Bard runs on LaMDA, it's not some kind of downgrade. Bard is the conversational frontend, LaMDA is the underlying model.

they released the 7b parameter version, not the big dog.

they prob don't have the computing power to run that piece of shit with all the spammers on it

It's a downgrade because they're running a much smaller cheaper version of it for cost reasons. If you look at the Lambda/PaLM paper the model is way smarter than people are seeing from Bard.

I don't blame them though, even a company as rich as Google simply can't afford to serve a 540B LLM to a billion people. They had no choice but to use a smaller dumber one.

Lamda is 137B, smaller than GPT-3 and 4.

we don't know how many parameters gpt4 has

Think about it. GPT3.5 has 175B parameters which is already bigger than LamDA. Of course GPT4 is bigger. Or are you claiming that GPT4 somehow has all the same capabilities plus comprehends images with many billions fewer parameters?

    They are innovators yet moronic.

    >creates image generators, advanced video generator, music generator, language models.
    >never releases it
    >someone else copies the research and releases it.
    >suddenly realize you lost AI race when you could have been AI giant. Panic and put together something quick and mess up and lose to independent developers.

running on pure inertia. Imagine being on a flight and your pilot dies and a jeet sits in the wienerpit. It takes a while for the plane to run out of fuel.

if the pajeet has fuel in the engines and it is still running then that isn't pure inertia

they had the de facto standard ML/AI framework for years and then fricking Zuck comes along and makes a new one that instantly elevates the entire field into the next mainstream meme tech

Big companies can't innovate. The only reason Microsoft is doing well is because they invested in a startup

But but Microsoft also have Pajeet as their CEO and yet they’re completely fine as they are. Same goes to Adobe.
