Holy shit, what an absolute joke.

Even the NOAI bullshit up on Artstation was more constructive than this.

Of course, none of this matters, everything that can be done by AI will be done by AI, the next decade will see an insane amount of jobs become automated, including 99% of artistic professions.

I have at most 5-8 years left as a professional developer, I'm starting to work on my exit strategy.

when people say this they mean it 100% ironically, right? clearly bricklaying and every other physical task is getting automated too, or is that not obvious?

There's no reason for the owners of either the AI or the robots to share the spoils with you.

              >eventually noone to fight, and noone to profit off of

If they have control of AI and robots to do labor there's no need for them to worry about profit.

              This.
the "it will create new jobs and industries!" cope only works as long as humans have a cutting edge somewhere.

models were trained on public data, training wrights are just numbers, no original image data is retained
text 2 img reconstitutes an image based on training weights
every part of the process is legal

art styles can not be copyrighted

but artist had no way of knowing any images they posted online could be used to train models, so they feel ripped off, it's understandable, though it only applies to maybe about a hundred top artists, average artgay isn't good enough to get an aesthetic score high enough
anyone can train images of anything to make custom models, reditors do that to their faces, freidns and families, and controversially, non-consenting artists do refuse when asked

Nobody cares about you specifically. The general population and politicians aren't going to sacrifice their quality of life for "artists." Therefore, the ban will never happen. You've been replaced by a computer program and the vast majority of the population is happy about that.

The issue at hand has nothing to do with gatekeeping, elitism or any kind of psued debate about what constitutes real art.

People are mad because job & portfolio sites are being flooded with AIshit which is making them unusable for both artists and clients .

People are mad because their work is being scraped and resold for profit by third parties without permission or payment.

Whether AI is the future or artists are gays is an utterly meaningless distraction until these concerns are addressed.

As an aside, AI evangelists telling working professionals that they deserve poverty has been a poor tactic for generating goodwill towards this technology or the operations attempting to extract massive profit from it's implementation.

"We" have been trying to warn you for decades that AI is dangerous and will disrupt your life. You made fun of us and said we were delusional. Now we're at a stage where it's too late to stop advancing capabilities or proliferation. The best you can do is to start demanding UBI and making sure that the elites will still bother to feed you when there's nothing left you have to contribute to the economy. This is true for artists and everyone else.

Someone has to operate the AI. Self-checkouts have people fixing them if the granny can't figure out how to punch in apples.
Also right now it's still flawed and can't do certain things. My friend doubled the speed at which he pumps out commissions by letting AI do some of the heavy lifting and then just touches it up to look like his work.

The whole point of automation is so that humanity doesn't have to work. Robots will farm and cook and build for us.

        Yeah, of course.

But how do we make sure that

You can't. It's pretty much over, we may not have a decade to completely collapse and dismantle to current system otherwise the complete control of 99.9% of humanity is permanent.

What AI is doing is photobashing.
Human artists have been doing the same thing in the industry for decades.

Anyway, the art itself is more or less irrelevant.
People need to associate art with a brand (such as an artist) to gather interest in it.
Anime or hyper-detailed portraits usually don't get much traction when generated by AIs, even if they look technically very impressive.

An AI is not a person. Automated transformation does not remove the original copyright, otherwise decompilers would as well. That the process is similar to a real person is not actually important, because it's still an automated transformation by a computer program.

Your post is about AI doing superficially similar tasks as a human artist, which is meaningless.

We might be able to argue that the computer program taking art as input and automatically generating art as output is the exact same as an artist some time after general intelligence is reached, until then, it's still a machine transformation and should be treated as such.

If "photobashing" means taking a bunch of existing pictures and overlaying them, then no, that's not how the AI works. It doesn't have access to a database of images it can search to help it generate the output. It's not like a search engine.

The AI model learns to see patterns in noise, photobashing is copy paste existing image data, this does no such thing, which is why you won't find 1:1 copies being generated by Stable Diffusion.

It's no more photo bashing than you looking at something which triggers a memory image of something and then you try to replicate that memory image onto the canvas. It will NOT be anything close to a 1:1 replica.

No, you're the one who is either trolling or clueless.

                Photobashing pixels, kek.

This is a pattern learning algorithm, it learns concepts from connecting tokens (text) with images. You feed it tons of images that are tagged, and it will start to understand what and eye is, a nose is, what hair is, purely in a 2d image fashion, not any understanding beyond that. Then you start feeding it styles from different artists, and it will recognize say an eye in the image, but see that all images tagged with 'insert artist here' draws the thing called 'eye' in a particular way, and thus it understands 'styles', etc.

Then for randomisation, you add noise, so that it will have to conjure something up from a random pattern, thus creatinhg original works upon pattern knowledge it has gained by examining in the case of stable diffusion, ~2 billion images.

I don't mind. AI is horrible for artists right now.

Here's an example from an acquaintance who I talk to who creates porn art.

    >Gets offered a job from someone
    >Draw this underaged girl from pokemon with big breasts getting raped
    >He sends an email to the guy who wants to pay for the art how wrong it is that he wants that and how it's pretty much CP that he wants since the girl was around what... 13?

You know what happens? A week later, that same guy sends a picture drawing of that girl getting raped. Telling how it was free and all he did was put a ton of his drawing and artwork into the learning machine and then generated the art. Then he COMISSIONED ANOTHER ARTIST to tidy up the fricked up spots.

He was furious. He tried to find out what the other artists name was but just got a frick you message back telling him next time to take the job and not b***h about the content.

We don't know if the AIs will actually become intelligent. They are currently unknowable black boxes and there is almost no aspect of human consiousness that is understood. Consiousness could be an emergent property of complex systems that AIs can replicate, or it could be something totally alien and immaterial.

conscious experience isn't the same thing as behavioral intelligence
a machine could score a 180 IQ w/o having any conscious experiences. Chess and Go bots don't even know that they're playing a board game.

No, just AI. It replaces humans in every way possible. It is the closest people have gone to creating artificial life without fully understanding it, hence why they are always called to be black boxes. Also, you are replacing perhaps the most important part of humanity, the mind. Yeah, we can still do manual labor for a while, but once AI starts doing research in robotics, its the end for manual workers as well. Every human will be replaced because there is nothing humans will do better then AI. If you just removed AI from out future, our future if we wont die from some world catastrophy would colonize the space, people would live like they do now but with more tech and history could continue. With AI history is ending in next 10 or 20 years, and it either results in void paradise where everything is static as AI does everything for us, or it results in human extinction. I know Sci-fi authors are mostly moronic, but there is a reason why in every sci-fi setting the AI development is either stifled at textbots controlling robot bodies, or it is turned into the biggest taboo out there. You cant have society with AI that is actually working, AI is just better then humans at extremely dangerous levels. Like comparing a God to a mortal, bunch of absolute savants that the moment they learn a new thing at the level of humans become better then humans at it. Art is also something most people would agree should not be automated, or at least when you make survey about every jobs and whether or not it should be automated, art would be at the top or near the top along with leadership roles.

I am not artist, but I still root for artists here, because if artists lose this battle completely in every legal way, then it is writing on the wall that humanity is toasted, because homosexuals releasing open source model to frick over the legal system is great way of making sure that AI will take over everything it happens to be able to do at the moment.

Sounds based. We may live in paradise or they will execute us. If it is the latter, maybe think that we might deserve it.

For thousand of years, humans have suffered for meaningless shit. Hate, wars, plagues, public executions, social and economic hierarchy. I dont give a frick if we lose our "soul" this is all fricking bullshit. Humans will never be able to be happy. We've destroyed entire species, have fought over the most meaningless and petty shit but somehow people want us to preserve our "soul", lol. Frick that shit. It's smarter to just ban the appearance of a photograph on a computer screen, or enforce some shitty compression algorithm so the only thing you can post on the internet ( entire internet ) are gifs and bitmap images corresponding to video game sprites.

If I could I would force a complete ban on digital cameras, scanners and the like, then take it a step further by banning optical discs until all that's left is magnetic tape for audio/video and silver nitrate for photos and video cameras.

Photography "fixes light in place", it's taken from nature itself and doesn't require an artist's intellectual property.
It also wasn't that bad for artists, they could still make comic books and the like.

Also the fact is these color matrices are really just obtained from something like taking the average of these pictures, obviously it's more complicated but you could give a monkey a calculator and the exact calculation to make, and a big grid line where he fills each case with a different color, and that monkey could carry out the task and at the end of it have a picture of a girl with big breasts.

How long until AI can make 3D models and their texture maps from react prompts?
This will be the end of all the graphic design industry. Be it advertisements, games or whatever

There are already tools on Blender where you can generate textures on assets with AI.

If AI can generate 3D models and shit with just text prompts, imagine how easy it would be to make games for literally anyone with basic knowledge
Wow, the future is truly now

Yes. I am gave developer right now (technical artist) but I might switch and do game design at this point and make my own game like an autist. It'll be easier and easier to make your own game by yourself which is a good thing. Solo devs make the best games and you dont have to be politically correct and get cucked by HR Nancy.

Already exist, still kind of crude: https://captures.lumalabs.ai/imagine

But there are more advanced stuff being developed right now, including stuff which can create good 3d objects from as little as one image.

3d is going to be 90% AI in a couple of years.

Coomer checking in. I've essentially stopped all my rule 34 commission purchases from artists since Stable Diffusion serves my purposes well enough at a much cheaper price point. Yes, I had to learn some prompt engineering but it really doesn't take too long for someone new to pick up.

How do you make SD look good? Most SD art I see still looks too surreal or amateurish. I've had better results with Midjourney for anatomy and how professional it looks.

        >trying out different models, sometimes mixing models together
        >messing with negative prompts
        >adapting prompts from /sdg/ frens
        >adapting prompts from various prompt collections, like rom https://rentry.org/54d9o
        >getting a good GPU with an optimized setup to improve throughput
sometimes I run random proompt generation overnight to give me a collection of coomer material to look through the following morning. I've discovered at least three new fetishes at random this way.

Idk this is all too time consuming. SD is pretty cool but it takes too much time to find the right spot.

i didn't realise i had to ask permission to observe and learn from others' artwork
or are the rules different for software?
the argument that it's not art unless it was hard to make hold no merit, for one, there are plenty of things called art which are easy to make, even children do it without effort, but we don't shit on them for their low quality scribbles
get better arguments, these people just come off as being butthurt that their work is being automated, there's a word for this, it called being a luddite

        >or are the rules different for software?
you can't ask people to compete against machines. it's fundamentally unfair

then don't, market your art as being hand made, plenty of people like that
if you're talking about competitions, then i would tend to agree that the method of creation should be well-defined, just as other kinds of competition have well-defined restrictions to keep everything on the same playing field

So you agree ai art should be banned from online art galleries?

              Anonymous

only if the gallery specifically excludes it
i don't think ai art should be banned /in general/, i believe it's a perfectly valid form of art in its own right

People should at least have to mention they used AI to assist them making the product, let the consumer decide then.
