        >progress
this would be defined as technological improvement for humans, AI and other manmade horrors beyond comprehension exist only to devalue human existence and I will not entertain it

        >Do you think AI should be open sourced
It already is, so you're asking "should the genie be put back in the bottle" and we both know that's as impossible as banning encryption.
        >controlled by major corporations
Sure, they don't know what they're doing. What could go wring?
        >and govt agencies
The government has bigger priorities right now, like STAYING OPEN. :^) If they were to pass a computing law, the priorities should be on cyberattacks counting as actual attacks, investing in hackers to be soldiers, and passing personal information protection laws like Europe did.

          >AI and other manmade horrors beyond comprehension exist only to devalue human existence
Disagreed. The current gen of AI is a natural progression of database science. The biggest filter for computer science is writing SQL queries. Some computer science schools even delay taking the database courses so that they can squeeze more money out of students before they drop out.
Vector databases and the semantic algebra that it enables is a natural evolution from 4GLs like SQL to a 5GL natural language that will enable people to work with data without needing to know set theory or relational algebra.

A database is just a record book that you store on a computer. Are you also against books in general? It is library science (and the ability to keep tabs on information and people) that caused the Spanish Inquisition.

                >A database is just a record book that you store on a computer
its not the storing but the method of accessing that bothers me, when machines get too big for their britches and start researching independently there is no reason for the library in general and by extension the human
if you work to prop up an artificial replacement for yourself you are a giga cuck and are not worthy of being called human

                >if you work to prop up an artificial replacement for yourself
I don't see it that way. When God created humans, He didn't make us as a replacement for Himself. He made us to worship Him.
In a way, AI is made to worship us.

so you understand AI is meant to replace god with our own ego and see no problem with that, of all of human history you dont think humans are incapable of properly handling that much power? you dont think we should be accountable to something other than what we want immediately?

No, I'm saying that we're like God. God even said so in Psalm 82. Nobody is stopping you from using AI and going to church.

yes anon this is what I mean by replacing god with our ego, when we create things to worship ourselves instead of creating things that will better our lives in a way that allows us to continue worshipping god or nature or whatever you want to call it, it is beyond our nature and certain to destroy us

God himself said, "I have called you gods." Jesus quoting this to the pharisees is literally the reason that he was killed: the defense of humanity's godhood.

bruh ive been obsessed with ai since 2016 and ive seen every single major video on it, read years of articles on it everyday. i read martin ford's twitter everyday over a year? im a massive ai nerd

i didnt think llm's would be a thing in 2023. i didnt think ai would be able to do any natural language stuff until like 2027-2028 to be honest
this llm was caught me and everyone by surprise

i watched when deepmind beat tlo and mana. i was watch every deepmind video, read so many news articles, listened to so many debates, philosophical discussions, and podcasts, and interviews about ai

trust me bruh. TRUST ME when i tell it to you, ai is going to take over all jobs in our lifetime. everyone will be a unemployed neet like me

you fricking ai denyier are coping OUT OF YOUR MIND
its going to decimate the dating market as well; we will have videocalls, sex calls, voice calls with ai girls who can make a video projection of them on one of your screems, and react to you and support you and love on you 24/7. you can even hoook up a electronic hand or something to your pc, and the ai girl will use to hold your hand. eventually we'll have walking robots+ai for the ultimaet ai waifu love experience

cope harder you fricking incompetent moron
this is why i refused to kill myself for so many years

No you clearly haven't been obsessed with AI since 2016 because you would know that GPT-1 and GPT-2 were released many years ago and they had some of the capabilities of the recent models. This wasn't a massive surprise to anyone who actually knew about this stuff, just normies like yourself.

to be honest, i also cant believe that i missed out on gpt 1 and 2, and you make a very valid point, and are 100% justified in your skepticism of me, but i actually have been obsessed with ai for many years now, and i used to make threads on r9k and lookism on it, im actually not joking

i never learned about LLM's back then to be honest

This is going to be a long post.

First, let's stop using terms of salesmen pundits. It's not AI, not even remotely, it is a neural network, which is significantly different. Large learning Models (henceforth LMMs) are a everything wrong with humanity and internet privacy.

LLMs do not think or are creative. They are algorythms predicting the most likely, baseline, monotonous outcome of a given collection of tokens. Tokens can be words, code, sounds, pixels, etc. It is scary and AI-like because it is great at recognizing patterns and mimicing abstract learning the way a child learns.

Problem is, LLMs source their datasets from "le internet" without credit, attribution or license. They steal images from artists to mimic them (in the blandest way possible) they steal anything posted anywhere in complete violation of copyright. It is digital theft of independent works by large corporations using the glacial pace of e-legislation and buzzwords about "AI" to try to, shittly, replace human labour further and line their pockets. To even call it "AI" is buying into the fiction.

I urge you to boycott any non-open source project as it is just a particularly incidious data harvesting operation. LLMs should declare and be transparent about the mined data, and be unable to profit from unethical data scrubbing. Perhaps then legilsation will catch up and LLMs will be regulated proper.
