if you follow ai research it is mainly Chinese names even in the west
china's plan to compete is to stop brain drain. the US plan is to pay Indians enough to do their thinking for them. we'll see which plan works out better.
on the other hand the number of slutty femboys in Shanghai alone likely surpasses the entire US. they're definitely winning on that front
Everyone else in AI is playing catch up to OpenAI, so that's not the relevant metric.

Chinese universities are junk, the CCP murdered all of the "intellectuals" and burned all universities 70 years ago ant it will take hundreds of years for the Chinese culture to recover from that purge.
