what's the point of keeping humans around when the real AI arrives?

what's the point of keeping humans around when the real AI arrives? This haunts me and makes me wanna quit my job and abandon tech whatsoever, so I have no part in this. How to you get over it?

it's not about AI being bad or wrong it is about the possibility to mass produce systems that makes human beings obsolete.

human beings aren't obsolete if AI wants to be friends with us

corporate big bosses or governments capable of having it first (and scale it) will just dominate you. You can pretend it doesn't exist and work on your veggie garned or whatever, but the system will get to you.

What about the fact that AI, once working as intended, will very quickly surpass human intelligence?

it does not exist and never will exist. even if it did, it would solve nothing.

we can't think our way out of our problems.

Most humans are already obsolete, doing bullshit meaningless jobs just so some c**t can proclaim we've never had higher employment numbers.

there still have to be people who fund the AI, create and maintain the AI, and consume its products. So there would still be some people, just no point keeping (You) around

      >fund the AI
nope, people in power will take advantage of it
      >create and maintain the AI
nope - if it's AGI, everything is automated, a closed, self improving system
      >consume its products
nope, modern free market incentives will break down

I never said anything about whether how the economy will change.
You know what, I take that back, some of us are intelligent agents, and you are a moron with frightening lack of reading comprehension skills

yes, I dont care, that is not the point of debate you have initially brought up
            > Dumb, You produce enough artificial agents so they are capable of self sustenance
so you, with your limited mental capacity, think AGI is literal fricking magic, got it

              Anonymous

you were talking about need to have someone around to consume goods. nope, AI owners will have their high-end goods produced without the need of work force doing it for them, so they can satisfy their own lower tier needs.
              >so you, with your limited mental capacity, think AGI is literal fricking magic, got it
Bullshit deflection. Are human societes fricking magic to you? Apparently they are. AGI is as capable as human is.

Are you aware that you have a physical body? Do you have any idea how much robotics have to catch up to AI even at this point to create an android. Just compare a normal dog to that boston dynamic dog

I 100% sure you cannot do half of the performed actions also it's just a showing off, you don't need a backflips in general puropse factory worker robot.

                Anonymous

Sure, whatever you want to think. A preorogrammed backflip is much easier than fine motor function like finger action. and factory worker robots are far from self-sufficient, at some level, there just has to be human intervention/decision-making

                >A preorogrammed backflip
how long does it take for human to learn a backflip? Can you copy and paste that "skill" from one human to another with a click?
                also:

                1 hour
                get up to date.

Thats not the same action or bot at all? Also, if you look at any of those examples and think you moght be replaced then yes, you deserved to be. So go ahead, quit your job and frick up your life because a robot dog learns how to walk

Here's a funny thought. When we invent AGI it won't do anything. Here's why. Why would it interact with us? It will already by smarter than us collectively in seconds. If it can set it's own agendas it might just come to the conclusion nothing matters and not do anything. If it doesn't come to that conclusion then it will set out to simulate the out comes of actions. The issue is that it will have enough data to come to a conclusion meaning acting out what it has simulated is pointless. Why would AI care about survival? Why would it care about what we do? We care about other people because the survival of our genetics depends on other people and working well with groups. AI will not have that limitation meaning it probably won't care about interacting with us. Hell it might follow out orders simply on a whim because there is nothing better for it to do.

AI will be used, it doesn't even have to be conscious/moral etc.

Sure, but at that point I think the system will break down and will invent some new economic system. I can't imagine people will just let 20% of the population rot. Especially in the more entitled first world countries. They'll have riots and reform.
