Its not as much in the mainstream anymore which is good because it keeps normies away. Hopefully we have another couple years before the next hype cycle so normies will get the least benefit possible from it the longer they sleep the better
there are the guys on the next page who really want to fuck the computer (understandable) but other than that I think everyone is realizing the problems. maybe in a few months just like cryptoshit
You know how google used to be really useful and accurate, and then they dumbed it down year after year until it ended up being a complete ass? Somehow, in less than a year, they have already dumbed down all those AIs to that level.
Big tech is in lock down mode over AI. They won't release anything else that isn't heavily censored. Everyone else around the world who can afford to train these models is doing so. We're just in temporary lull before we see some great local models being released to the public. And the smaller models are constantly improving. Big tech took a brute force approach. Their training sets were shit and that's the only reason they have to use large models to get good results.
It is still awesome to the point it trivializes my uni homework and I can put effort into learning what actually matters
But for actual job settings? It is watered as fuck now, censorship and politics nerfed the shit out of its "intelligence"
I mostly just use copilot now as a glorified autofill, but it doesn't automatize your job completely, you still need to pay attention to what you're doing
Oh, look. The same 2 or 3 barely paraphrased talking points repeated throughout ad nauseum by a bunch of people who apparently have zero self-awareness. Real intelligence apparently doesn't exist. People are just taking the same handful of tired old snippets from their e-celeb training data and regurgitating it onto the screen.
No my boss made us start an AI guild in our company to explore options on how AI can benefit us. Gonna fuck around with training ML models on our vast telemetry data which I think will be fun. That's not groundbreaking but all the chatgpt shit made the boss hyped so it gives me opportunities for actually applying and deepening some of the stuff I studied in university.
AYE

>all no starch deep learning books still $20 over msrp
it was never ground breaking at all

It's not forgotten but thinking back on how everyone said IT'S OVER AI WILL TAKE MY JOB AAAA just a couple months ago it was crazy overblown

Why have we had so much fake technology spammed lately?
The media machine requires attention at all times. Stories must be invented.

ITT: Non-Prompt engineers seethe they can do math but not make words good.
git gud
It comes in waves. It'll be back.
That’s exactly what it was, a fad. Modern AI is just a technological fidget spinner
NO WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE, STOP USING OIL, STOP USING COMPUTERS AAAAAAAAAAA
I'M UNDER ATTACK BY AI, HOW DO I TURN MY LETTERS SMALL AAAAAAA
