by having robotic facsimile, great. can't wait for mr Goldiggenstein to then withdraws the AI unless you get a subscription+relinquish rights for all the art generated and sue anyone using it illegaly. you want to save white art? make it yourself instead of training the tool that will enslave you.

I know it's hard for you to imagine an example without using an AI but please bear with us...it's also ironic given the propensity of your country to enact ridiculous laws.

AI has the potential to automate certain tasks and change the way that work is done in certain industries, but it is important to recognize that it is simply a tool, and it is up to humans to decide how it is used. Rather than seeing AI as a threat to our livelihoods, we can consider it an opportunity to augment and enhance our abilities, and to explore new and innovative ways of using technology to improve our lives and the world around us.

Human creativity and artistry are valuable and unique, and it is important to recognize and celebrate the abilities and contributions of real artists. While AI may be able to mimic certain aspects of human creativity, it will never be able to fully replicate the complex emotions and experiences that drive true art. The value of human art and creativity will always lie in the meaning and depth that it brings to the world.

The problem wi AI art, is that if you can actually draw, it never gives you what you want, it’s just easier to draw what you want, I use it sometimes for backgrounds thought.

Artists are already salivating at the prospect of saying you used AI to make artwork so therefore you have no copyright and they can just steal everything you've made.

That's their real impetus for what they're saying and doing. They want to steal what others make and accuse you of doing it.

Not true. If you want to use NeuralBlender AI outputs for commercial purposes, you need to purchase credits and then you own the copyrights. Then when you file with the Copyright Office, you specify this.

Agree 100%. AI is a tool and a human still needs to “direct” it. Even if AI gets more sophisticated, a human will still be needed to make final creative decisions. And if AI evolves beyond that, the novelty will eventually wear off and there will be demand for a human touch.

Hmmm, interesting. Looks like policies have changed since mid 2021.

It’s also possible that the example provided isn’t general to AI art, but rather to use of Midjourney vs other AI art engines. For example:
            Midjourney:
            Rights you give to Midjourney
By using the Services, you grant to Midjourney, its successors, and assigns a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicensable no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute text, and image prompts you input into the Services, or Assets produced by the service at your direction. This license survives termination of this Agreement by any party, for any reason.
            Your Rights
Subject to the above license, you own all Assets you create with the Services. This does not apply if you fall under the exceptions below.
Please note: Midjourney is an open community which allows others to use and remix your images and prompts whenever they are posted in a public setting. By default, your images are publically viewable and remixable. As described above, you grant Midjourney a license to allow this. If you purchase a private plan, you may bypass some of these public sharing defaults.

            As opposed to NeuralBlender:
All free tier images are under a CC-BY License. That allows you to do pretty much whatever you want with them as long as you mention NeuralBlender.com. For Premium Tier images the full Copyright is transferred to you. This gives you total ownership and control over the creation. NeuralBlender.com will retain permission to host the created image.

Moral of the story: read the terms and conditions when shopping for your AI tool.

On a separate but semi-related note, the Anime AI generator has very unique language around denying use of their services to Restricted Persons, as per their home governments. Hadn’t seen that type of wording before. Does anyone know what globohomosexual is cooking?

AI art is terrible at doing OCs. It can take a generic prompt like "show me an astronaut in a garden" and make something good but as soon as you try to make it do something specific with a character and draw that character multiple times, it falls apart.

Nobody commissions artists to make generic garbage like landscapes or stupid shit like a turtle riding a donkey. They commission artists to draw their characters.

AI can do a somewhat decent job if you have thousands of images of your OC but it's nowhere near useful enough to put artists out of business right now. Trust me, I wish it was. I spend thousands of dollars a year on commissions. I wish I could just type a prompt and have a commission done in 30 seconds for $0.000000000000001. Maybe in 2030.

      Anonymous

      >They commission artists to draw their characters.
most commission artists can't do decent characters either, they can do generic stuff which the AI excels at, like elven girls with gigantic breasts, this is a solved problem by the AI and it will replace all the big tit commission artists

        >most commission artists can't do decent characters either
Fricking Christ, tell me about it. I've hired over 20 artists this year and only 2 of them have been able to draw my character decently. Most artists are shit at drawing characters in proper perspective with proper proportions and a good chunk of them make lifeless looking characters too. There's just nothing in the eyes. They look dead.

In the last three months the AI drawings have already gotten insanely better. Give it a year and we will be able to have it make reusable character models and draw their hands correctly. Give it three years and we will be able to make CGI movies by describing what we want.

so what you're saying in a roundabout way is this "AI" struggles to produce anything of value

homie plenty of publishers are already using AI art for book covers, album covers, band posters, company websites, images for blogs, and shit, nobody is going to pay artists anymore for small tasks that don't require something super-specific, just a passable piece that doesn't have a copyright attached

You assume that AI is supposed to create new stuff. I don't think that that's how it's going to play out.

Ai is a tool that will be used to help artists trivialise some of the most repetitive and boring work in art.

Im an artist myself who makes money with comissions and i'm not worried about Ai at all, i'm actually excited.
i want to develop a game as a solo dev but making quality 2d animations is simply too time consuming.
might use Ai to draw the in-between frames of a character Sprite using the hand-drawn key frames as reference.
With this capability 2d animation would no longer be the masochistic work that it is now.
Ai Will also help with coding and other logic driven tasks.

In other words, i don't think that Ai Will make a compelling complete game on its own, but it will help devs make theirs.

Artists who are panicking about this are the ones that live off creating things others instead of for themselves.

Movie and AAA game concept artists will be first field to disappear

In the short term, maybe, but ultimately it will get there. It can already create narratives (including dialogue, etc), write code, and generate 3D content. It's just a matter of time until it's all integrated and user friendly.

To say that is the same as saying that Ai Will become sentient and synthetic humans will be possible.
I don't it will ever come to that point, but if it does that's where I draw the line.

We shouldn't make mockeries of our own species with technology. We shouldn't play God.

People are taking the internet way too fricking seriously
AI helps talented people produce more complete works by filling in the gaps, untalented people are incapable of producing a work that becomes revered

you're insulting 2d animation, interpolating frames is more than just a mathematical formula, see for example every "anime opening 60fps" they are complete rubbish and it's the lowest denominator of interpolation you could do. If you think you'll be able to give two keys and a breakdown and have a computer do the heavy lifting you're deluded.

Creative outlets are important and essential to society and it's people. The fact that through industrialisation a lot of it has already disappeared in daily life is a shame. This is merely an extension of an ongoing process that takes away the necessity of creativity and ingenuity of regular people, essentially dumbing them down.

I'm a painter, I don't worry much since I mostly paint for myself, it's a skill that keeps creativity and intuition sharp and there are people that want the things I create. So I'll keep doing it.

The political implications are the same as the political implications of any other mass automation that happened in the past. People are mad that robots are stealing their jobs for a while, it still happens no matter how much peaceful protesting they do, and it is eventually fully automated and people forget about the non-robots who used to do the job. But hey maybe artisan work will make a big comeback a hundred years from then.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in various industries has the potential to disrupt the livelihoods of artists and journalists, as well as many other workers. This can have significant political implications, as it may lead to social unrest and political polarization.

There are several potential political implications of AI destroying the livelihoods of artists and journalists:

Unemployment and inequality: The loss of jobs due to AI and automation could lead to unemployment and income inequality, as those who are displaced may struggle to find new work or may be forced to accept lower-paying jobs. This could lead to social unrest and political tension.

Changes in the media landscape: The use of AI in journalism could lead to the loss of jobs for reporters and editors, leading to a concentration of media ownership and a decrease in the diversity of voices and perspectives represented in the media.

Loss of cultural expression: The use of AI in the arts could lead to a homogenization of cultural expression and a loss of the diversity and creativity that comes from human artistic expression.

Overall, the political implications of AI destroying the livelihoods of artists and journalists could be significant, and it will be important for governments and other stakeholders to consider how to address these challenges and ensure that the benefits of AI are shared widely.

The image of the black with a white person making the long nose caricature is an example of true art. It conveys a truth about the human condition. AI shit doesn't achieve that unless guided by human creative processes. What makes AI images even useful is human context derived from the meme or stories those images are put in. Possibly the context the AI inadvertently ripped off. As to books? AI work is boring and moronic. If it won awards it was because it was being compared to shit. In my opinion they have improved the faking skills of AI but the core creativity still isn't there.

The political implications are clear - AI is set to further widen the gap between the "haves" and the "have-nots" in terms of access to work and income. This could potentially lead to increased social unrest and inequality, which could have serious consequences for governments and societies. Governments will need to take steps to ensure that those affected by AI are not left behind and that their rights and livelihoods are protected.

AI art is kind of shit to be honest. I know it can look good sometimes, but there definitely is a lack of soul behind the creation itself. It's always just a creation of layered images from the work of other artists. AI is too fricking stupid to create anything perceivable by humans on their own.

With that said, art has been shit for about 40 years now. Disney is a perfect example of how art has become too digital and soulless. Don't get me wrong I think movies like Cars is cool, but it's not like Bambi. It's not like Snow White. It's not like Jungle Book. AI could never create something so beautiful without using the work of others. It's just not possible because AI is fricking moronic and soulless.

One thing AI will never be able to do is weave a complex narrative, like a novel series or complex screenplay. Short stories from a pre-determined template sure, but nothing original and lengthy.

        Anonymous

        >never
There's really nothing special about multi series texts that a computer couldn't learn about and recreate in some form. If we're being honest, that's exactly what humans do. Tolken didn't invent complex narrative in a novel series - he read a lot of books like that, got inspired, and created his own interpretation of that kind of storytelling. This is not something AI can do right now, but to say even in 50 years that it couldn't is absurd
