no. he was just some daimyos pet that he dressed up and paraded around like a "real samurai" because it was funny.
they taught him wrong on purpose and made him fight the most moronic people in japan for entertainment.

chief the author of the article is black and isn't looking for intellectual honesty. They are look for an excuse to justify cultural vandalism by sighting one example of a black man in 1580's japan.

these dumb articles never mention how he met the emperor of japan because the emperor had heard of a man that had been cruelly pranked by youths and dipped into ink until turned black, and he demanded the black man brought to his palace to be scrubbed and cleaned. it took him a while to realize he was just a Black person, and he mostly made him a samurai because he was an amusing novelty and he frightened the other samurai due to his odd appearance

It would probably be rumored that the emperor had a demon as his bodyguard.

The samurai were a social class. Just because you put someone in Japanese cloths and make them a retainer doesn't mean they were samurai.

Supposedly, Nobunaga did look into getting him his own castle so he'd able to officially gain the samurai title. From the few reports we have about the guy, Nobunaga treated him like Paris Hilton treats her dog. He thought having a giant terrifying demon-man following him around was the coolest thing ever and gave his favorite pet every luxury possible.

But yeah, he probably didn't actually fight, despite Nobunaga hiring him a sword instructor.

Another note for those who aren't weeaboo: Nobunaga was REALLY into that sort of thing. He was the kind of guy who gave himself an over-the-top title like "Demon King of the Sixth Heaven" and one time he did a public sake drinking display using the skulls of his former enemies as cups. That's the reason Nobunaga was so enthralled with the concept of having a monster serving him. He just fricking loved having all of Japan think of him as a demon king.

Revisionism. He was probably so vile and violent that he could only be drawn as a demon and black is what they went with. By that logic like a quarter of deities in Buddhism are Black folk because they’re drawn in black.

I'm so sick of hearing about Yasuke.
He was the equivalent of an English teacher. Something you keep in the room as a talking piece. It has no real value.

Long story short: "Yasuke" was completely unimportant and returned to the Portuguese. He did nothing of importance and wasn't achieving anything other than showing the next Shogun, Hideyoshi, that those people the Portuguese had on their ships with black skin aren't important. When the Portuguese took him again and shipped him away, that was it, the whole story of "Yasuke".

But, the white Samurai, William Anjin, was the complete opposite of "Yasuke". While "Yasuke" was just a short term visitor with no impact on Japan, William Anjin, the white Samurai changed Japan forever.

The best part was when the white Samurai stranded on Japan and the Portuguese enraged said that the Shogun should kill him. The Shogun on the other hand was surprised when the first white person with blond hair and blue eyes he saw looked at the Portuguese and wanted to slaughter them and called them heretics.

The Shogun was surprised because the Portuguese, as the lying bastards they were, said that ALL the Western world would look like him and believe in their faith. When the Japanese Shogun Tokugawa saw a person who looked completely different and was aggressive against the Portuguese and insulted the Portuguese, who pretended that they were some kind of untouchable gods in the West, the Shogun instantly protected the new white skinned arrival.

While "Yasuke" was just refunded and left Japan, the white Samurai, a Dutch, got the Shogun to expelled all Portuguese and Christians, and also secluded Japan from the rest of the world, while only China and Dutch were allowed to trade with Japan.

One evening, the Dutch said to the Shogun "I have to leave. My wife and family are missing me".
The Shogun looked him in the eyes, pointed at a cute Japanese waifu with cute feet and said "If you stay, this woman is your new wife and you will be Japanese".
On this offer, the white samurai bowed and simply replied "それなら我は日本の白い侍でござる" and kissed his waifu

No, he was a slave that was sold to a wealthy Japanese Samurai family as a joke. Dressed him up and paraded him around for the amusement of others.
Black people will not waste an opportunity to say that "We waz kangz" any moment they pop up in history.
