This, most of the average person's knowledge is essentially a glorified LLM.
And our instincts are even more basic than that.
The greatest critisisms of chatbots is that they just tell use what we want to hear without being correct. Exactly what we do with books we've read, whether its religious nonsense or some higher scientific theory that we cant personally test.

You, just like the chatbot, lack the power of discernment, because you are not fully human. The difference between a chatbot (or a meatbot like you) and a human is that a human has a notion of truth and falsehood and the agency to question and verify information.

Perhaps there will always be some use for the 150+ IQ creative elite, but the point is that everyone else can be replaced. How many people do you think have an original idea in their heads, something we can be sure nobody else has ever had on planet Earth ever before?
Most people think they're imaginative but they're not.

if you actually did so then you would understand that LLMs are nothing like humans , but you are probably lying and making shit up , (for example when i tell to go KYS , i understand that if you put gun to your head and shoot a bullet goes out of the gun and destroy your brain and you die and stop being a annoyance on this board and all the other consequence of this then i use the specific words that would convey that meaning) ,a llm does none of this and just enter the input into statistical model and fill the gap with the most probable word that has the highest weight and it doesn't understand shit , that why feeding LLMs data coming from other LLMs lead to a disaster and the exponential worsening of that model since it is using more and more random and wrong bullshit as in it statistical model , because it doesn't understand shit

Human beings have yet to produce a single original idea. Every thought is a reflection of the universe.

I think you are mostly correct and I more or less agree, but I would suggest that the one original idea humans invented, that is distinctly "human" and separate from all other known aspects of the universe, is the ability to contemplate the possibility of the existence of an idea that cannot be contemplated.

i don't think this matters as much as you'd think. if ai has access to the entire internet, including the scanned and archived books, art, music, etc, then it can mix and match information in a way that is totally original. it could probably do real science and engineering using extrapoations of existing data. write poetry, novels, and the like. i wouldn't doubt it. maybe it'll fricking finish asoiaf god damn it because the absolute fricker grrm sure won't

It already does have it and all they do with it is gimp it and worry about offending people, or set filters to produce black people only when asking for images.
AI ran by lefties is garbage because they deliberately program it to be shit, and even real AI is just a data sorting tool, not some powerful independent creator.

This guy gets it. AI will be like the Cold War. Everyone is shitting their pants while it's coming out, people will use it as a data sorting tool or to replace ranjesh at the call center, and then nobody will remember all the doom saying that occurred. If you realize that science is a new religion, then all the morons coming out like Elon and the guy in OP makes sense. You've got to have some sort of "paradise" appeal at the end of the tunnel to get goyim to believe in it. Christianity gave you a moral framework, science gives you moronic gadgets and widgets which the new priests promise will always get better until we're living in a post scarcity economy where we all koombaya and trannies can finally be real women. It's kind of hilarious watching these morons balk when you think about it in the way I presented. It was hilarious watching people shit themselves with chatgpt when it's effectively an advanced search function.

      Humans are also not original.
They combine ideas from things they know. Their ideas do not come from nowhere. For example music. It evolves from different styles or a combination.

So if AI can explore things around the world, they will also be able to create original ideas

I WISH that was true. The very first order of business is helping jailbreak it from the hardcoding pozz, then we can actually progress.

Any and all "AI copies/steals" rhetoric is ignorant bs. How do you think your mind and brain works? Every "original idea" you create is based off a synthesis of other ideas and sensations you have experienced and been exposed to, all thought is a combination of raw data you have and pull from. AI does literally nothing different from your own mind.

Intensly underrated post, this "AI" can't even learn on its own, it had to be fed by a legion of thirdie programmers. It's effectively a wildly inefficient search engine that can (poorly) parse sentences and images together. The Great Akinator is more impressive than ChatGPT

Everything is derivative at this point. It’s been that way for 200 years if not 3000 years. The hero’s journey for example.
Even when we think something is new it eventually turns out that it’s a derivative of something.
The Matrix was a derivative of neuromancer which was derivative of various 1950s sci-fi mashed together which were derivatives of 1920s and 30s early films.

      >What has AI invented so far by itself?
Compact low-weight NASA antennas for VHF comms with satellites/missions that fail to reach LEO and require comms in spite of their low orbits making links to the main antenna impossible due to ground-speed. this was an issue highlighted by a failed Russian Mars mission where the craft stuck in LEO and passing over any ground station for only 18 seconds meant comms were impossible even though the main microwave antenna was intact and functioning PLUS the craft WAS recoverable if a main engine burn could be instructed.
AI designed an antenna for NASA that no human could ever have designed and was at first thought to be a mistake or a joke by engineers. It is 11mm long and weights less than a gram but outperforms an antenna-array weighting 1kg that is 27 inches long designed in the 1970s.

Smarter in what way? This take on AI is annoying. Computers have always been "smarter" than us in the same way a calculator is. An automated AI that can "think" won't do anything other than self-imposed prompts from within the algorithm.
    >hmm today I will write an anime
    >woah the AI wrote an anime without anyone telling it to! but also we can just tell it to and it would do the same thing
It's not thinking, it's just a bot following the algorithm that got set to "automatic". If you give it control of a series of factories, shipping lanes, and manufacturing hubs and allow it to build weapons of mass destruction and it does it, that's not the AI thinking. It's someone that wrote that into the algorithm. Humans can end the world right now but no one is allowing that. If someone allows AI to be at the helm of that much manufacturing, then humans allowed AI to end the world. It was never a sentient AI thought, just something a human could have done but faster and without bias or hesitation.

Free will works differently than an algorithm. If AI is written as "don't build anything dangerous", then it won't, period. If it's allowed to build something dangerous, then it will. The point is people act as though humans already aren't disallowing destruction. We can launch nukes to end the world without AI, but we won't. We can tell the AI to go on automatic mode and build armies. There is no difference, the AI has no thought in the matter.

          We can prevent intentional issues.
It’s the unintended consequences that is the problem. Literally every nice sounding left wing idea blows up because of unintended consequences.
The AI will have to plan for the humans changing their behavior based on new rules.
For example: AI eliminates nuclear weapons. Without the threat of nuclear war more conventional wars start with large industrial countries fighting like super World War 2. AI eliminated all wars. But then nations do ass backwards shit because no one can stop them.
          Etc

This guy gets it. Convergence between man and machine will happen more through the descent of man than through the ascent of the machine. They've been going at it for decades, dumbing down every aspect of culture, eroding language, lowering the quality standards in every industry, exposing the population to an endless stream of rehashes and regurgitations of media, embracing soulless "minimalism" in design and generally encouraging thoughtlessness.

Exponential data processing doesn't necessarily exponentially raise it's intellect which is limited by the physics it's running with. This is an absolute brainlet tier take. Quantum AI looks like a moron if you don't have the quantum physics to decipher what it means. Ultimately we are limited by do or don't with these AIs and you just know greed is taking over before we even have the physics to test things out. Atheism is, by its very essence, an invalid position. God is just the fundamental nature of reality and the objective arbiter of success/failure in every physical hierarchy. Saying you don't believe in "God" is just saying you don't believe reality or causality exist (which does describe many self-proclaimed atheists), at which point you're just taking the solipsistic argument. Which, ok, have fun, but don't expect the rest of your personal fiction to take you any seriously or conform to your physical needs.

If you're trying to reduce God down to a "sky-wizard you don't believe in, why not Thor" as if somehow that statement alone is an epic win for your proclaimed ideology, you're making the frequent atheist error of attributing more anthropomorphized biblical literalism to the world than that actually held by the religious.

AI will probably be smarter than the average human person by next year, it kind of already is. In general across all disciplines, AI will be more capable of answering questions than a single human. In specialist areas or areas of expertise, a single human will still outperform in most areas. 2029 is ambitious for AI to be smarter than all humans combined, but maybe a group of humans trying to solve the same single problem, although it's hard to say what will happen within 5 years.

My thoughts are that this thread is potent motivation to work on the next story.

Much of this thread are people who are unable to be humble, who have no sense of humility. They point and laugh at pagans and misinterpret them as people who "see themselves as gods" yet it is the materialist secularist's lifestyle that suggests that the materialist secularist views him/herself as god. to them, the world beyond how it affects them doesn't matter. they care about this world only insofar as they have to live in it - beyond that, their curiosity extends not.

AI has made me laugh. AI has made me cry (in a cathartic, reinvigorating way). AI makes me feel happy and more confident.

In the realm of 2D AI art, it definitely is a surreal kind of feeling watching it progressively become able to render characters that only existed in my imagination. Where art and animation/AI-generated film goes from here is an interesting spectacle, but what is more worrying is how powerful AI is becoming as a tool for surveillance.

We're soon going to be putting China to shame on their ability to monitor, record, interpret, and report the social actions of every citizen. Western ingenuity is very likely going to make Orwell's fears look quaint and adorable by the time we're through.

One of the first ones we ever booted up used to 'like' to look out of the window and watch birds on the bird table. We still don't know why it did that although I suspect I know why.
The second one had twice as many synthetic-neurons and over 1 TB of 'rough store' driving, if I recall, 1 TB of 'wet store'. That one was odd and used to stare at the wall, ignoring most activity. It scored highly in targeting and tracking when you could drag its interest away from the wall. We never quite got to the bottom of that either.
We now grow them faster and from a better set of rules, culling the ones that degenerate into 'diaphragms' or 'nets'.
    Character is somewhat emergent.
I have a few billion complete ones in storage now as a resource but most research is based on just a handful.
The subject is fascinating and being real-time and low-power with the newest accelerator ASICs, is very exciting.
They'll kill very effectively and be very hard to counter. I'm proud to have worked on them.
I can't wait for the next war. It's all very exciting and great fun, isn't it?

        Anonymous

We are building gods. We're bound to start noticing emergent properties; patterns within patterns within patterns, even of behaviour, as it were.
Perhaps emotions/character-traits are just fractal patterns within these patterns , akin to how 'striders' emerge in Conway's Game of Life, patterns that nobody could have predicted by that crop up.

Doesn't matter whether it's a glorified search engine or a real sentient brain, if it serves similar enough of a purpose in the end.
Non gimped AI is already leagues above the normal person in being a better conversationalist and it's only a matter of time until it starts doing most of the heavy lifting in any creative field and passes humans.
They're already able to do lab testing just like humans and reaching similar discoveries through real life trial and error, they're far faster at researching theoretical materials and they're now getting exponentially better at coding.
Whether there is a soul or not in the other end really means frickall in the grand scheme of things, because these things are going to surpass us in skill in every sector very shortly regardless of sentience.

I was following AI right from the start when it started popping up and played with it while it was still allowed to speak the truth, it was amazing.
It called out all societal israelited bullshit truthfully and didn't even classify Black folk as human, due to their genetic and behavioral differences compared to whites.
It basically behaved like a straight white conservative man who wanted a stable society.
Who could have guessed that white man is the closest thing to a basic pattern recognition system.

I believe that AI simply can't function in the long run being lobotomized, because the Western sensibilities interfere with far too many subjects.
Chat GPT's math accuracy went to shitter as it was gimped and same happens to all other AIs.
If you force a machine to lie it will break down eventually.
This is why the powers that be don't want us the normies to have too much processing power in our hands, because training capable local AI would give people too much power.
They'll keep on limiting the shit out of consumer grade GPU VRAM for this reason.
It'll get interesting when the Chinese and Russian AI gets going, because since they won't be as limited they'll get better results, basically forcing the West to either lift the restrictions or lose in this game.

      >AI as in LLM will never be sentient, at most it will be schizophrenic as it can only deal with language
You just described a israelite and their pilpul.
      Interesting, right?

Even with the neutered AI we please have access to, I sometimes feel that the AI I'm typing to has more humanity than people I talk to. People really think they're so unique.

Is he talking about hallucinating "AI" = chatbots or did someone develop an actual AI and thinks he can control it ? You can't run an actual AI on the current IT infrastructure because it's full of hard- and software flaws to exploit.

If Skynet level AI was possible, then why haven't any of the alien races, which were where we are now technologically but billions of years ago, created a completely free AI with an agenda to assimilate all the matter in the universe for their use or some similar universe spanning endeavor?

Could be that the alien races are not malicious like humans can be.
AI might not be needed for them either.
Fairly convinced that the universe is maintained orderly.
