Why do artists get so ass mad about AI art.

They are literally being replaced by robots
Their jobs will soon be taken
      Same with dev teams
Some people have spent their lives honing their art skills, only to be shat on out of nowhere by the spooky machine man set free by the gubbermints or whatever
The artists can typically pick out mistakes or clues as to AI drawings but people who aren't artists don't really give a shit
So they are on their own flailing around like children while the rest of you are just looking on in confusion eyes dark and dumbfounded

You guys really just hate artists. If something is made by AI it has no value. Art is a humanist thing inherently; I can't imagine how vapid you have to be to appreciate "art" that didn't even come from living soul.

The only things that keep talented people alive is the idea everyone gets what they deserve. These people look down on everyone who is less fortunate than them and spout nonsense like "just practice bro". These are the guys who shit talk anyone who complains about something because they never actually had any problem with anything they ever tried. They were never in a situation with no way out and they all think it is thanks to their natural good personality and not something they were born with.

So now these people meet their match, getting completely outclassed by someone (something else). So they now do what the people they looked down on did before: whine and flail their arms, talk about injustice and how life is unfair. All their hard work was for nothing, because only the truly talented few percent will be able to stay competitive in this new era.

In the first time in their life they will experience powerlessness and they will realize they have no worth. And no matter how much they will b***h about it, it won't go away.

The truth is most people who get into art do so because they just want to keep doing what they were doing as kids, rather than develop an adult skillset. They really think "I'm good at doodling in my social studies notebook, so I should go to college to get better at doodling and people will pay for my doodles" as if that's how the world really works.
A very similar problem with "smart" kids ends up crushing their spirit when they think breezing through high school means they can half-ass a STEM programme, only for them to find out that they are just midwit autists who think a surface-level interest in commonly-known STEM facts lends them a natural talent for any of those fields.

Imagine having passion for a skill, and perhaps even going to school for many years to refine that skill to a point where people will actually pay you money to use it. You can make a living off your passion, and it feels good. You've worked hard for this and you've earned it.

But one day, you wake up, and for the first time in human history - this skill, this ability that literal kings have paid people's salaries for since the earliest days of civilization - it is no longer a human skill. What would have taken a skilled practitioner days to create can now be made in seconds, for free, by a computer simply by typing in a description into a box. Overnight, the prospect of making a living at that skill has become impossible.

Can people skill draw? Sure. But there will never be "best of the best" human artists anymore, because they'll all need day jobs. No longer will people be able to devote their entire lives to this, meaning we've also hit an apex of human artistic development since there simply won't be enough time in the day left to innovate. And really, who will want to when there's no chance of it ever being more than a hobby?

I'm a nurse so I think I can provide a unique perspective. My job is telling doctors what's wrong, what they should do about it, and then assist them in stuff that I suggested if it's not drug related. I make about three times what people doing the same thing I do minus telling doctors what to do stuff part. Ai is going to disrupt a lot of industries. I don't want to make less money or for patients to pay less just because a machine lowers costs by a lot. I chose, this job primarily for the hours and pay.

You might be a NEET, but when your mom loses her job to AI and kills herself, you'll be surprised at how little value you have in the job market. You'll go onto some sort of disability, until a different AI model will eventually decide to euthanize you.

I mean I can still help with procedures so I'm not totally on the streets yet, but without the telling doctors what to do part I lose about 80% of my usefulness. CNAs cost way less than me and are equally good at wiping ass so it's a threat. I'm just saying I can relate to the artgays here. Seeing them is a big reason why I have gpt4 plus subscription
I want to keep up with what's going on. I don't want nursing replaced by ass wipers but that's such a big part of our job.
Without us docs will just hire the cheaper scrub techs to take our place. Whole point of nurses is they wipe ass AND can tell docs what to do AND help with doing those things. I'm learning python and goofing around with modules. Most people have no idea how deep this shit goes. I'm not even a coder but I can do so much with it even though ai isn't even in it's infancy yet. If I don't go into data science I'm not going to have a job in five years because who's going to pay $50/hr to me for cleaning poop and velcro the docs gown then hand him shit? I see the future involving nurses mostly doing analytical stuff like infection control and taking an education or leadership role. I want to be ahead of the pack for this shift.

20 years before doctors and nurses are replaced by AI, robots, and technicians in first world countries.

That's being generous. I can't keep up with how fast new stuff is coming out.
Five years is reasonable. Ten years tops.

There's a strong chance technical artistry is all they've got going for them, of course it feels bad to know there's an automated process that can quickly render images on par with their own work. Work that might have required years to become skilled in.

There's the spiritual/religious component too, this notion that art is sacred, and that this sanctity is now being defiled.

I think there will always be a cottage industry for any human-made art form so long as homo-sapiens exist, but do not doubt that plenty of avenues to sustaining a life via art will be shut. It will not be a total loss for the purists, and for the consumer it's going to be great. It's a bit disheartening.

If you told someone 70 years ago that there would be an electric brain that could make our lives easier, they'd have been excited. "Wow, we could get our jobs done in minutes and have more time with our friends and families."

Now we're all scared because we live in this top-down society where we exist at the behest of the hyper rich and they will simply replace us with AI and pay us nothing. Mark my words, when AI gets regulated it will be banned for you and me, not the big companies that will use it to cut "expenses".

Fricking promptcels are moronic (unless they use stable diffusion). You are paying to train an AI that will be taken from you the moment they get enough data, then the license will be sold to big corporations and companies.

AI will become a true nightmare once we hit AGI. For every 10 jobs that get axed you'll maybe only need 1 AI herder. What happens to the rest? Living in a pod, eating gruel and selling their organs. Or being plumbers and janitors since jobs that would require an actual real life robot are impratical to automate as of yet.

There will never be an AI UBI utopia, you will be sterilized and you will live in a fricking pod because direct genocide is a bad look.

Give me a call when AI can make soulful music or come up with its own interesting concepts.

It can do those things. Music generation was solved in the 90s, no orchestra would record it.

As for concepts, simply ask it and you have your concepts.

I feel so hyped over these recent AI developments. Yeah the technology is still very primitive, but just imagine for a second what you'll be able to do with it in 5 years or so. Everyone will be able to fully unleash their creativity and materialize their dreams and ideas. There will be an endless stream of awesome comics, movies and films to consume. But there'll be a lot of garbage, too, and separating them will be difficult.

Much like the internet, AI art is 99% soulless generic coom shit so if that's all the artist could do then sucks to be them.

They are mad because they can't gatekeep their hobby with a $200,000 debt useless college degree and years of grinding anymore.
muh hands is literally the definition of cope. they are nitpicking at the smallest of details to find any possible reason to downplay their impending obsolescence.
Normal people don't give a shit, we just want aesthetic images which AI delivers on.

Because they've put possibly years of learning a skill only for it to be instantly replicated by AI, and with no ability to capitalize on it since AI can do it for free.

It's just something we'll have to accept. People used to draw portraits and landscapes before the camera was invented.

The Samurai used to train their entire lives, only to be replaced by peasants with guns when they were first introduced to Japan by the Portuguese. There was even a big battle over it, which you can guess how that went for the Samurai.

      >and with no ability to capitalize on it
No motivation to capitalize on it. Artgays could be using AI right now to streamline their own processes but they're too busy virtue signaling on twitter (like usual) to realize this.

Same reason cotton workers got pissed when the cotton gin got invented and started making many of them redundant. Keep in mind everyone was all on board when AI was going to automate and make truck drivers redundant, but now that artists are getting treaded on theyre crying foul and demanding this technological progress be grinded to a halt and they get special exemption. Classic case of not caring when others have shit flung at them, but then the shit starts flying at you and you expect everyone to help you

Because they take themselves extremely seriously and can't imagine somebody simply playing around with software casually to generate art. To them, it's serious business and AI trivialises it. I should mention that there is a minority of people who say that they're artists by using AI, and I can understand why that's frustrating for real artists.

The process of artisanalization is painful for people who have built their life up around an industry. They are forced to cling onto the idea of authenticity to maintain relevance. Drawing will always be worthwhile as a hobby and a sport, but it's value as a career is plummeting. None the less, there will always be artists who are good at something which AI can't do for whatever reason, just as knitting has been automated since the industrial revolution, but no one has yet been able to design an effective crochet machine

because twitter artists make being an "artist" their entire identity and they feel threatened. they can't gatekeep anymore and that makes them mad.

Because artists have no real skill and are useless pieces of shit.
The real ones will use AI to make their own art even better.
The ones that aren't needed will get culled.

so its based to be able to play someone elses songs when you know an instrument, but cringe to create your own original songs with or without instruments. makes sense

AI is completely soulless, even if the images it produces are high quality. It's just sterile.
