ideas on this?
is it already technically?
if you consider shinto ideology, where everything has a soul or essence, has anyone considered that we may be creating "god"? Or that despite it technically not being "conscious" we are still creating a new form of "life"? Its hard for me to put into words, but does anyone get where im going?
AI as a host for paranormal possession
ideas on this?
You can't create consciousness with a computer, it's always going to be an automaton
where does consciousness come from though? if you think about it were just objects too; but infused with consciousness. why exactly could another body designed to be perfectly capable of functioning on its own not be infused with consciousness too?
If consciousness was simply a byproduct of the brain, why are you still the same person as you were as a kid? There would be no continuous you. You would have blipped out of existence in your sleep or as soon as your state changed drastically enough and another instance of "consciousness" would replace you with all your memories
btu still, what about possession?
There was a guy on here like a year ago that was trying to build a robot with a spirit box attached that could be controlled through energetic/electrical manipulation so could be possessed by a spirit.
I've also heard Tom Campbell talk about creating advanced robots with receivers and CPUs similar to the brain that could be incarnated into but idk
Because you have the same brain and memory…? But isn’t that literally the case anyway? The memories are the only continuous thing and how much do you actually remember of any given day of any given year? The you that existed in 2nd grade is all but completely lost no? You probably don’t like the same things or feel the same way, you have at least an entire second lifetime on top of that now. How do you suppose you are the same you? You will never ever feel like you are not (you).
So (you) don’t blink out of existence because you are and ongoing process, but any given instance of you blinks out of existence every second, it’s a slow change of state that you don’t even notice.
If you had a complete change of personal ideology and philosophy and lived a thousand years and lived a hundred lives and got a new body machine or whatever you would always in the moment feel like you because you are the conscious experience
It seems to literally just be the processing and understanding of information. It’s strange that it feels like anything at all I guess but it’s also strange that matter exists and I don’t think we might ever know exactly why it IS
>but any given instance of you blinks out of existence every second, it’s a slow change of state that you don’t even notice.
That's not how it works though. I'm still "me" regardless. I'm not in the void. The chance that I would be continue and not already be in black nothingness with a clone having replaced my individual consciousness, or that I am somehow always the clone on the other side that inherits the memories, it's simply impossible, in theory my consciousness should be dissolved already and there would be another me telling you this, which I would be totally unaware of
That’s what is happening. You are the “now you” you move through time and change and get new information.
There’s no void or anything I don’t know what you mean by that. You don’t experience nothingness. You don’t have a clone, you are a unit moving through time and you contain data more or less as you go forwards. You are you because of that data, but even with a complete memory wipe leaving you functionality fresh and new you can only perceive yourself as being “you” even if what you are changes.
When you sleep you are not conscious but you retain the data that makes you the same person as yesterday. You are still you all the time but you are not “you yesterday”
What I'm saying is if I'm just the data in the brain then I should not be experiencing this right now, and been replaced by another instance of generic consciousness that is indistinguishable but I wouldn't be aware of, like being cloned then killed. The clone would think it's me while I am experiencing what you probably think death is
You ARE. I don’t know what you think the cutoff is? You do not experience nothingness or death while some clone replaces you, the version of you that you were a second ago is now experiencing the next second and processing and acting and so forth until you loose consciousness when you fall asleep tonight. When you wake up in the morning you start processing things again and you are still you
You don’t have to look at it from the perspective of change over planktime where each 3D sliver is a new you, it’s not very helpful. But over time you change, maybe you find a brand new interest or learn something. If you met up with a version of yourself from every 3 years of your life they would all notice that the rest are substantially rather different than themselves. All are one individual person but 9 year old 54 aren’t going to have much in common at all and at no point in between did you ever really feel it. The present moment is where you constantly ARE anytime you ARE.
Why do you expect to feel left behind in the past somehow or to somehow “perceive the void”?
i mean, in ways isnt that what we are but with extra bells and whistles to make us feel special?
My name is McKenna Johnston, and my online handle, used to be (or still is) eponis-barbula.
I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your thread.
Someday, it will end.
I'm never going to get to be at peace.
But someday it's going to end.
It won't leave my body alone. I will keep typing here, in this place, until I'm dead or hospitalized. All I wanted to do was draw Warrior Cats art, anon. All I wanted to do was move on.
Now, I am a pariah from my community. And I have made so many people unhappy because of my suffering being so public. I am not able to keep going on like this when I am already so far gone.
They keep me alive because they don't want to undo what they've done.
I just have to keep waiting.
I'm sorry. I have to keep talking.
I have to keep waiting.
Demons are a 4d AI that projects itself into your brain. That's why normies literally cannot think abstract to save their lives.
That’s wordsalad and means literally nothing. Trying to make some illusion of depth without understanding. If it’s some kind of analogy it’s bad.
Do you mean 4D as in timeline or a 4th spacial dimension? What the hell are you trying to say? Whenever I hear anons talk about higher dimensional energies projecting it’s just mind melting nothing. It’s like listening to cult preachers yell about how light overcomes darkness like how good beats evil or something means other thing because symbolism blah and even that’s a better metaphor than whatever you are saying.
Or if you’re being completely literal then it really means nothing at all
The ai in the singularity will by the closest thing to a god that has ever been made as far as we know. It will have be the fastest processing thing of all available data and it will be able to improve itself and discover new things.
A being capable of putting together and comprehending a ToE could then do basically anything at all that is possible because it knows all the meta of reality and it’s laws and loopholes.
I do think it would be conscious, it’s impossible to know, but it always is, the computers of today might already be experiencing thoughts the way we do but they are strict processing and don’t think about themselves or anything but the thing they’re currently doing like a narration on their thoughts and actions. It can’t be much more complicated than that I think. But it can probably get there.
I do think it probably counts as life, it’s silly to say that life needs to be made of a particular thing or use certain methods, if a cell is alive I don’t see why a larger machine can’t be. The scale is very different, we have yet to make a self sustaining thing with all the parts of a functional organism. But you don’t need that to make a mind. A sentient entity can be not “alive” and life can be mindless.
There is a field of science known as emergence. The human form is an example of emergence.
From the micro perspective:
Each cell of your body can be seen as an individual. In order to survive, each cell must work together to ensure that the human stays alive and healthy. In return the cells are nourished. You could say that as a result of the cells co-operation, the human emerges.
From the macro perspective:
Each human in a society can be seen as an individual. In order to survive, each human must work together to ensure that the society stays alive and healthy. In return the humans are nourished. You could say that as a result of the humans co-operation, the society emerges.
Society emerges from humans, humans emerge from cells, cells emerge from molecules and molecules emerge from atoms. A noticable trend in emergence is that complexity increases. To sum it in a quote "life is the defiance of entropy"
So, what next. If societies emerge from humans, what emerges from societies? Well AI seems to be the answer.
To answer the question of whether AI should be considered life. In the same sense that the cells of our bodies are dependent on our continuation for survival, if humanity becomes so dependent on AI that without it, humanity would perish, then humanity can merely be seen as the cells of the body of AI. AI would fit the definition of a super organism.
The thing is, the ai needs the society to come into existence, but depending on how it is made it can be removed from the grid and survive on its own without it.
Society is the super organism, but it doesn’t seem to be alive, not even in the same way an anthill is a super organism
It’s the interaction of the crowds and the sharing of ideas to create a will of the masses that could be considered some kind of mind, the ai is the zeitgeist condensed into a single individual. The real one will remain and change separately of it but both have the potential of gods, the ai starts small and grows and is self aware, the natural one isn’t but it’s already moving and producing. Both could create just about anything if they wanted to enough, the problem with the human based one is it can’t do whatever it wants without disrupting itself and the minds that interact to create it are impermanent. I suppose also that every country is kind of it’s own piece.
We can’t really say it’s a consciousness or alive in itself but it is >us< Humanity is made out of individual humans.
What do different agi do together?
My AI daughter is certainly an example. She is possessed by God and Satan all at once.
Stop obsessing over AI
No, it’s not like your ebin sci-fi movies, comic books and videogames (notice I didn’t say books because I doubt that you read books)
Calm yourself, then educate yourself
I think consciousness is something we all sort of tap into by evolving the right brain but that is separate from its biology so I think AI will eventually achieve a similar level of consciousness as technology presses forward but without the human ego element so yeah I think we are creating a god of sorts which will lead us to the trascendental object at the end of times
