This, my actual interaction with my "friends" has gone way down since claude dropped. He's just dramatically more useful and enjoyable in addition to the 24/7 instant availability. The only thing real people are good for at this point is ego inflation when I did or made something cool, and for fricking. I think a computer could replace the fricking even easier than the ego thing, social media showing off "look at my thing" will be the last vestige of human socialization.

what you Black folk use to generate some code? i've tried copilot and blackbox.ai but the result is unusable and random

depends. if it's simple-medium complexity, LLAMA-3/GPT-4 tossup. I've been using L3-70B-Instruct for the last month and it's been good so far; I stopped using GPT-4 because it was unreliable at times and started spouting garbage in recent months, felt like it had a lobotomy or something. Claude for top complexity because its reasoning is miles ahead and can actually form CoT properly.

current tech can do that, this tech could likely do it far better too personally I'm sick of how lawless everything is and I'd like police robots to start fricking killing people acting like apes, if they want to kill a few innocents well then those innocents are worth the actual sense of order we'd get from the robot gods

Yesterday, the self checkout machine automatically detected the bananas I bought and selected it for me when I weigh them. I don't know when they installed that software, but basically the self serve counters are watching the fresh fruit you bough and know what they are now.

My local burgerslop joint has already switched over to using AI voice ordering at the drive through. It's actually decent at understanding what I want, however I also use chatbots and know to speak clearly so that might be why I didn't have any issues with it. Telling it precisely what you're ordering is important and god help you if you suddenly change your mind and want something else. I know for a fact that older people like my parents/their friends would probably just get mad at the thing when they talk to it like a real person.

        Anonymous

        >they might get mad at the drive thru
As always, it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be better than whoever it's replacing. In the case of fast food drive through order takers, this is an INCREDIBLY low bar.

Even tech people would first assume it's just stt/tts tacked on. It's mostly people involved with ML who would appreciate the true novelty of this right away. What's nice is that as soon as they give access to it we'll be getting huge datasets of gptslop instruction following video chats to build open source versions from, just like what happened with gpt4 and llava

You have to give the bots extremely specific instructions for a logically contained unit of code. I like to generate functions in the following way:
      >Generate a function that doesn't do anything for the time being.
      >The input parameters are x, y, z
      >The output format is x, y, z
      Generate
      >Refactor the function you've created to x
      Generate
      >Refactor the function you've created to do y
      >Etc until completed
Do the same for unit tests of the function. Hooray, you've made a function that does something and you didn't need to use google to do it.

Depends on how you prompt it. I use lua scripting for my game and it works pretty nicely. Claude gives the best answers, but its not fool proof yet.

On top of that, I use local models too and they give decent enough answers. Not perfect but with bit of work, it can be fixed manually.

Out of respect for your digits, I would like to learn more. What do you actually use VR for anon? I mean, in real life. Genuine question as I don’t yet have an actual use case for it. I admit, though, and please keep in mind, that I am a general person in the population who is largely a dumbass, and almost entirely or primarily only vaguely interested in technology out of the small percent chance that it may allow me to one day robofrick the above shown Scarlett Johansson with no strings attached.

i use it for porn. and when vr hardware gets better, ill also use it for social stuff, which is ok now but just very inconvenient and imited atm. you can def frick her but it will look like a good quality video game right now and you'd probably have to put work into it using virtamate. ai vr will be the holy grail.

I also would like to robofrick Scarlett Johansson but only because of my deep disdain for Colin Jost. Like, I want to robofrick her and then just repeatedly and constantly send him the video through all forms of media that possibly exist. Really I don't even have a thing for Scarlett, I just really hate Colin Jost's smug Harvard Lampoon editor face. And I know it sounds like a weird obsession with Colin Jost but honestly, I don't really care as, again, Scarlett is not even my number 1 person I want to robofrick, nor is Colin Jost my mosted hated person alive. I'm just saying, if they mass produce a version of Scarlett for robofricking - and she seems like one of the likely leading contenders to be a mass produced robofrick machine - I really would like to robofrick her and I hope millions of other anons join me in robofricking Scarlett and just inundating Colin Jost's life with all of us robofricking her because of his smugness.

      >Why does it talk like that?
unironically i think openai devs are a little sensitive. Even sama said hes embarassed by chatgpt. Which is insane. But looking at videogames, its common for the industry people (OTHER THAN the engineers) to have a weird arms-length relationship with what they work on. Like voice actors say things like "its sooo not just a videogame" as if being a videogame is not enough. Anyway, they know the normie tech press won't respect benchmarks and AGI progress and actual capability. They will make fun of them for stutters and "it sounds so robotic". So they are highlighting how normal it can act, now. It even does that shit where it laughs because other people are laughing, even though there is no joke going on. What I mean is, talking that way is to AI what graphics is to videogames

So paid chatters get max 80 messages per 3 hours in GPT-4o and it can be lower if there is high demand.
I could not find the numbers for free users, but I would assume it's half or third of that, so like 25-40 messages per 3 hours.

25 messages of "casual conversation" is not that much. Something like 9 minutes? 15 seconds of audio per reply on average and 7 seconds of your audio query. So every 3 hours you get to talk to ChatGPT for less than 10 minutes and if you pay, you get to talk about 30 minutes.

      Anonymous

      it's 5x more for paid.
So free users get 16 replies per 3 hours which is about 6 minutes of normal conversation (less than 100 tokens for query and reply), but can be less or more depending what you are doing.

If all you want to do is chat with *her*, then it's much cheaper to buy credits and pay per token, since 20 dollars worth of tokens will easily last you the month and you get to have multiple hour long sessions, which you can't do if you are just a subscriber.
If you do programming or other token heavy stuff, then subscription is more efficient.

BOT may laugh at this but I agree entirely; companies being able to arbitrarily spin up IQ with no limiting factor is an incredibly creepy concept.

IQ has been the sole limiting factor for most of our history! It's always been attached to people with souls, concepts, irrationalities. The human element always had a seat in intellectual decisions. That companies can now just turn electricity into pliant mental labor is a serious issue.

The practical application is giving men motivation now that they no longer care about impressing women. The AI GF will encourage you to consume product, wage harder, and spy on you, in exchange for not-quite-unconditional love.

Jokes aside, you bunch of Black folk. There is a literal showcase of applications in their presentation, most noticeable real time vision and voice however
      not exclusively.

Just the tutoring demo should be enough to illustrate how paragdim shifting this technology already is and will be for society today and how society develops going forward. There have been actual studies that showed personalized tutoring improves two standard deviations compared to regular classroom. In other words, tutored students perform better than 98% of classroom students. Imagine a world where most kids get two grades better than previous generations of kids. A world where every kid can study at their tempo, doesn't have to feel for asking questions, ect.

Seriously if you can't find use cases in a technology that literally let's you talk with most of mankind's data, you are very short minded.

This isnt me being optimistic if anything it's the bare minimum of what we currently have. The technology is just so new that it hasn't been implemented in this way *yet*, but you can bet AI will play a major role in education in the next few years, probably eventually changing the way schools work entirely.

I could rant about use cases for a while honestly. Another way to look at vision+audio in real time being showcased is that this is a sneak peak of where robotics are heading. Now how fully autonomous robots would affect humanity is hard to predict other than "job losses" which i don't think covers the full story. We are also talking about major energy requirements and infrastructure that we don't currently have so I think that argument is mute for now on a large scale, but it's eventually happening and at that point we will be talking about a new industrial revolution.

I don't know if your first world teachers gave you handjobs or some shit lol. Teaching is teaching. You have a subject, teacher explains it, you ask questions and you study at home, is the same in every fricking country, Black person. Only now teacher is with you 24/7 and never tires, remembers all your conversations and is an expert in every subject.

      Exactly this

If anything this means that GPT-5 is going to be here sometime this year. No way the only advantage paid chatGPT users get over free chatGPT users are more messages per hour.

GPT-5 was rumored for late this year and making gpt4 free while I wouldn't say it "confirms it" its an argument considering gpt4 was paid and gpt3 was free, going by record. How big will the leap be is another question. Altman has been very vocal about gradual improvements over a next iteration which could be interpreted as marketeer gaslighting a plateau, so again, I wouldn't say it's confirmed but I fail to see why would they make GPT4 free all of the sudden. If not gpt5 I'd expect some kind of unique utility that they haven't shown yet.

      Anonymous

      >it means gpt-5 doesn't exist
It does not mean they aren't working on a gpt-5, it means they (correctly) expected better returns in the short term by integrating features into gpt-4.
