if trans-humanism doesn't go from humanism to humanism than its not trans-humanism, is dehumanization

if you're so eager to cease the basic functions of human existence and to escape them entirely then just kys OP don't drag us into some dystopian troon-humanist hell with you

No, copy paste (maybe edit something) from the original. I'm not talking about converting human consciousness in to "alien like" consciousness

Robots don't have eternal souls. They don't have free-will and they can never have free-will. Trans-humanism is quite literally the death of humanity.

In the same way transsexuality is castration of the penis, transhumanism is removal of the soul.

It is not, it is transcendence. Leaving our biological shells and continuing as a form of pure energy is our evolution and our true purpose as intelligent lifeforms

What else in your list of nonexistent things? Gush dude, read scientific articles. For example your freewill is just ability to choose between patterns that you didn't create and etc. And stop calling didital beings robots.

Your loaded question ruined the thread but I agree that turning into a robot is silly. In my opinion we should focus on genetic engineering to improve ourselves instead of abandoning our biological machines for metal ones. I feel like a person wanting to become a computer is the same as a artist wanting to become his paintbrush, or a sculptor wanting to become his chisel, it just seems silly.

Mind upload is only viable as a gradual mechanism. Connecting your mind to a hollow exocortex and then let it grow new virtual neurons, in connection with your already existing brain. This amalgam needs to grow large enough to survive the dissolution of its analog part but once achieved digital existence is there and with it eternity.

      >and with it eternity.
Does this sound like a desirable proposition to you?
Why would one willingly transfer to a substratum to allow one to be trivially commanded like one is a literal npc script? This doesn't even have to involve grandiose breakthroughs in neuroscience -- just simulate to the digitized person an ear-melting shrill tone until they comply. Or stimulate some pain nerve.
Even without a good agenda, like bending others to a master's will, such propositions are trivially inflictable.
      Eternity is a long time.
Do you get where I am going with this?

        >Does this sound like a desirable proposition to you?
Yes. I plan to live forever, of course. Barring that I would settle for a few thousand trillion years, Even 500 would be pretty nice.
        >Why would one willingly transfer to a substratum to allow one to be trivially commanded like one is a literal NPC script?
A biological mind could easier be affected via viruses while a closed system would be immune to outside tampering. A mind that has gradually become digital wouldn't remain on the same mindarchitecture as a baseline human and would be autosentient from begin on.

          >Yes. I plan to live forever,
LOL. You're going to get killed within the next 15-20 years by the same people who brainwashed you with this technotroon sci-fi.

          > Barring that I would settle for a few thousand trillion years, Even 500 would be pretty nice.
You will do no such thing. Accidents and violent conflict will ensure that. But sure, living long enough so one can die without regrets is the main goal.
          >A biological mind could easier be affected via viruses
You type this sentence. Now become cognizant of what it actually entails. Has such a thing -- personally targeted virus attacks to effect behavioural change -- ever been attempted? By contrast, with a digital substratum, the job of giving you the inputs I want you to receive (e.g. pain, disturbing images, etc.) is as simple as hacking the software that controls these inputs.

Notice how the digital variant allows both physical and non-physical such attacks, all of which are unspectacular and non-speculative; whereas biological only allows invasive, physical, and bespoke attacks with speculative/science-fiction technology or methods.
          >A mind that has gradually become digital wouldn't remain on the same mindarchitecture as a baseline human and would be autosentient from begin on.
What is the relevance of this statement? If your mind architecture changes to become e.g. averse to perceiving the color purple, then that would be used instead of a shrill tone or pain.
You will always have preferences, some of which maximal. From this naturally it follows that there will always be things that are antithetical to those preferences, thus becoming an attack vector.

            >- ever been attempted?
            Toxoplasm.
            >is as simple as hacking the software that controls these inputs.
            Closed System.

              >Closed System.
Cool, so you do not have actuators? These are a point of communication between the metal and your mind.
You do not have sensory input? These are a point of communication with the outside world.
Your software must also have a beyond ironclad pedigree, because if a backdoor or vulnerability was built in, you are out of luck.

I guess your plan might just work if you have a very long-lived energy source and are willing to spend your days as a hermit in a library reading books or watching movies.

Humanism eventually leads to posthumanism in an age now where technology has been the catalyst (changing social dynamics, increased voyeurisms and narcissism, the erosion of boundaries) in screaming at us louder and louder more and more what is even mean to be human when what is considered normal is ephemeral at this point. does that mean humanity manifests into a machine hivemind? Possibly. There seem to be across the spectrum less variety or novelty and humanity is become a stream of recycled wojaks and frogs in so many ways be it through unification of many technologies in a single device to language and style of speaking/writing. Social media and smart phones are really just an externalized pseudo-hivemind. Eventually you'll get psychic siblings like parallel consciousnesses synchronized within one body or the internet just through bodies if you really want hell. What's happening right now is the attempt to internalize technology. It remains where that takes us. Transgender and furry shit taken to its logical conclusion and people manifesting into any abstract concept they want or some AI god turning everything upside down on its head. Only time will tell.
