I've spent $1100 this month on OpenAi

It has replaced 5 writers for my company. It has generated 10x the output.
My monthly profit went from around 15k (after expenses), to making over 32k in just the last 2 weeks (with only $1,100 in expenses).
Nobody has complained about the quality of the content. If anything I have MORE users.

I went from using Google and StackOverflow every day to almost never again. ChatGPT is very useful for specific programming questions, and can speed up my workflow significantly.

I'm still using the free version tho, it's plenty for me personally, but I would 100% pay for it if necessary.

Same, just started learning web development and it’s fantastic. Normally I would have some stupid error and post here or ask a distant friend of mine and feel guilty for bothering him, but now I just ask chatGPT. Today I used single quotes instead of the back ticks or whatever they’re called. This would have taken forever for my dumbass to solve if it weren’t for chatGPT noticing it

This too actually. My muscle memory still tells me to search through Stack Overflow, but after I go there I always just click on my chatgpt link and get a better, customized answer.
It's especially great for regular expressions. I will probably never write a regular expression by hand again.

Stack Overflow is always better for when you want to understand what you're doing, which is the vast majority of the time.

        >It's especially great for regular expressions. I will probably never write a regular expression by hand again.
That's because you never really were proficient at regular expressions, you just hacked them together. People who are good at regular expressions can write them more quickly and reliably than figuring out how to tell them to chatgpt. But yes, you could do that for complicated regex commands.

The thing it's most useful for is if you have this niche, technical, shitty, complex thing that you almost never need to use so you can't remember the details but can tell chatgpt what you want. For example all that posix time bullshit and the mega wormhole stupid things like that can use can be solved quickly by chatgpt, so I'll give it that.

I don't think so. ChatGPT comments the code very well and anything you don't understand you can just ask chatgpt.

          > hat's because you never really were proficient at regular expressions, you just hacked them together. Guilty of hacking together. But I understand them better than probably 95% of people. Not to mention if you give chatGPT an example of what you expect as an output it actually can do much better than a real person. It's more about writing good prompts.

Invest in an A6000 Ada and do it locally, you'll save a lot of money over time.

      You can't use gpt-4 locally

This is for the API. Instead of using the chat interface, you can use the API for more customization / automation.

I use midjourney to come up with 3D models and textures for them. Made it 100x faster to complete projects.

can that be leveraged for Unreal Engine? when I checked out the midjourney website, it looks like it just prompts images like stable diffusion

        Anonymous

        I would say yes?
I have seen all sorts of plugins for unity and blender so i assume unreal should have some
Also i am super jealous of nanite. Wish unity had something like that

        Anonymous

Oh, it does just do images for now. I actually model the stuff it comes up with in blender and the textures are for fabrics or surfaces so far. A 3D modeling ai should come eventually though. Probably soon.

Can you make Midjourney show all sides of the same object or will it just show you several different objects?

Guessing by the ease you swapped over to GPT I'm guessing those were freelancers and you're running some sort of ad-based content farm or simple data manipulation for low-end clients.
In which case, enjoy it while it lasts. The burden of entry into that space is already incredibly low and it'll only get lower dramatically in the next months.
At this point in time, what exactly are you doing, what value are you providing, that any 3rd worlder with 20 bucks in their account can't provide? Or that the company you're selling to can't do themselves once they realize it's possible?
For now you're still ahead of the curve, but you won't be for long.

he could also be one of those reasonably big Youtubers that need to shit videos every single day, thus needing writers that shit literally anything

      Nah, none of the above.
I run my own content generation site.
Think '10 Marvel facts you didn't notice'. Only not for nerds.
I have no doubt things will change, but if I can 10x my profits for a year, I see no reason not to adapt with the times.

I'd kill myself if I were a daily youtuber.

nta but how is posting low quality listicles not running an ad based content farm?

          Anonymous

Ad content farms are more like every item in the list is a new page with a new set of ads.
Basically making the experience as unpleasant as possible for readers.

i like writing as an art and craft, so whenever i read guys like you saying they easily replaced 'content' writers, i ask myself how soulless and shit their writing is. chatgpt4 still doesn't understand rythm, rhyme, and all those nuances that makes you engaged with a certain writer. and i don't mean literature, there are good writers in substack and all.

There’s a market for everything. You have YouTube channels that pump out content every hour and creative teams that take their time with each release. Writing works the same way.

stone age herbalist for natural sciences knowledge; bronze age pervert for philosophical justification of racism, sexism and whatever; actaeon press if you like jünger (lit, mythology, aesthetics); william guppy. these are just recommendations for you to try. these are very opinionated in their own regard and i would under if you don't like them.
