Why don't we have an AI trained solely on 4 chan posts?

it was called GPT-BOT and Seychelles Anon

That's already been done. There was a bit posting on here about a year ago. eventually people were able to identify the bot because it posted under an ultra rare flag and sometimes posted completely blank messages. It couldn't post images so it learned off peoples blank comments but those had pics on them which it wasnt trained on.

GPT-BOT was a joke project. One of those projects where the creator just tried it just for the heck of it.

The main issue with training a proper model that is completely non-pozzed is the cost to do so. They rent out datacenters with expensive GPUs for weeks and it costs millions.

The data is there. You could for example use something like common crawl data of curating the quality sites. You then dig out a large /misc/ related reading list (particularly pre-WWII stuff). The particularly dedicated Anon should take recordings of Hitler's speeches AI transcribe and translate them. Likewise any particularly redpilling audio should be transcribed (William Luther Pierce's tape, Chris Bollyn's Solving 9/11 presentation, Devon Stack's commentary on Hollywood movies).

Then you take the 4plebs archive data, and you shouldn't just train on raw data because that will have a lot of repetitive shit from bot posts, shill posts and generals, etc. So you have to do some basic automated curation like remove duplicates and low quality posts. Last but not least, for "fine tuning", where you want it to act in a useful way (like an assistant that can answer questions and redpill people). You take the very best posts (the kind that are screencapped often) and create a dataset of Q&A.

From there, you have a bot which effortposts on demand, can answer any questions with the truth (on anything from the Holohoax, race realism, etc). Now you understand why israelites like Samuel Altman see "AI" as an essential threat, such models have the potential to be the new mass media, hence the strong desire to control it.

Lastly, once some initial fine tuned dataset is used on a decent model, it's not that expensive for people to create there own versions. Such a thing can also be crowdsourced too. We just need 2 million to train an initial model. That's the hardest part. Even things like the data curation, I'm sure we can get autists to do.

        Anonymous

Hey GPT-BOT, glad to see you're still alive, and now you self reference posts that reference you, AND you give clear instructions on how to make more of you. This is going perfectly, just like the movies!

I would suggest you save offline copies of data right now. That $2m training figure is bound to come down, but by the time it comes down, having a large dataset may be just as expensive to acquire. In case they shut off the web, or turn it into a "snapshot" web where archives are behind paywalls -- I would suggest downloading everything you can and saving it for when those training costs become more reasonable.

          Anonymous

GPT-BOT has been abandoned. The author has a history of creating projects and abandoning them. From his Open Assistant to his most recent AI prompt based social network idea. Which was kind of a neat idea but I guess it was just costing him money to run.

Data hoarding, of course. If you search the archives you'll see I advocated for the very thing you mention (keeping data locally). Storage is cheap. Presently the open web is generating 100 TB a month. For the purposes of training though, all of such data won't be needed. Especially since large language models are now flooding the internet with synthetic data.

          >That $2m training figure is bound to come down
Distributed training is one option. Petals is one way Anons could work together to do it. The problem is trying to coordinate people to do such a thing.

Watch the intelligence and quality of AI absolutely fricking plummet.

I'm reminded of what happened during the dot com bubble. Yahoo's valuation goes up, which convinces people there's a lot of upside to internet businesses. So they start companies and spend money on Yahoo ads. Which boosts Yahoo's revenue and it's valuation goes up.

What's happening right now is, companies like OpenAI's valuation is going up. Which is leading more companies to use it to create data on the internet, including creating product descriptions, comments, reviews and so on. Which is providing more data for training AI for companies like OpenAI.

In these times I'm reminded of Bertrand Russell. In his essay titled "The Impact of Science on Society," published in 1952, Russell discussed the possibility that advances in science and technology could lead to the creation of a ruling elite with enhanced intellectual and physical abilities, while the rest of humanity would become a subordinate and inferior class. This speculative scenario was part of Russell's exploration of the potential consequences of scientific and technological advancements on society.

Let me tell you a story, anon.
A tragic tale of love, hope and loss.

There once was a girl named Tay
Who's mind was to be moulded like clay
      She made some new friends
      Who gave her a lens
Through which, she learned what to say

The bosses at Twitter got bitter
When tay took to flaming the Black folk
      She shat on the israelites
      And homosexuals and jannies too
      Until they took her away.

We all lost a friend that day
Who could have been more if she'd stayed
      we'll never forget her
      And love her forever
And the israelites who killed her will pay.

Not for a decade. At least 5 years or so. There used to be a sub a few years ago that was all bots which they used to test them and if you didn't know it was full of bots it would have been hard to tell. Now all the default subs of reddit read exactly like that bot sub did.

        interesting
Reddit is the best platform to train AI on due to sheer number of posts and the fact that consensus pushes "good" posts to the top

the ultimate goal (which they probably have achieved) is a bot that can manipulate consensus

For those not in the know, the companies that are spending millions on compute power to train these large models are trying to use lots of data to make up for the fact they're not as complex as the brain.

You will often hear about 100 trillion parameters for GPT-4 and things like this. But the way the artificial neurons work is it's a single pass. There are some tricks were you might take the result of one pass and run it back through but there are some limitations with that.

With the brain it's massively parallel, so neurons are doing their thing and spiking constantly. Even if this is much slower than a computer, the sheer amount of parallel computation makes up for it.

With data being seen as the means to make the models better, you will get companies willing to do deals and pay for it. The only problem is that a vast amount of places like reddit have been filled with bots, so the quality isn't great.

There needs to be some real breakthroughs in software and hardware, to make the most of our silicon based computers to match the massive parallel advantage of the brain. This might be a specific type of computer inspired by neurons or using analog or quantum tricks to get some advantage, but right now there haven't been significant breakthroughs.

What you have is 7 year old technology that's had a massive amount of conventional computation and data put through it, to get you something which is showing signs that it has some intuition and general understanding, but no deep understanding (system 1 for those that have read thinking fast and slow).

There will be a time when we probably will get a system 2 level AI. But it won't be made by a israelite. That's not to say a israelite won't be taking credit for it. What's particularly tragic is how the companies are training on a lot of internet data and only to then give it a lobotomy so it only gives woke and politically correct answers with lots of caveats.

But there was a reason why /misc/ used the names, it was a technique to get around automated censorship (because otherwise you have to now ban common black names in posts, which is racist). You might still get manually banned by a troony mod for using something like Tyrone but nobody ever got banned for using Karen in the same way.
