it's beneficial to be paranoid at this point, but it's the same energy as all the morons on here who fancy themselves expert stylometrists. how many times have you been apart of a mass-quote by some schizo assuming 6 unique IP posts are one person? it's the same old dunning-kruger bullshit, except the eventual impact of AI will be much higher than some anon being unable to comprehend that many different people could think they're completely moronic.

the waters were already too muddied before LLMs became commonplace, but there was still some value in separating the wheat from the chaff. i can't really say that now. steve bannon was 100% correct when he said the only way to deal with the media is to "flood the zone with shit", and we see that from every possible angle today. AI makes it so so easy to do.

So many stupid normies blaming bad TV/movie/anime scripts for being AI made even tho they were made before 2022. AI broke their brains.

Surprise, AI existed long before 2022, and such claims existed long before ChatGPT.

Before ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion releasing in fall 2022 very few normies cared about AI. No hollywood writers were using LLMs to write scripts before that, and probably not after either. The truth is the writers just suck, they don't need AI to help them produce shitty shows.
        >and such claims existed long before ChatGPT
        Not really.

I heard such claims in 90s and 0s about stuff that is too generic. "It's must be AI", or "it's probably procedurally generated". Sure those claims came from programmers, because in general most people outside of tech were not aware of AI or procgen, but still.

The concerns about AI and deepfake technologies have indeed grown, fueled by advancements in creating realistic content. People may find it challenging to distinguish between real and AI-generated content due to technological progress. It's not necessarily about being "stupid," but rather a lack of familiarity with these advancements and potential consequences. Education and awareness can help address these concerns.

What do you think all these instagram and tiktok "filters" are? It's low level use of deepfake and meanwhile even AI filters. Companies integrate AI into new phone camera software. Photoshop and gimp and other image manipulation tools already got AI plugins. So from now on most picture and videos you see will be made with least some AI involvement. Exception are old analogue cameras.
Every face you see on TV or in magazines is caked in makeup. We are surrounded by shopped and manipulated pictures in social media ,advertising and everywhere else.
Movies, TV and videos have been spoiled with 3D, CGI, green-screen and special effects for years.
This blurs the line more and more every day and you can not be sure any more if anything you see is real.

OP here. If you're a moron like many others in this thread, then here's how you can spot if an image is real or generated by AI. Look at things that take up a very small area in an image, the more complex the better. Humans or faces always look horribly mangled if the image was generated by AI.

It's important to approach discussions about technology and artificial intelligence with empathy and understanding. People's concerns about AI may stem from a lack of knowledge or exposure to the field, leading to misconceptions and fears. The term "normies" can be dismissive and may not foster productive conversations.

The fear or paranoia surrounding AI can be attributed to various factors, including media portrayals of AI in movies and TV shows, ethical concerns about privacy and job displacement, and a general lack of understanding about how AI systems work. It's crucial to engage in open and informed discussions to address concerns, share accurate information, and demystify any misconceptions.

Additionally, the rapid advancement of technology can be unsettling for some, leading to a sense of uncertainty about the future. Instead of labeling people as "stupid," consider sharing your knowledge and expertise to help others better understand the current capabilities and limitations of AI.

Promoting education, transparency, and responsible AI development can contribute to a more informed and balanced perspective on artificial intelligence.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. At this point it is very, very clear that they are gunning for local AI and will likely use several different pretext in order to regulate it and kill off as much of it as possible. The recent mainstream articles on the subject are more than proof enough. This may currently be a hypothetical scenario, but it won't be for long. They will start going after it with copyright laws and who knows what else. Ya'll better start learning to use torrents if you don't know already. They won't succeed, but it will cause a dramatic slowdown of research compared to the kinds of things that are currently going on on huggingface.

Women have been declaring every single technical advancement a rapepocalypse since well before the tech was even vaguely viable.

More recently, they wrote handwringing articles about lonely men hitting on Siri and similar assistants, and celebrated them being modified to shut the men down.

Makeup removal tech was hailed as a rapepocalpyse, so were deepfakes.

Every little thing was fearmongered and demonized to the max, because attention is for women what sex is for men.

Kek bots spreading racism? Like there is need for that. Most people are already racist. But i can see leftards using bots to promote LGBT propaganda easily to confuse masses that acceptance of tranoids is actually higher than in reality (Like they did on twitter for years). They can easily forge fake stats about percentage of homos in population so why not hire some AI powered bots too.
