Why did people start calling machine learning and llm, AI? Is it just some viral marketing for normalhomosexuals that dont understand tech?
Why did people start calling machine learning and llm, AI? Is it just some viral marketing for normalhomosexuals that dont understand tech?
Finally somone who understands.
It is funny watching artists and voice actors complain about it all
It's AI, but not AGI. Just because it doesn't have agency it doesn't mean is not intelligent.
>rename AI to AGI
>call next word predictor AI
why people are like this?
is goldfish intelligent? no we don't consider it to be
why we consider current "AI" solutions intelligent?
because "infant AGI" is not a good term
they are intelligent because they solve a huge plethora of reasoning problems that humans generally cant
they aren't solving reasoning problems
they are just pattern matching from a huge database of previous data
sounds like DNA
sounds like what humans do
>just pattern matching from a huge database of previous data
Just like humans do, AGI deniers a a bunch of luddites.
now I'm confused, are the current LLMs AGI?
Humans do significantly more than that, which is why we have computers and orangutans don't. Only by reducing the significance of the word "intelligence" to such meaningless that even single-celled organisms would be classified as such can you continue to entertain the delusion that your chatbots are intelligent. It's israelite behavior, and so is your use of Luddite in a disparaging way. The Luddites were not opposed to technology, only to the use of technology in ways that would harm human beings. As such they did not destroy the machines belonging to fair employers who realized the value of technology in assisting the employee, only exploitative ones who in their greed ignored any harm they did to their employees.
machine learning, diffusion models, large language models, GANs ...
the "AI" label is really misleading
>diffusion models
statistic function that is literally just approximating learned data with random noise
>LLM
again, statistic function which guesses what word will follow after the next based on learned data and random noise (seed)
...
You can reduce anything down to the lowest component and conclude that it's less than it is in practice, essentially you're implying that attributes are isomorphic at every level. Humans are "just" atoms of a certain order, but this isn't a useful description. If you knew exactly how the brain worked you'd be making similar comments.
>Is it just some viral marketing for normalhomosexuals that dont understand tech?
Quite literally yes. If you don't give it a normie friendly buzzword name normies won't spend money on it.
Pretty much yes, new buzzword to sell just like NFT
The most annoying thing about machine learning being called AI is that now I can't talk about AI in video games without people thinking I'm talking about machine learning and not the logic governing behaviour of non-player entities.
That stuff in games never should have been called AI either.
What's even worse is that there are entire university degrees with "artificial intelligence" with zero content regarding AI, logical agents and shit, maybe one (1) course at best. G-d academia is just a joke, fucking clown word, it's like a SEO is making up this shit
Machine learning falls under ai innit
Ai is mimicking human behavior and ml is trying to mimic how brains work in a crude way
>Neural networks, Machine learning, Large Language Models...
🙁
>Hey goy check out this new ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE that's right it's just like le skynet from le terminator and now you can talk to it!
:O
More importantly, since when people started calling programs, "apps"??
Since the very beginning, kid.
since steve jobs
the phrase "there's an app for that" ruined an entire generation of users
Since at least the 1980s, zoomers.
well, maybe it's because it's a catchy name that sounds like it's from the future, and it's easier to pronounce than 'machine learning and deep learning'
Normies are retarded.
Anything new that can convince fools it's intelligent is called "AI" until people find its flaws and limits, and the spell gets broken.
I'm old enough to remember when expert systems were "AI", and would herald AGI in two more weeks; when OCR was "AI", and would herald AGI in two more weeks; when Unreal Engine 1's enemy movement was "AI", and would herald AGI in two more weeks; when Ryzen's branch predictor was "AI", and would herald AGI in two more weeks (OK, maybe not); etc. etc. et-fucking-c.
