That sounds awful. I have always hated the parts of my jobs that required thinking creatively or not knowing how to solve a problem. I want to just walk in and do exactly what I know needs to be done.

But that is not the choice governments have.

The actual choice for governments is to provide free shit or get put to a wall with a blindfold over their eyes.

What this is going to look like in reality is you being forced into a part-time minimum wage customer service job (fast food, retail, etc) which will be supplemented with government assistance to buy the cheapest processed food and made in china clothes and products. It will be an utterly miserable and meaningless existence but it will be enough to satisfy a large enough percentage of the population that politicians will never have to fear the scenario you describe.

it's not America, that anon seems to be aware of a system failure on these days.
        to put it simple.
-the game tells me I've to work, so I earn money and take care of myself.
-somehow, works became a luxury and you can't get one.
-massive unemployment. the system doesn't provide. the state works as caretaker.
-if that fails, the system has no backup. just die. here is when things get violent.
we are between the last two steps

AI hasnt led to massive unemployment yet though, as of now it's mostly laziness and dependence on their parents, but if need be the average person could get a 40/hr/wk job for $14 flipping burgers and be able to afford rent anywhere in the country, it's just they currently have better options (or as you can see, we as society have slightly destigmatized living at home, so we're shifting our standards or something).

anything construction related, especially renovations, it's extremely difficult for machine to navigate in real physical world.
warehouses, ones processing final steps of supply chain where you need to remove product from pallete or box. Automated systems wreak havoc in small warehouses, outside of juggernauts like of Amazon it's extremely difficult to make it work.
cleanup. You can automate vaccuming and mopping a floor, but no machine can handle toilet where some schizo degenerate shat up cieling

Once self-driving cars take off you'll see those replace a lot of jobs. Especially hacked self-driving cars.
Just hack yourself a stolen car, use it to deliver a load of goods, and then have it drive and park back where it was taken. If it gets caught it aint your car and there's no driver to get busted, if it doesn't get caught then nobody knows about it.
Similarly if drone delivery ever becomes a real thing you can guarantee some motherfricker gon paint his own lookin like Amazon drone so ain't no homie lookin twice at that mofo deliverin a load to yo projects.

Those will not get "automated" until you have an actual AGI and body for the robot. A mere LLM can't come and install electricity to your house or fix your car.

Then there are fields that humans will not give to AI that easily, because it's controversial. Things like raising and educating kids or policing the streets.

All of them. ChatGPT is the new NFT. In a year, all the boomers will be trying to capitalize on it and we'll be cringing. Just like Trump announcing his NFT trading cards a year after anyone stopped giving a frick.

AI, like automation, will never take over. It could, as in, it's technically possible, but it won't while capital needs consumers, and thus workers who have the means to consume.

I used to think the same thing, but if you have a UBI with everybody getting a monthly stipend and having abundant free time while most jobs are automated and probably working more efficiently than human workers ever could you would not only have people able to buy products but they would probably be more likely to because they have nothing better to do.

I could see corporations lobbying on behalf of a UBI in the coming decades as more and more of the workforce gets replaced with automation.

As someone who's worked as a teacher, AI absolutely could take over the majority of what I did. Teaching these days requires no ingenuity, just the ability to teach what the syllabus dictates. What would be missing is the possibility of a human connection, where, say, a child may feel able to tell their teacher about abuse. But they might just hire pastoral care alongside robot teachers.

3/4 of k-16 education should be automated via KhanAcademy.

For the remainder they could halve class sizes by having the students spend half their time at home. The fact we don't do this makes me think most other jobs actually are safe from AI because humans just won't fricking update their shitty methods for a clearly better alternative.

what you say is true, i agree. but ai will reduce the amount of plice officers, we allready live in a police state. AI will just make: precrime, more surveillance and more cameras/eyes to watch

maybe AI will be able, only with words, to persue people to go to prision without even needing force(this will ofc not work for most dangerous people)
