Yeah you're right, OP is correct in calling it anonymous. DDG calling it private is misleading though, just be aware of what you put in there.
It can be linked back to you. If you read the privacy policy you'll see that they don't send your IP to OAI, but they do send "obfuscated personal information" (request token) to the model provider. DDG doesn't store your prompt or response, but complaints from the model providers can be linked back to your IP, and DDG can ban you or send your info to law enforcement or do whatever they want.

The gpt3.5 is a bit tame for my tastes, like they really locked that fricker down. It's useful for coming up with ridiculous prompts to put into copilot though.
