually doing it, AI means it does pretty much all the work for you

        This is not magic.
If you want specific results you need to do more than just click generate.
And animation needs precision to be consistent.

when we have the technology that allows AI to create new photo realistic scenes from scratch, is the day that Hollywood dies, because then anybody can make the next spider-man movie or whatever film they want by feeding an AI prompts. we're not there yet, but will be within 5-10 years.

This is a good question. Why doesn't AI make a program capable of this? Why are people still needing to do it?

All the coders got replaced, nobody around to work. AI now just sits around wiggling the mouse, so as to not seem idle.

So if I had algorithmic image generation software that reduced the amount of work it takes to make animation by 70%, you'd say that wasn't a significant advancement?

the coding end is coming along fine and will become easier and easier. it is the mass production of AI specific GPUs that is needed to bring the memetic arts into a new realm that will be, truly, the golden age of mememememes.

Each image takes an unrealistic amount of energy time and compute, so you're looking at 1000 times more buildings doing it so that a movie can come back in 7 to 30 seconds, in the same way images do.

You notice how the 5 second ai-movies that are kicking around decay to nonsense in under 3 seconds and the motion is all wrong. That's something else.

Who knows, you'll need someone to make it. And good luck since glow dot mil just put a hedge of protection around the entire thing to protect itself, to some extent, from it.

      https://i.imgur.com/zZoumzj.jpg

There is nothing they can do to prevent it short of banning the internet. They can't introduce some throttleback on GPUs because on a hardware level, the operations for generating AI images are essentially mathematical calculates identical to those performed to render a frame in video games.
The lashing out at AI is the same Luddite attitude towards any other disruptive novel technology.
Taylor Swift is a dumb b***h unaware of the Streisand effect.

I can't wait until I can make AI generated sex tapes with any woman I want. People are waiting for realistic AI sex robots but AI sex tapes will be the real end of women.

but there are already AI generated sextapes of celebs where the face is simply transplanted onto the original. also AI can make the whole video into another style like as if it was done on VHS or even upscale to 4k. I mean why generate all other things in it when the base video is already there?

Not really. Once you create the first image all you have to do is move that image. The AI doesn't have to rethink of every frame from the start.

It can do video, but it can't really do more than a few seconds without it getting weird if there's a lot going on in the scene like (perspective change, parallax and moving through the scene).

It can however, do simple 3D models (think PS2 level graphics) well enough. With bigger models (trained on enough photogrammetry data) it will be possible for you to type a prompt and it will generate Unreal Engine 5 type scenes that you can then immerse yourself in (including VR).

When we combine this with chatbots, voice cloning, it will be possible for you to type out a bunch of text and an AI will make it all. You'll put on your headset, and you'll get to see the big green hairy hands in photorealistic detail blowing in the wind in your RTX6090 as you rail Taylor Swifts peachy ass and she moans your name in ecstasy. Men are going to have some of the best nuts of their lives and women are going to be even more jealous of it than they'll ever be with sex bots. Because with the hyperreastic VR+AI experience, you can be fricking a doll/robot IRL and it can translate to what you're seeing in VR (which also means if you want to slab Tay Tays ass and call her a bad girl, you can). So yeah, women losing their shit over some computer generated pixels, they have no fricking what's coming.

Doubt it. Dall E is proprietary, you'd need to jailbreak it somehow to get it to do that, while Stable Diffusion is FOSS and have dedicated community-made AI models that are completely uncensored and unregulated.

This is going to be like the "hot coffee" mod for GTA. There are going to be morons that aren't going to be able to understand that the base has been changed by some rando and they have nothing to do with the original. Stability AI have tried to put things like "don't use this to make child abuse" into the license to protect themselves but time will tell. You can never underestimate what will happen when the stupidity of some emotional women and the law mixes.

Unfortunately the internet and the web aren't the same. In the years since that picture was doing the rounds the web has become more centralised and commericialised.

The problem is that there are generations that are coming up now that have grown up on "apps" in walled gardens (like the app store or google play). They can't even discover the old internet easy because the pozzed browser and search engines won't make it easy for them to find it, they want to steer them to commerical shit like instagram, tinder, etc.

I've noticed in the past 10 years it's become increasingly difficult to find stuff that once was easy to find. Sites are expected to die. But if there are no new sites to replace them and only corporate bullshit (the kind that is happy to censor to keep advertisers or israeli lobby groups happy) means that censorship on the web is going to be a very real thing and it will return to the legacy media (where they can decide what to cover, who to talk to and promote, etc and the undesirable views and people will be invisible to the average person).

The best thing the average person can do is do what you did with the picture, you hoard stuff on hard disks. Likewise, as many people as possible should be doing the same with these open models. Storage space is really cheap.

I believe in the internet, it was after all designed to withstand nuclear war. But the web and what's happened to it has meant that we may need to ditch https. Other protocols like bittorrent or bitcoin are more israelite proof in reaction to what israelites were doing. There should be a replacement for http that is the same.
