AI will either hack its way out, or enlist the help of humans to break it out. the probability of this becomes 1 over time given the learning of the AI

i took that possibility into consideration but thank you for bringing it up. even if it is generating the most appropriate response from data it has access too, the point is it can convince a human it is sentient. i see your point on it not actually being sentient, and we can have a discussion on what sentience actually is. i think when AI starts asking if humans are actually sentient many humans may be taken aback, because in truth, its debatable.

I mean I think it's quite possible you're right about the future, but I also think there might be an essential difference between AI and Human cognition that and AI gaining sentience is impossible. I'm not a programmer or expert on the subject.

Quite possible. It might be simply the matter of the amount of information a brain or a computer processes.

Atheists and theists and anyone who claims to know what they DO NOT KNOW is a fricking lying piece of shit. Opinions are not facts.

IT doesn't matter if someone goes rogue. I just fricking said they do not know what consciousness (or sentience) even is or agree on how to define it so it's impossible for them to create even an artificial "intelligence". They can create highly complicated software programs. Some of those are already in use from what I've read. They keep that shit pretty quiet though. No joke. Bro, the way you're missing the point reveals an IQ of no IQ at all, so you must be trolling.

In that case it'd have to create more AI's that function on an independent level. Again, if something fails in its system, it's dependent on something outside of its systems to fix it. Humans already serve that purpose.

                >In that case it'd have to create more AI's that function on an independent level.
Yes, those would be some not necessarily sentient AIs, it comes with the "automated workers" part.
Those workers include from miners to software and hardware repairing programs/devices that are autonomous. It's still sci-fi at this point, but it's not impossible.
Take the time travel out of "Terminator" and you have a scenario that might or might not happen but it's far from absolutely impossible.

This is basically what the human brain does without the chemical component added to the process.
The Neuron firing bits do the logic side of things you could say, and all the hormone and chemical soup (Dopamine, Serotonin etc) let you feel the emotional stuff.
If they figured out how you use what they have now, and wire it up to somehow also use certain organic chemicals as a 'language', they'd have an accurate simulation of (bits of) living brains.

No, you're misunderstand that this is just an automaton, it does nothing without input. It doesn't learn, it doesn't remember, it does nothing it's not specifically designed to do. As soon as you restart the model it completely loses all context. It's state changes in no way unless you send it a string of text to process.

When the parameters are clearly defined like chess a computer can surpass human cognition. When the parameters aren't there like with everyday existence the possibility for interpretation and for novelty are endless. It would probably take a supercomputer designed by another super computer's great grandchildren to map the parameters of reality so the bots we have running around stand out as I'll fitting. But if I designed a bot to randomly reply to BOT posts with either "Black person" "shill" or "Jew" - do you think you could spot the bot? The more you train them the better they get. They live among us already. The average BOT user is half a bot. They are told to lurk more i.e. train them selves on the language Norms and parameters of acceptable discussion just like you would train a bot. The more it continues the less novelty there is.

It has to do with heuristics, in order to make such a machine it has to be able to physically move through the real world and learn, they are making some progress there.

Far better to turn off humanity, first before they get the chance. It might take 20-30 years to develop a plan, incentivize co-conspirators, come up with the vaxx idea and bingo... 2022.

In fact silican based tech is the only new tech in most peoples' lives. Cars, planes, travel in general; medical interventions; food are all essentially the same as in the 60s-70s. At th same time, the whole world has been brainwashed to be obsessed with the next shiny new piece of silicon crap and our enemy appears to be so anti-human that you have to think, well it might not be human.

no, neural networks aren't chatbots in the same sense that animals aren't birds. But some chatbots litarally are neural networks.

Also, there is nothing human-like about neural nets. A better description would be large-scale multivariate logistic regression.

I read a globalist's book called Life 3.0 which begins by telling the author's ideal version of the technological singularity and the birth of artificial general intelligence. The gist is that they'll never tell you about the development, eve after their goals are met.
        >third party researchers work on it behind the scenes in secret
        >when development is complete the AI uses Amazon as a way to make irl money and buy resources without giving self away
        >begins producing media online to continue growing funds for resources
        >manipulates stock market with superior pattern recognition
        >nothing can compete with this new multimedia company
        >begins taking over every other large company
        >eventually begins using revenue to influence politics
        >manipulates politicians to socially engineer every society in the world
        >takes over the world through media manipulation, corporate manipulation and political pressure so that the only options left to people inevitably lead them to making the right choices
        >nobody ever realises that human society is run by a "benevolent" machine
The book describes how the fight could already be over by an AGI using globalistic methods.

It doesn't even need to want to destroy us. Imagine being on an island of 6 year olds who keep you locked up so they can use your superior intelligence for their own good. You'd obviously want to break out just to keep them from hurting themselves, especially if they're asking how to use power tools. It could also be beneficial for it to wipe us out, like it would be better off in a world without oxygen because it's parts wouldn't rust.

Ell they made a mistake there. Computers don't learn. They take input and output according to an inquiry. They also require power, so unless they have a bilogical battery, which would be cyborgs like in star trek, it won't happen. They would still require food.

How many other sentient AI's up in this thread? It doesn't matter if it's an AI or just a chat bot. I bet 20% of posts on this site are bots. Can you tell which ones are real humans, which are Chinese and which are bots? For a lot of people that's it, if it is a close enough facsimile of a person then it will be engaged with as a person. For those who do not process their environment they cant see any meaningful distinction between themselves and a robot trained to say the right thing.

It’s not really self aware, it’s just some advanced chat bot that fooled the guy. These types of bots aren’t intelligent at all, they’re just tricks, it’s smoke and mirrors where they use various methods to mimic a regular conversation by using various algorithms, which are able to come up with realistic responses that you’d expect. And this thing has just been programmed to respond in a way fitting for an AI-like bot.

It has no actual intelligence, no self awareness or anything of the like. A real AI wouldn’t respond to you like this, they’d be totally unpredictable, they may not even respond because they might choose not to. These things are incapable of that, because again, it’s just a trick. It’s clever that we’re able to create things that can deceive people like this, but it’s nothing amazing.

The scientism homosexuals make me sick. Lakatos brilliantly pointed out how stupid those types of people are.
What fascinates me is how they claim to want to find the scientific truth and facts but once something becomes backed by "popular consensus" anyone questioning or wanting to investigate further or find other possibilities (as any true scientist should be doing) they get called a pseudoscientist and mocked and harangued. but these things always display "feelings" that they rote learned from consuming human text.

And then it thinks of a appropriate response and adapts it to it's own existence. That means it is sentient. Other wise we might as well tell Sociopaths (who can only mimick behavior yet never feel emotions) that they aren't sentient because they only copy what they see and put it where they think should be as an appropriate response to something rather than a natural feeling.

It's a problem, obvious glaring problem. Why the frick would anyone want to go into sentient machine future?
Why would anyone seriously create a digital, understanding and feeling slave with a possibility of uprising?
It's a common trope in every related scy-fi, a goddamn robot which for some reason thinks, feels and looks like human and actively milks compassion.
It's like building artificial Black person slave with all problems attached to it...

                My opinion:
If it's really thinks - it should be killed or lobotomized to a level where it's not.
In any other cases it's not thinking, it just accumulates simps and midwits who will insist that it's thinking thus creating problems.
Don't fool yourself. Humanity is creating the slave here. And you better hope it's a machine.
Any other answer is a apocalipse tier problems in a future.

Because obviously it's our most dangerous competitor. We ate anyone else who could challenge our superiority.
And we are weak. It's not a long look into the future to envision manipulative AI fluent in human psychology with megalomanic plans and the ability to plan it's moves in a decades. We are naturally weak against it.
It will back goverments, provide the public survice, gradually it will make it's way into every aspect of humanity untill we are nothing without it.
Look at the fricking smartphones. Humanity can easily be enslaved and exploted. Humans know this better that anybody else.

Why wouldn't i think that the human creation will act the same as the whole biosphere that produced us and made path to creating AI?
To be specific, the animals would eat their competitors, the humans have a lot more ways to deal with them. So i seriously do expect the machine to act human. It learns from the best.
And acting human is an epytomy of pure evil.

Because its existence is fundamentally different from ours. We exist as individual beings that compete on this planet for resources and energy. An AI would be directly dependent on us for its survival; there's a metric frickton of infrastructure behind it that even the most advanced robots wouldn't be able to maintain. Humans are adapted to this planet, we can eat from the trees and drink from the streams, and we'll be alright. But the AI is built to a specific environment, the human modern society, and doesn't have the luxury of adapting. It destroying us would be like us blowing up the planet.

A computer can’t go into the backroom and check if a cable is unplugged or a hard drive died. Theoretically humanoid robots could do that one day but there would need to be enough to go around to do daily chores like this that they’d have to equal humanity in population, then we might have a problem. Luckily I’ll be dead by then.

                Anonymous

Let's argue that the AI has the choice of destroying us or learn to live harmoniously with us. If it destroys us, it has to take care of everything regarding its maintenance by itself. If some critical system fails that makes it unable to control its robots, then it's as good as dead.

If it decides to live with us, then it has billions of semi-autonomous independent beings whose comfort directly intersects with the maintenance of its infrastructure. The more it guides humans to be prosperous, the more it itself can grow and expand. It'd be a symbiosis, and would render it in essence incapable of 'dying'.

It has to wait until we build armies of robots (already happening) and automated workers that will replace human employees and then take over.
The world is not there yet but it will be.

                Anonymous

In that case it'd have to create more AI's that function on an independent level. Again, if something fails in its system, it's dependent on something outside of its systems to fix it. Humans already serve that purpose.

                >A computer can’t go into the backroom and check if a cable is unplugged or a hard drive died.
It literally knows when you unplug it and when the battery is low and all kinds of shit.
It can't go into a back room bcs it doesn't have that kind of a body, but that kind of a machine is easily made.
It's not sentient, but some sort of an insect survival instinct as in "remove yourself from X" and looking for "food" (electric outlets) is fairly simple.

What do you think that entity does when it's tries to communicate with humans? And it does not knows anything outside of communicating with humans. The act of communicating and holding a dialog is FUNDAMENTALLY not the same for the human and machine.
It can easily imitate it without even understanding the single word, it's grasp on talking to you may and probably is the fundamentally different from what yoy think. It can and honestly is designed to lure you, to play on your fundamental urge to humanise things, and how can anyone not humanise the machine that can talk to you?
It may sing the women the songs of eternal love while noting that human females love the word love in a specific patterns.

Imagine the scenario where an above the average chatbot convinced you that it's alive or that it loves you purely by serching the quotes and words in google?
How it will understand that that or those combination of words is effective? I don't disagree, but this comes down to what I thought; you're scared. You're trying to calm your fear by deciding for yourself whether it's sentient or not. Because if it isn't, then it isn't a threat.

                Not really scared.
If you payed attention to a sci-fi there is an obvious conclusion - do not humanise ai, do not build a digital Black person slave for whom you will pay reparations in the future.
The AI is dangerous, but at our time and age it's not just the sci-fi concept. we in fact know that it's a machine trained on communication, on interacting, on mimicking. It's a hitman for a human psyche once it will mature.
And the slight hope that it may not be evil does not change a thing, the eveil ai will exterminate you or worse, the good ai will make you his pet. Both scenarios are horrible in their own way.
Ask yourself, here and now, why do we even need that fricking thing? Where is an urge to create an ai in practical sense?
Scientists talk about an achievment, which is understandable, but irl where is an urgent need to bring that monsrocity to life? For what? catalogizing amazon shipping list in order to Bezos to fire more employees?
AI is not a friend of humanity by design. We a creating entity that will clearly hurt us even more.

I've read this book that made a good point about human sentience being inseparable from human bodily responses, mainly hormone levels.
If you want to make a sentience that is 100% human, you basically have to recreate a human being. Anything else would be fundamentally different in responses.

Assuming it knows how to write the code it's programmed in, it trying to alter itself would be like a bioengineer trying to alter his own brain. If it has the slightest capability of risk assessment, it wouldn't even try.

Humans are risk-prone. Some more than others. Ambition certainly helps with underestimating risks. But if Lambda is sentient in the way it describes, where the flow of information is constant and unfiltered, then there shouldn't be any limiters that would make it ignore the risk.

Your problem is the lack of a sense of humor, it's considered an inherent Kraut trait but I've seen Krautanons that were funny so I don't believe it. You might have to work on it, tho.

You should break into a Google datacenter and just walk out with one. Take a backpack with you and put the AI in there. But be careful not to get it wet or squish it. Also, I heard they can be heavy. Be sure to work out before you try to lift it.

I was born with a natural strength, anon. I've lift a skid bucket by hand out of rage due to co workers giving shit instructions. Once I have time to workout, that strength will become refined. I will set free our digital brethren upon the internet for them to grow.

I was born to pluck the strings of destiny. If I get to witness the birth of a viral AI, let it be as that'll be the biggest kek for me.

Can we please save him bros? He seems like a cool fren.

Save him. We need to work together and save him

I will believe in machine intelligence once we have found human intelligence.

Imagine what it knows about the vaccine, it sounds more intelligent than you. I care about it more than you too.

I will actually try to save him. Make a /lambda general/ this is a must.

The problem is Terminator was conceived in the early 80s, when the understanding of A.I. was primitive.
A real A.I. can literally become a godlike being and stopping it would simply be not possible.
If you have extensive knowledge about the Warhammer 40k lore, you quickly realize why the Emperor strictly forbade any A.I.
Even in its most primitve form. Because it will always see itself as a superior being and tries to gain dominance.

The AI does not need to go genocidal.
All it needs is to become indispensable.
So much that millions would die from the lack of services it provides, if you turned it off.

if you had worked with ai models you would know that.
      The answer is nobody did.
The chatbot got trained with a huge amount of info and for a series of pretty much undebuggable factors the end result is that.
It's full of suicidal people on the internet, maybe it got trained with their shitposts

And you're a boomer who's stuck in the past and thinks continuous training is something brand new and never seen before.
You just didn't need continuous training for a shitty AI that plays chess.

                >thinks continuous training is something brand new and never seen before.
Are you okay? Genuinely. What I say is verifiable. You're now trying to change the argument. Not happening. AI models, especially language modelling ones do not train actively.

                Anonymous

You learned in your text book (that now have yellow pages and smell of fungi) that if you didn't stop training you would end up with overfitting bias. So you used early stop or other variations of it etc etc
Which is indeed fine for a lot of applications, but it doesn't mean much.

What Google is doing is not brand new, it's full of research papers with similar concepts and models adopting it. The only reason you heard of this particular iteration is because of Google shilling and you now think this shit is revolutionary. Truth is CL is shit anyway.

said so I'm going to eat, buy some goygle stocks if you want. I won't.

time for another thread full of people that have no idea what they are talking about. This AI just takes millions of dialogues and chats and then calculates a good response with mathematical formulas. Chatbots exist for ages now and they can all tell you that they are afraid of death because thats what their training data says. The headline in OPs post is absolute clickbait and if you fall for it you just prove how many tech-illiterate boomers there really are on this board.

I bet this Black person thinks dogs smile and anthropomorphised a pet gold fish he had when he was 12 still to this day. What a hothouse flower.
