It is an amazing tool that will accelarate the creative process on the hands of skilled people. There will be less jobs as sketch artist and similar jobs wich will be replaced by an ai prompt artist. But something simillar always happens when a new great tool show up (Example.: the job changes between the industrial revolutions). Modern artists will just have to adapt.

Also based meme, boobs are great and so is money.

      >ai prompt artist.
This makes no sense. Typing a sentence isn't a skill. The actual artist could write the prompt before they use the concept for a real piece of art

        >Typing a sentence isn't a skill.
You can always tell when you're dealing with an inkcel because they think doodling on a PC is the One True Artform and are quick to throw basically every other artistic medium (writing, music, collage, sculpture etc.) under the bus.

AI art is for porn and proof of concepts. It can only ever be used for porn arts and proof of concepts art.

Not skilled enough to make something on your own?
AI is pretty nice training wheels tbh.

It borrows a composite style of many artists in one
And then I can be inspired by THAT and make my own painting based on one an AI showed me, which my AI made based on a text prompt.

    Which is pretty based.

I don't think this will change anything.
AI art isn't a big deal.

People kinda know what art is an artists product and what is AI made already. This discussion won't take away from what people value in art.

    It's almost a non issue.

I wonder how people felt about PicsArt filters turning shit into drawings and paintings.
And if it stopped people from drawing or painting...

    ...they didn't
.... Ppl will keep making art the way they want to make art

      Anonymous

Its only issue because it is still in its infancy. It is already passing the Turing test from time to time depending on if the prompter tries to make it look like AI or if he tries to make it look like something made by some artist. There is already Niji Journey beta being developed, which can do shitty lineart and pretty good dynamic poses.

I truly hope your predictions will be true unlike mine and that it will take very long time before it moves from diffusion 2D models into some other stuff like 3D or brand new 2D models that dont work the same way the current models do. Even if AI art at this current state becomes completely unrecognizable, then all it would mean is doom for artists who make random pinups of whatever they have on mind, and most of them would flee into make webcomics and funnily enough conceptart and fanart. Both comics and conceptart require you to repeat consistent design, just like fanart and conceptart. AI cant do any of those yet, there is dreambooth, but that one sucks a lot at what it is doing. Further, the idea of using your art to train the model and work alongside you only works in universe where we somehow extend copyright laws on machine learning as well as invent some sort of artstyle copyright to make artstyle training set distribution harder. And for those of you who think SD 2.0 is still good without copyright data are dead wrong, it still contains copyright data, just few artists who opted out were removed, thats it.

Also, I am not an artist btw, or BOTgay, I am just a turist talking about AI news

I would say AI is already there, I can get some great results with an RTX 2080, the old leaked NovelAI model (or the chink one, but that one does not like porn) and Hypernetwork.

Main limiting factor is GPU for now, but something as good as a 3090 should be enough to train up some existing models for whatever niche you need, but my 2080 can only train for example on a 512 squared image.

By already there you mean you can larp as real artists? Or just that it can make good fap material for basic normies? Commission artists will stay, just get little bit less commissions thanks to AI being unable to do autistic OCs (most furry OCs). Normies also dont prefer AI over people no matter how much BOTners try to underestimate their standards of just eating whatever picture looks nice. AI was able to do nice pictures for long time, but it was still clear it was made by AI.

By old leaked NovelAI models you mean like it is able to pass as real art where you can post it, not tag it AI and nobody will bet an eye?

            >By already there you mean you can larp as real artists? Or just that it can make good fap material for basic normies?
I by this I mean close to not being able to tell it was AI generated. AI art is more science than actual art.

            >By old leaked NovelAI models you mean like it is able to pass as real art where you can post it, not tag it AI and nobody will bet an eye?
The old NovelAI model is kinda shit, compared to what they have now on the paid website. I have a decent eye for seeing the AI generated quirks, and there have started to be enough images on pixiv that did not give me much hints they were NovelAI generated, and when I used the same prompts and seed in the old leaked model, results were abysmal.

Anything-V3, which is a chink fork on the leaked model, is much harder to figure if it was AI generated image, and much higher quality.

The AI models are getting quite good, quite fast, and I am sure, soon it will be able to replace any non great and unique artist.

            >AI was able to do nice pictures for long time, but it was still clear it was made by AI.
I would say it less than one year since it can do nice pictures.

Both sides of this recent debacle are dumb as hell sometimes thinking one is better than the other or whatever.
AI generated art is a fantastic tool that has its place but will not replace or otherwise match the same needs, not quality but needs of the human made art.

Even if the end output is pretty good, it’s a generalization, not a realization of an idea. When an artist creates something they see in their head they’re trying to recreate what they thought up as close as possible.
A prompt to generate an image is the equivalent for people who can’t visualize that in their head, they know a very rough idea of what they want and a computer handles the rest.
It’s a sharp idea versus a fuzzy idea.

There are already people using AI art in great ways, mainly to come up with alternative ideas they did not think of. That’s where I think it’s power lies, you as an artist may have a concept in your head you can try to realize, but what if you simplify your concept and let a computer come up with alternatives you can build off of?

      >When an artist creates something they see in their head they’re trying to recreate what they thought up as close as possible.
I'm not convinced this is true at all, at least not for every artist. Why can't a significant amount of the artistry be in the small perturbations that happen moment to moment as one is creating?

Complete indifference and an old idea made possible with the massive surplus of computing resources in non-HPC environments.
It will at best, just marginalized digital art to be ultra-ubiquitous and reduce the need for dedicated digital artists on projects. At worst, it will be use as a vehicle for certain parties to wrestle more control and rights from the unwashed masses in the name of "Intellectual property rights". They will be the only authorized party to use such tools and it will barred with massive paywalls.

Most of the reddit behaivour mocked on this site and rest of internet comes from Reddit banning certain political circlejerks while leaving other political circlejerks going. This certainly wasn't true of reddit back in the day, like 10+ years ago. It definitely had a hivemind back then. Reddit used to have the same kind of obnoxious tech hipster hivemind that Hacker News has today, but far far worse. They also used to take memes from BOT, and make really shitty knock-offs. I think a lot of hate anons have for reddit today is leftover from back then. Today, reddit is for the most part indistinguishable from Facebook and Twitter.
