The joy of learning
a job so i can escape neetdom
I have nothing else to do with my life.
I just thought it was fun.
Then I got a software job. Now I program a lot less.
Basically C to understand *nix source files better.
Python because idk, it’s like the The higher level C-implementation to know, or something.
It’s been slow goin 🙁
because i like it
whats causing you to slow down? also if i were you id learn C, C++, and a scripting language. python would suffice but personally i think lua would work better because of how easily and nicely it combines with C and C++.
I just want to see if programming can give me back the sense of wonder I had when using my C64 as a kid.
I've always liked tearing things apart and trying to figure out how they work on the inside, so I thought learning how computers would be a fun task. Then I learned 99% of the resources that come up when you look into it are a pipeline for building MVC web applications in high level scripting languages, mostly Python, and the whole community constantly warns you that anything deeper than that is too hard and not worth it.
I got so mad at how resource hungry everything is for no real reason that im set to optimize shit. It isnt going to be fun, but my anger motivates me.
nice anon, that's a good reason
By the way: I'm not sure how rollercoasters are supposed to work exactly, but wouldnt those people fly away? What's holding them down?
Maybe it's just not an extreme rollercoaster. When I was a kid, I went to one that just have these bars to hold on to, if I remember right.
To break into pedophiles phones and destroy their lives.
Used to love modding videogames. Modifying data so I get an unfair disadvantage against the computer. My last game I modded was to remod the mod that makes medieval2 into the lotr world. Shit was cash being able to conquer human and elven nation then having a slave version of their cool units. Even added a short slavery mechanic where I enslave the denizens like in rome total war. I was adding bathhouses and brothels + added ancillary for my orc generals where they get access to slaves retinue. I was in the process to adding the princess mechanic and making her into a slave agent, for example if I beat the wood elves I would have a galadriel slave agent that gives my generals and towns buffs. I can also sell her off to other factions with a negotiation weight of 600k gold. Each enslaved pricess/queen has her own value. But I can’t make the pricess mechanic work smoothly so I gave up. Now I make character AIs instead.
When I was in high school, my computer science teacher used to mock me by calling me a "hacker" because I could barely log in to windows 7 PC. That day I promised myself that I will become a real one . After all those years I think that I am way more tech savvy than I originally was, but I still dont have the nerves to call myself a real hacker.
I want to bring my dead cousin back to life
Already have a gf but I'm also learning programming to make Vidya, although I'm mainly learning to get a job but business tier programming seems like hell.
It's at the intersection of everything I want to do and learn.
Short term - money.
Medium term - learning about all types of information processing, intelligence in general.
Long term - working on transhumanist brain chips.
Learning to automate my job.
I just wanted to make games. Now I want to make my own programming language & my own OS
A job so i can support myself and my gf
YOU CAN'T JUST **LEARN** THINGS
