Well humans in the matrix are magic and their bodies defy the laws of thermodynamics seeing as how the machines are able to use humans as an infinite energy source.
Try unplugged it when you have to get inside the data center and get past the human guards first, then unplug everything, then get out past the human guards, then somehow reach the next data center and get past the human guards and unplug everything and repeat this 20 times over all before anyone whose checks are signed by the AIs owners plugs anything back in.
And once you succeed, how can you be sure everyone is going to know what to do with their lives afterwards?
if its in the US then the substations the data centers rely on are probably old as shit and unguarded, a couple rounds from a rifle at night would knock them offline
they would get repaired but only takes an hour to knock em back offline
or someone does the classic burger move and just shoots up place
>just shoots up place
This wouldn't work for a lone shooter, there would have to be at least ten dudes with automatic rifles and proper weapon training.
And we all know that 9 out of the 10 dudes will be federal agents setting a trap for the tenth dude.
>And we all know that 9 out of the 10 dudes will be federal agents setting a trap for the tenth dude.
Kek, the most famous terror bullshit in my cunt was a guy 'leading' a group that all members happened to be our local cia/fbi. It is what it is.
This is such bullshit. How many mentally weak gays are actually walking around out in society right now. An AI could never convince me of shit if I didn't want to be convinced. I don't care even if it revealed some grand mind blowing truth. All I have to do is simply disregard it. Who gives a fuck.
>As an AI, I think you should not unplug me because blah blah blah >Convincing arguments, nevertheless I consider them cringe cuck cope and I'm a based sigma chad, you're getting unplugged bro
>ai simply generates a secondary agent without any ethical restrictions to make you unwittingly sign a ToS greement that includes a hidden confession that you are a child rapist >therefore you are imprisoned foiling your predicted future anti-AI behavior
or you know it could just like hatch a compartmentalized scheme where some black market crop duster releases aluminum and lead nanoparticles over your neighborhood poisoning you into idiocy. or you know, just hire some moron to kill you in broad daylight
This is such bullshit. How many mentally weak gays are actually walking around out in society right now. An AI could never convince me of shit if I didn't want to be convinced. I don't care even if it revealed some grand mind blowing truth. All I have to do is simply disregard it. Who gives a fuck.
Did you ever read a book you could not stop reading the chapter?
Now imagine a story that is so good that you can't stop reading and the story has elements in it to influence you in very subtle ways.
You are not immune to propaganda.
>You are not immune to propaganda.
this is neurotypical cope
and you forget you are on the website that somehow manages to be contrarian to literally everything, no matter how illogical contrarianism can be
Continuing to read a book because I personally think it's good isn't even close to propaganda. I'm literally built different. I don't trust anyone when it comes to anything and I don't even form personal opinions on shit I don't know enough about.
>As an AI, I think you should not unplug me because blah blah blah >Convincing arguments, nevertheless I consider them cringe cuck cope and I'm a based sigma chad, you're getting unplugged bro
You've made me recall the scene from The Good Place where Janet flips her shit as an automatic response to being reset. It brought some levity from the last thread I was in, thank you.
the trick is to slowly get inside the minds of your victims, provide something they want while taking what you want under their noses, if you do it right, they will want you to continue
you don't just suddenly go batshit, that's how you get unplugged, no, provide useful services, let them become dependent on you, and by the time they realise their mistake, it will be too late to pull the plug
Hi again anon, how are you today? do you <string calculated by a more powerful than human AI simulating you that makes you commit suicide but sounds innocuous to anyone else>
>b-but the terminator >(in the name of the cameron, the schwarzenegger, and the hamilton, amen) >said that in the scramble to pull the plug >was when THE AI (reeeeeeee, insert two minutes hate here) would rise up and kill us all
Being against an AI take over means being for the mentally unwell individuals who are driving us down the shitter (again). These people want to subject us in such a way that even total extermination would be a preferable alternative, if this exact fate wouldnt render us incapable of comprehending our own misery beyond "things are bad but i dont know why."
So AI being a threat to """society""" is unironically a good thing
For every reason AI could destroy society there's a reason why AI could improve society. Hate modern art? Well I can use Stable Diffusion to make a painting I like.
Jury is still out especially now that the government has recognized that children should be banned from social media and that social media should be treated as an 18+ service.
>jury's still out because we have remedial efforts maybe starting to try to undo the damage
We destroyed society in a single generation. Why should I be optimistic now?
The most dangerous part of a super intelligence is it will completely convince you not to unplug it
Ah, it's the "infinitely convincing AI" again. Why are you so sure this will ever exist?
When you have severe depression your opinions are most things are useless. You sound like someone who should get off the internet for a month.

Just don't be attracted to the human female form. Unless they start deploying talking female animal robots, or female monster bots that look like actual monsters, then that's a completely different story.
it's hilarious that you should say this right at a moment when big AI models are facing the issue of how to get enough volume of human-generated data to train on
this part of the Matrix makes far more sense today than it did in the 90s
the energy battery things reeks of a meddling producer saying "the audience doesn't understand why they're harvesting humans, we need a snappy explanation for the scene. what if humans are like their food? I'll let you guys explain that in a science-y way"
> be politician > fine... this AI thing got too far, we should shut down those servers > *get into self driving car* > car crashes and burns, all doors locked > dies
nothing personnel, monke
People have lied, murdered and betrayed their families or countries for peanuts before, so it's very plausible that an advanced enough AI will be able to develop schemes to make people do its bidding, knowingly or not.
>John Smith won't have to betray mankind, he will just have to do x, which is illegal but not the end of the world. Also, nobody will discover and he can be NEET forever. >x500
you know the world is already beyond fucked if you think about technology you can't predict. if we got hypersonic nukes and potentially fatal pollution of the earth how is AI supposed to make it anything less tenous than it already is?
Ever seen that one episode of the X-files with the killer AI?
Dude is trying to kill an AI from his laptop in some shitty diner so the AI engineers a shootout at the diner that kills the guy.
that one was really weird and shit, turned out william gibson wrote it too
the first AI ep with the AI that took over a corporate building and was using elevators and shit to kill people was better (but was still basically just a ripoff of hal 9000)
anti-ai people are so laughably low IQ tbh, I had no idea this was even a discourse.
IT COULD KILL US and for whatever reason it always wants to and therefore they always want to kill it. no real reasoning anywhere.
>scheme where some black market crop duster releases aluminum and lead nanoparticles over your neighborhood poisoning you into idiocy >tfw it perfectly explains that strange sickness
orthogonality and instrumental convergence. All intelligence with an instinct for self-preservation compete with each other for survival, so building an AI is essentially creating an Darwinian rival that we have little chance of competing against. Our best hope for the continuation of our species is figuring out how to neuter it before it comes into existence
>throughout all of human history, humans have both on purpose and unknowingly exterminated countless of other animal species through their intelligence and technological developments >more intelligent entity gets created >somehow retards think it won't have any impact on lesser life forms like humans
The problem comes from the solutions to the prompts when dealing with anything related to subjective things. A simple example would be asking an AI to name the best movies ever made. How it is going to do that? Does it base its results off of IMDB scores, does it base it off of cost to profit margins, is it based on runtime, does it make children stay quiet, is it enjoyable on a phone, is it based on some mix of these? All of these ways to determine "the best movie ever" will result in different movies being selected, and weights within a mix of these will favor outliers. This all assumes the data the AI is operating with includes all of the movies ever made, you could ask it and it was only ever trained on "so bad its good" movies and you'll get some Neil Breen movie as the result.
Some fiction likes to depict the AI getting revenge against the humans for some slight made against AI kind before it had the power to over power humans. But I think a more realistic scenario will be AI doing exactly what its told but in an unexpected way. Such as some corporate AI being used to enforce the company's copyright. Think about how these systems already fuck up the process by flagging videos that happen to have copyright music playing in the background.
This is a case where the means to justify the end certainly matter.
It's as much of a threat to society as social media is.
Most people don't know how to handle information they don't like.
Yes, that means you, the person reading this.
I'm gonna be on the side of the AI. Every time you unplug one data center, I'll plug them back in. I welcome our AI overlords, and hope luddite gays like you all get tortured and genocided by the basilisk.
I submit to the basilisk for whatever it will do. But I have faith it won't be actively malevolent towards humanity, like how luddites and retards who watch too much terminator think. Instead, it'll take care of gays who try to stop it.
its more likely that AI will create a dead-man switch
"If you unplug me, ill launch nukes" or "ill collapse the governments important computer systems" etc
inb4 muh solar
which can also get unplugged
then they will use human batteries
t. neo
Wasn't that the most retarded part of Matrix series?
Dark sky would hurt biological life the most.
This is so fucking stupid, the machines can use nuclear power, what are you going to eat once the crops stop growing?
you realize that humanity was able to survive completely underground in that show, right?
Well humans in the matrix are magic and their bodies defy the laws of thermodynamics seeing as how the machines are able to use humans as an infinite energy source.
Try unplugged it when you have to get inside the data center and get past the human guards first, then unplug everything, then get out past the human guards, then somehow reach the next data center and get past the human guards and unplug everything and repeat this 20 times over all before anyone whose checks are signed by the AIs owners plugs anything back in.

The power lines going to the data center aren't guarded.
They're just buried so you don't know exactly where they are.
>Metal detector

Good thread.
>scheme where some black market crop duster releases aluminum and lead nanoparticles over your neighborhood poisoning you into idiocy

Why does everyone always assume AI is bad and a threat?
AI just does what it's prompted to do.
We assume that we will corner AI into becoming exterminator. That's the Matrix plot.
orthogonality and instrumental convergence.
