    >Drawing art

    Bad examples for AI displacement:
    >Doing plumbing

      lmao imagine thinking like this
as soon as some nerd tries to hotswap his liquid cooled gpu for funsies he'll design a latch mechanism for it and its over for all types of plumbing, computery or otherwise residential. the cumbersome empty cylinder is replaced with machined rectangle-like segments with no-spill swaps. the inner tube still there somewhere inside, easier than ever to swap out thanks to its new interface enclosure.
although *technically* that isnt AI... but then all the shortcuts in the computer aided design could be AI'd.
      just like that, chumps.

its not shiny tech, it'd be dirt cheap substrate like PVC with rubber and some strategically placed aluminum pegs if anything, _thats_ Technology, abundance out of cognitive exercise. the only hefty expense is at the design stage and, well, ...lmao. the initial rollout will be limited, and then everywhere all at once. good fricking luck lol

furthermore i'm hyped about finally replacing copper pipes out for something less toxic like Silicon Nitride or similarly inert ceramics or composite materials that don't shatter nor affect the water supply. the major reason to avoid doing it now is the stupid fricking pipes requiring an absurd amount of babysitting with varying types of tape and plumbers who'd probably damage them while installing them.
any new inner coating against biofilm or hard water scaling can be tested and rejected multiple times without any major damage.

No normie can use CAD software, nor install the easiest watercooling without specific instructions that someone wrote and checked is 100% correct.

Try generating plumbing instructions for your house and follow through, I'll wait.

I think it's too soon to tell about the art thing. It's laughable to claim that any professional application of art would have high error margins

Art tolerates it well because small inconveniences can still only be brushed up upon. Failing a pipe install will result in catastrophic water damage to the house

It should help with that, provided there would be competition and not couple giants owning the entire playing field. Though in my country the government already pays for your food, housing, meds, phone bills and leaves a couple hundred extra every month if you simply choose to not work.

It's similar in Germany although those couple of hundred you have left over are meant for food and any other expenses and if you fail to apply for job positions they are going to cut that by up to 30% which leaves you with 280€ a month instead of 400. Or maybe its 350 instead of 500, I don't know.

Even if AI can write pieces of code you still need programmers for bugfixing and assembling them all together. Plus you need actual humans for R&D

        Anonymous

Exactly. Until we have a good enough AGI we'll still need programmers to give the AI good prompts, organize the code, and bugtest the shit out of it. Also by the time AI is good enough to create perfect bug-free code for apps and shit on the word go we're basically all fricked anyways.

NTA but that's probably hard to guess. Until then every company under the sun is going to be chasing this tech so you can certainly expect a lot of hiring to everything involving buzzwords like data, inference, training, models but what you will really be doing is maintaining some third party stuff bought to make sure they can announce they are doing implementing AI workloads to do x faster and reliably. kek

I don’t think anything is off limits. When you look at human history a handful of people have ever done anything useful while everyone else is just there for the ride. In between the few who did something and the general masses you have grifters and that’s where the money is at. Find a good grift. All you do is take what’s already there and package it in a way that makes people think it’s new and has an impressive look about it. AI doesn’t change this.

There are nothing in human history comparable to AI, this will not just make some work faster with less people but it will also change how we view the art. It will be slowed down by legal and "moral" bullshit but no one will be able to stop this, especially when we have China that does not give a shit about copyrights and western sjws.

Making a robot that can reliably fix a sink or install a light fixture at a reasonable price is literally decades away at best
It’s funny how AI is replacing artists and writers first when supposedly it was going to be menial jobs who get wiped out, and we’d be living in a utopia

I wouldn't be so optimistic. This is going to be weaponized before it becomes a net good.

        Anonymous

Being weaponized doesn't mean it gets to be used for nefarious reasons. Look at nuclear, or microbiology (I know, I know kek). There's still something good to be taken from it. I think the wealthy elites are just as interested in making sure the bottom of the population doesn't die in the gutter as long as they get to maintain their control. Painting them as evil maniacs is too cartoonish. It's more like they are too detached from everyday reality.

That's wishful thinking. Look at the history of civilization and we've been hitting pretty solid home runs at improving everything. I'll concede that this is still some form of wishful thinking too before everything goes bananas in some apocalyptic scenario, but still, could be 50 years as well as 300 years from now. A lot of doomsayers have been proved wrong time and time again.

unironically anything about sales won't be touched by AI. The problem is being a (good) salesman is way more difficult than being a programmer.

Even if you aren't blessed with genetic autism, you can be a code monkey and get some job doing menial work. But being a salesman, oh boy, you are born with it or you don't. No training, no experience will make you a good salesman.

tl;dr: be a salesman if you have the good genes for it.

OP's pic is a failed attempt at a meme. Instead of looking at her ass, he's looking at the viewer. This is just an example of an annoying aspect about the state of image AI, it can eventually generate good visuals if you prompt & cherry pick enough, but it keeps screwing up on nuances.
