well for one, it's not version-controlled... well it kind of is, because it's being synced to a btrfs volume that gets regular snapshots
you can configure syncthing shares so they're updated on a timer instead of actively monitoring for changes, for something like this where i don't need it to be instant, setting it to an hour is fine
i don't sync the system volume because this is android, the system volume is basically read-only, it's the "rom", there's no reason to back it up
no, i'm only backing up the "internal storage" volume, user data. notably i'm not backing up /data either, which is where applications store their data, i can use oandbackup to make copies of app data into the user data volume. i'm not sure you even can just copy stuff from /data directly to another phone, due to things like uid/gid being different, it would be more work to do that than just using oandbackup
