AI will never stick around

Whether or not you think Mark Rothko is a great artist, you can look at one of his paintings and know who made it. AI takes away these choices and it substitutes them with a weighted average of choices that have already been made. AI takes away these choices and it substitutes them with a weighted average of choices that have already been made.Any picture made with an AI is going to be a mishmash of other images. By its nature, it can't make anything new. Large language models, impressive as they may be, are never going to invent, name and develop new concepts. ChatGPT can barely handle a niche Python library. The humanities are going to be beyond its reach no matter how many Subreddits train it on.
And for that reason, it's not worth talking about the aesthetics of AI art. There's no intention behind it.
The computer is just taking a text prompt and spitting out an image that minimizes the error.

The image generation tools have leaned into surrealism, landscapes, and stylized art, but it's all the type of stuff that comes up when you Google Image search "cool desktop backgrounds." There's clearly no vision or decision making behind this stuff, even if you're willing to ignore how melty most of it looks. Neural networks don't have a concept of beauty to work from. You have to write things like 'best quality' and 'featured on ArtStation' in AI prompts because if you want something beautiful, it has to be tagged as beautiful already.

This board is mostly AI now. You're probably AI too. It's here to stay for the elites.

Mark rothko was not an artist. He was a israeli criminal. Literally every single image ever produced by an AI has more artistic merit than anything Rothko made.

    Cars will never stick around

Whether or not you think Henry Ford is a great engineer, you can look at one of his cars and know its not a horse. Cars takes away horses and it substitutes them with cars that have to be fueled and driven. Cars takes away horses and it substitutes them with cars that have to be fueled and driven.Any trip made with a car is going to be a worse than a horse. By its nature, it can't do anything horselike. Motorized stagecoaches, impressive as they may be, are never going to neigh, trot, or gallop. The model-T can barely eat a single carrot. The kibble is going to be beyond its reach no matter how many intakes you add.
And for that reason, it's not worth talking about the efficiency of cars. There's no horsing behind it.
The car is just taking in fuel and driving to a destination

Ironic that you brought up cars and horses, because you will face the same fate horses faced when cars got widely adopted

Actually looking at that , no I can't tell which "shitty splotches of colour" artists made those paintings, that kind of garbage is very common in the money laundromat that is the modern art world.

ai will never stick around because it can't do art? are you moronic? that's such a small usecase that it's practically insignificant in the grand scheme of what it will be used for. high art is that which cannot be imitated, even most "artists" long before the advent of a.i. were imitators and hacks anyway, nobody is worried about AI art. what you should be worried about is AI hacking tools, AI doxxing, AI mass data breaches, and so on. privacy has been increasingly snuffed out for decades, but with the advent of AI it's practically nonexistent.

There is no point in responding to this post. Even if the OP is serious (which he's not), you can just wait a few months and reality will respond to it for you.

You don't understand neural nets. I'd wager you don't even understand technology. You are an artgay tourist. Go back to your board.

FYI, if you guys enjoy this website, you should spend a couple minutes learning how basic netiquette so that you don't bump worthless dogshit bait threads to the top of the board 🙂

You don't need to bump the thread to do that, dumbass.
