If you are the first two you can easily pickup ai and incorporate it in your workflow.

If you're an artist it's much harder to incorporate into your workflow, unless it's spoon fed to you in a software application.

Just wait until it becomes more accessible and mainstream and artists will come around. The issue is they feel like they are gate kept as it takes tech savy to get started with AI art. When people gate keep you, it does make it feel like the gate keeper is cheating or shady.

Obviously no one is actually doing the gate keeping, it's just not as accessible and easy for artists yet so they feel that way.

    Many artists aren't tech savy.

The only artists that cry about AIs/MLs are not making real art.
Large overwhelming majority of these "artists" are actually taking commissions to draw hentai art or random pics of someone's ingame characters and other shit.
They seethe about it because most people paying for such commissions pay for the service of having their specific "prompts" visualized, which MLs/AIs are perfectly capable of doing.
Hilariously enough, most of these artists aren't even that great and most morons pay dozens if not hundreds of dollars for subpar creations which even the current AI generation can completely blow out of the water.
If you're a real, professional artist, you've nothing to fear and these people don't even care really.
If you're a well known, competent and actually decent artist, you also have nothing to fear. At the very least for medium term of several years.
If you're just a random artist that takes commissions for 20-100$ bucks, which make up the overwhelming majority of modern "artists", yes, these morons will lose most of their paypigs the second AI generation enters mainstream, as in it will become easy enough for even an average Joe to download it, write something like "big boobs spread legs hatsune miku sucking a e-girlpop" and get what they want.

Nail on head. Garden variety art workers churned out by trade schools reasonably feel threatened, as much as code monkeys are. They know.

The difference is that the ai models can produce both highly skilled art and low skilled art, while ai can only produce moron code at this point. No artist is safe, especially the professional ones

The "highly skilled" AI art being created right now is the result of substantial inpainting and retouching. You could just as well generate a program with Chat-GPT and then completely refactor it by hand to make it work.

You don't get the point he's making you brainlet, real artists are more than just prompt drawers for coomer/fanart commissions. Unlike what fellow moron

AI art blew up overnight basically. Works worth 10k and taking so much talent and hard effort can be replicated in seconds by AI. Masters of old whose craft was so valuable, that people teach about it in history classes is now replaceable by algorithm looking for patterns in noise. This is why artists are also mad. Work that had insanely high value is now being done by robot, seemingly out of nowhere.

said, there are 0 "masters" that exist right now whose livelihoods are threatened by prompt generated AI art. Think about WHY certain types of artists are the only creative content makers chimping out. It's because the work they make is fundamentally the least complicated conceptually compared to writing code or even a short story. This short lived amateur art industry was doomed from the get go, it already existed as a parasite leeching off the intellectual property of bigger IPs for the most part, and many of the artists straight up traced or photobashed their content to keep up with comissions, which is what AI does anyway.
Real artists have nothing to fear, as anyone who is a student of art history knows that conceptual art has long surpassed art that is hyperfocused on raw technical excellence.
All the products we buy that are perfectly crafted with highly elaborate engravings and shapes came at the cost of invalidating artisans who used to spend their whole lives to perfect their work. Does anyone think we should get rid of machines and factories? No, and neither should we care about the amateur commission artists.

I think it's mostly that programmers and scientists already have good metrics for sorting good results from bad, so they're not really feeling threatened because it's trivial for anyone experienced in those fields to see that AI has a long way to go before its anything resembling a threat to their job security.

Meanwhile, artists have been spending decades, even centuries pushing the criteria for judging art further and further away from what's immediately obvious to the layperson, so random gays on sumerian llama juggling forums are more likely to make declarations like "it's over, human art is dead," and more likely to accuse experts in the field of damage control when they point out how far AI still has to go to match a skilled human artist.

Just look at how many people accuse programmers of coping and seething for pointing out that ChatGPT is actually terrible at programming, when proving it is as simple as attempting to run the AI generated code.

I have seen thousands of images made with stable diffusion. They lack detail and have a bias towards certain poses and compositions (object not centered, blurry background). I think that with one or two more iterations the images will look indistinguishable from real images.

Sure, and maybe GPT-4 will be decent at programming. But in their current state, the best AIs output garbage that looks like code, and garbage that looks like art. Obviously, it doesn't matter how much garbage code looks like code if it doesn't compile, but it's more of a problem when garbage art looks like art. Obviously it's going to be threatening to artists when it has brain damaged normies questioning whether artists should even exist even when the "replacement" is so obviously deficient.

There is literally a class action lawsuits filed by open source programmer and only open source programmer right now because they feel threatened by AI that can code. Don't cope about it

There's a class action lawsuit because Microsoft ignored the license on open source software when training CoPilot and open source losers go to sleep dreaming of getting to sue Microsoft for license violation.

Copilot is a paid program and no one outside of microsoft knows how it works. For all we know it searches github and pastes code without respecting licensing. Its a different situation entirely. No one is suing over chatgpt even though it can also produce code.

Researchers get free grant money. Programmers get paid for doing actual work. Artists live off social status and an AI creating works that are liked more than their own means they're irrelevant.

No, what OP says is exactly how people around me reacted to the paper generator bots. One of the first things we did with it was use it to fix garbled ESL nonsense written by a low performing tard at our institute and send it back to him.

    Programmer:
    >AI can do simple code?
    >Panic little that juniors get fricked over, since to even prompt the AI you need meticulous knowledge of computer science
    >Stop worrying since it turns out to make garbage code
    Scientist:
    >AI can do 90% of my work?
    >Awesome, let’s produce ten times the amount of research since science has endless demand unlike other jobs revolving around making products and services
    Artist:
    >AI can do stuff I tell it to?
    >Cool, I could you it to make backgrounds, probably not
    >What? It can do the entire picture if you just tell it to? We’ll I will not really use it since I imagined the picture slightly differently in my head
    >What? It can make the whole picture and make it better looking then I do? It can run on any device and takes few seconds to make the picture? But this thing does 100% of my job. And I can’t really compete since the demand and market are limited
    >AI fricked me over
AI is real threat only to artists here. Scientists have infinite demand and are not paid for selling competing research with limited demand. Grants will give them money regardless of how much research they produce. Plus 40 times more research is always good

Programmers have been automated like 5 times now by making the bottom line easier or automated, so higher skilled programmers can move up the ladder. There are also ladders in art as well where artist can move from 2D to animation to then movies, but in case of programmers the highest tier of the ladder is AI research itself, which is basically the AI endgame. Once programmers are fully automated, then everything will soon follow as AI will then create other AI to do all the jobs not automated yet.

Artgays are the only ones here at risk. Artgays didn’t care about AI replacing them until recently when it proved it absolutely can 100% replace them soon. There are already models for shitty video, shitty 3D, shitty writings shitty music and good images. Moving up is not an option.

The problem with AI art is that its a positive feed back control system. If everyone uses AI art without new innovation, all the art in the world will start to look like AI when it reaches equilibrium

artists are justifiably insecure as their work requires incredible amounts of time and effort and hardly provides any value, they are being directly replaced
