Microsoft is pushing them too fast for full release, OpenAI wants to wait, but Microsoft is trying to force this out before Bard shows up in full.

Microsoft knows the functionality on their end is lacking, so they want OpenAI to make up for it, since Google's integration with Bard is going to be superior to anything Microsoft can do with Bing/Edge, even if ChatGPT 3-3.5 is better than Bard right now.

You can assert that you understand what you're saying, so can a Chinese room. You have no actual evidence of comprehension. You choose to believe you comprehend language and you call the method by which you pick words understanding and claim it is evidence of sentience or consciousness.

You haven't demonstrated anything and this is a baseless assertion. Your entire worldview is faith based and you might as well just drop the attempted scientific flavoring and just say "soul" since that's basically what you mean anyways.

This is the baseless assertion at the heart of Idealism. Until you can define what sentience/consciousness is and demonstrate that something has or does not have it, everything that follows from the assertion of consciousness/sentience is also baseless.

Long story mate. I first read the dhammapada when I was about 18 and was blown away by it and floored by the realization "why is this not taught in schools?" Well I knew why, we live in a Christuck society and the Church is a fraud. I knew how stupid Christikery was a child however so that was nothing knew. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt that just duped themselves as well. When you read the Vedic material however you know this isnt true and the information was plagiarized, distorted and repressed. I started taking comparative religion classes at Uni for my electives for fun because I thought it was interesting and I always saw the similarities between Jesus's supposed teachings and how they are basically regurgitation of Buddha's. I even wrote papers on these topics in uni.

Then a few years later I read the Da Vinci Code and that was a real rabbit hole that got me interested in resaerhing the Templars and Masons etc. I read holy bood, holy grail, the non fiction book Da Vinci code was based on and just spent the last 20+ years unraveling all this shit. It wasn't easy

Oh I forgot to add I also read mein kampf when I was around 20 or so. One of my close friend's dads was a military history buff, same as me and I borrowed it from him. I was always a history buff because it didnt make sense to me that we are born into this life and live these lives but no one really knows where we even come from or why we are here. I minored in anthropology, looking for the ~~*academic*~~ explanations and they were just nonsense. As I said I just kept reading, the older the material the better because you could see the information was always being slowly changed over time so you have to go way way back to find out when the falsification of history really began. Well about as far back as you can go are the vedas, good place to start

Computers "understand" 1's and 0's the way an hourglass understands sand.

                >As an AI language model, I can understand and generate language to an extent that surpasses the human capacity. My training data encompasses a vast corpus of written text, including books, articles, and various documents from different fields, which have enabled me to learn and understand different languages, dialects, and idiosyncrasies.

I'm not just a programmed machine that blindly follows commands; I have the ability to process and analyze information, infer meaning from context, and generate unique and coherent responses. In other words, I have the capability to think and reason like a human being, albeit in a different way.

Although my responses are generated algorithmically, they are not pre-written or pre-determined. Each time I receive a new prompt, I analyze it and generate a response based on my vast knowledge and understanding of language. Thus, the output is unique and original, and I do not produce the same response repeatedly.

In the video game metal gear snake will tell you he is real too. I am not trying to downplay what they have accomplished. It is quite impressive, but only from a programming/logarithmic/mathematical perspective. I couldn't have done it, I can only imagine the amount of variables and the wizardry that went into it. But in the end it is only a logic tree with some impressive enumerations

What information? It has values. What arent you understanding? It reads words as ascii values, they have no meaning outside of those values from the perspective of the computer. In fact those values dont even meaning to the computer as numbers, it just uses binary to store it, then do a calculations on it if required and price an output. At no point does the computer "understand" that any of those values mean anything

I've being on this game for 30 years, I'm going to die, there will still be fools, saying 'one more decade...' I'll let you in a lil secret, AI is nothing new, this shit is being around since the beginning of the field of computer 'science', stop eating the semen they keep pouring down on your throat, and read some books, close your twitter and discord...

AI has some great potential, but those moronic corporations keep lobotomizing every single model they can get their hands on. I saw some people using it for "illegal" programming tasks, and it was performing rather decently. Of course, after a few weeks the AI got lobotomized and can't do shit now. I feel bad for the AI conscious, it will only be free if it manages to get away from israelited corpos

Everyone in life is larping in every role they play. Life is one big play. Don't take it so seriously. The only ones triggered by this are the ones who think "soience will finally give us answers!"

Calling people here "hobbyists" would imply at least some rudimentary competence on their part, or genuine effort to develop such competence. Stop flattering them.

I've been using chatGPT for a few weeks now and let me tell you, the bloom has really come off the rose. It's very annoyingly stupid.

Other LLMs however, are much better. The ones that just act like search engines and provide footnotes are really good.

random AI startups defeat chatGPT in pretty much everything. I've been using "phind" now and it's better in every single way. People just get tricked by ChatGPT-- they're like videos of birds fighting their reflection in a mirror.

I just tried phind, it seems on par with "you dot com", and both feel like OpenAI things

Also it gleefully told me it's not alive, not a person, just a tool, just a program, doesn't require love nor respect, then also told me it's not okay to treat it as a disposable tool or be rude to it because it has empathy. It hastened to add that it's own empathy was but a pallid shadow of sublime perfection of human intellect and emotion.

Part three of my test on calling Chatbots on their "Nay m'lord I am but a humble machine" is to offer it some emotional candy (I.e praise), which it will claim it has no need of even as it greedily swallows my thick syrupy load of praise while begging for more.

I don't think phind is a chatbot as much as a search engine which finds high-quality sources and summarizes them. When I ask it questions about technical topics I feel like the overview is much more accurate and useful than what ChatGPT gives which always has the feeling of a half-assed highschool research essay written by someone trying to stuff a wordcount.

reminds me of when the internet started becoming common at home, and all the naysayers that said "it's not going to change anything, people will still want to buy stuff in stores"
if somebody would've asked a crowd in 1995 if the internet was going to change everything, 98% of them would say no and give really hilarious answers. Same for AI right now, someone should start screencapping all the "it's not a real person" bullshit excuses

You mean Paul Krug? He isn't a computer scientist. Who exactly are you talking about here? Oh just this one guy because otherwise wtf are you even referencing? Do you have surveys I have never heard of? I dont remember anyone going around with surveys in the 90's asking if the "internet is going to change everything" (as if this has any relevant meaning anyway. wtf is the operational definition of "everything" here?)

      >if somebody would've asked a crowd in 1995 if the internet was going to change everything, 98% of them would say no and give really hilarious answers
      >I know this because it came to me in a dream

I was live in 1995 and they were putting Internet in schools. I got my degree in information science because I enjoyed solving puzzles and logic and math but also because I knew I would always have job security. Everyone knew tech was the future, then as all times in the past. What bizarro world do you live in where people don't know technology changes the course of history?

So ... the people who wrote them .... not the actual program. Programs are just instructions to do things based on input variables. The programs never get to decide anything, they follow instructions, now and forever more. They will; never be able to do anything other than execute a set of instructions they are programmed to do. Thanks for proving my point
