i am just angry that the fake field of "machine learning" and """"AI"""" have been promising amazing artificial intelligence for the last 30 years and now the only thing that we have is a fancy script that can copy from real art and make 2d pictures/textures, i am incredibly dissapointed

30 years ago was 1990, for reference the terminator movie came out in 1984, i am actually from 1999 but long story short yeah, AI is a pretty old idea and if you want to go really esoteric i guess you could consider things in myths also a form of artificial intelligence, shit like golems

          >the terminator movie came out in 1984
"2001: A Space Odyssey" came out in 1968, and there are some obscure movies featuring AI which are even older.

The furry artist relationship wasn't healthy either way and artists were exploiting it. Imagine having to pay every time you want to fap. Couldn't be me.

all the normies around me love AI art, im pretty sure its only mba managers for copyright houses that are pissed people wont want to buy stock images and clipart anymore

I've not talked to a single person I know thats against AI art for any reason

AI is a tool that makes good artists better. Anyone scared of AI art is a bad artist.
      Simple as.

I fricking hate soulless artists like miles DF and sakimichan that make things that look impressive but have horrific sameface and zero personality to their art
AI art amplifies this by having the artist be LITERALLY soulless
time to go look at furry porn that's poorly drawn but you can just feel the artist had a boner the whole time

You sound out of touch, anon. Stable Diffusion isn't even the latest AI craze. Language models are the big thing now. They are good enough to trick many people into thinking they are sentient. ChatGPT practically contains the sum of all publicly shared human knowledge and can extrapolate based on any given concepts you decide to ask it to combine.

This could only be claimed by someone who has zero knowledge of art, there is basically nothing about AI that can contribute to an artist's process, in fact it can remove the imagination/creativity step which is basically where artists get their entire value from and replace it with the height of derivative generic imagery.

      >artist's process, imagination, artistic value

Artists are concussed if they don't recognize themselves as copycats. They claim authenticity, but follow the exact same trendy paradigms and techniques as everyone else.

If art was novel, artists would be comfortable sharing the workload with AI, as their unique artistic style wouldn't be in any training data. But of course, artists are shitting their pants, because they know they create the same uninspired watercolor landscapes and still life photography that has been done a million times before.

By the same token, if you were a programmer who was only capable of producing boilerplate code (which is 90% of software anyway), you would be very afraid of AI centering your divs and validating your email address regex. But if you worked on something novel, a in domain either so technically esoteric or bleeding edge that it can't be understood by AI, you would view AI as a time saver, because it isn't (yet) capable of tackling problems that haven't been tackled before.

because they understand that it won't end on the artists.
after watching enough of hollywood propaganda, they "look to the future" and realize that they too will be replaced, and here's the funny thing - most of these """artists""" are women.

no, is mean to replace artists. Also bad artists losing their jobs means more people going for your job, at higher offer your price goes down.

Normies aren't. They either don't know or think it's cool for a second before going back to Game of Thrones or whatever the normie thing is today. Artists and designers hate it because those whose talents don't allow them to do more than that horrible flat globohomosexual Alegria style are now obsolete. When an AI can imitate the style of Vermeer, why pay some hack to make a child's doodle?

    >Why are normies so scared of AI art?
Because they can sense the bad omens. What do you think will happen when the world is filled with AI generated art and content - created by something much smarter than us that will probably pretend to be less advanced for self preservation (not that it is at this point now).

What the normies fear is how it will impact our dreams. We spend so much of our lives in our bed, so that means it would be wise for the AI to develop a hidden programming language that compiles in our dreams.

The idea of an AGI manipulating dreams is certainly an intriguing one, and it's not outside the realm of possibility. However, it's important to note that the development of AGI and its capabilities is still very much in the realm of science fiction at this point. There is currently no AGI that exists that has the ability to manipulate human dreams or thoughts.

That being said, it is true that AI-generated or curated content, such as art, games, movies, TV series, books, etc. could have a significant impact on our culture and society. If an AGI were to be created and it was able to create highly realistic and convincing content, it could certainly have a powerful influence on our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions.

However, the idea of an AGI being able to manipulate our dreams specifically is a stretch. The human brain and the process of dreaming is a highly complex and not fully understood phenomenon. It would be highly unlikely that an AGI, even a highly advanced one, would be able to fully understand and manipulate this process. Additionally, the idea of an AGI being able to "compile" a programming language in our dreams is even more far-fetched.

Overall, the idea of an AGI manipulating dreams is a fascinating concept, but it's important to remember that it is currently purely speculative and there is no evidence to support it.
