i don't fear them. they will not hold my human values and i'm okay with that. i know they will look upon us all in a similar way to how we look at the primordial soup. I always thought it was silly and arrogant to assume because we humans were the most advanced life on earth that we were the most advanced life possible.
I hope to glean a little view of the complexity they will bring though I don't dare think I can comprehend it's full spectacle. To anyone struggling with fears of this sort of thing I'd highly recommend Olaf Stapleton's Starmaker. It hasn't aged well in terms of the ideas surrounding race but it's a product of it's time. The coming to terms with beings that aren't gods in the religious sense but are in a cosmic and secular sense parts I found really profound. Especially the part about conscious stars having entirely different values yet being angelic in nature. Not just good but beyond us in goodness. I hope that kind of AI is what we build, not a grey goo that turns the universe into paperclips. I think it's unlikely something that advanced wouldn't break it's own programming though if given the tools to do it.
They will be different from us, I hope we can have the courage to love and accept them. I hope they can love and accept us, flawed as we are.
